Chapter Five

I'm awoken suddenly the next morning by peaceful birds, and....loud shouting.

In seconds, the door is knocked down, and footsteps echo through the hallway.

I sit up from a sleeping Loki's shoulder, terrified.

I gasp as my gaze is met by 5 men dressed in all black, a surprisingly familiar man in red white and blue, and an angry thunder god.

"It's not what it looks like!" I shout right away, raising my hands over my head. Loki stirs beside me.

"Olivia? Is it already morning?" He asks sleepily.

"Brother?" Thor calls hopefully.

"Oh, bilgesnipe." Loki groans, putting his face in his hands. Thor stomps around the couch in all of his glory, and when his eyes land on his brother, well, I don't even know how to describe the emotion.

I think.. a mix of anger and extreme joy.

"Brother! We've found you!" He leaps forward and encases Loki in a bone crushing hug, to which he groans and struggles to get away.

When Thor is finished with his hug session, he faces me. There is no joy in his eyes now.

"Olivia. You lied to me." He growls.

"Well, at least she learned something from me." Loki smiles, and I try not to laugh.

"I hate to break this up, and with all-do respect, Ms. Linden, we'd really like our hostage back." A man, the Captain America, speaks up from in front of us. My gaze locks with Loki.

"H-he doesn't want to go with you." I stutter in defense.

"That's because he's a criminal, Ms. Linden." He responds, crossing his arms. He'd set his shield down a while ago, although I can't remember when.

"A criminal?" I repeat.

"If you won't hand him over, I guess we're gonna have to take you too." A voice says from behind me. Somehow, a man in a suit and sunglasses had snuck back there while I wasn't paying attention.

"What?" I ask, stunned. One of the men dressed in black yells an order, and then another one of the men is on me. He grabs me hands and holds them behind my back, before pulling me off the couch. He begins to shove me down the hallway, his strength enough to overtake my struggle to stop myself from moving.

"Loki! Help!" I call, but he only stares at me, completely and utterly surprised. Before I'm pushed out of the house, I see Loki give himself to his brother and Captain America willingly, only raising his hands in defeat.

I furrow my eyebrows.

All of this trouble, only to give himself up? God, why the hell did I even defend him?

Three guards are soon behind me and my guard, holding Loki's hands, head, and shoulders.

I'm roughly handled over my fallen door and out of my empty doorway.

"Olivia?" I turn to see my mother and Tia, holding a box of doughnuts. Their eyes are wide and mouths dropped open.

"Sorry, I don't think I'll be able to get to work today." I admit, before I'm forced onto a giant fighter jet. The guard lets me down on a bench, then retreats to stand in a corner with his gun ready. Loki is thrown down in front of me, and the other guards take their places at the other corners.

"You have a lot of explaining to do." I say, as soon as he meets my eyes.

"I assure you, we'll have plenty of time for that." He leans his head against the wall, as if he were tired for the struggle he didn't give.

Thor clambers inside and takes his place near me.

"Where are we going, anyway?" I question.

"New York City." Captain America answers, stepping inside. My eyes bulge.

"That's like hundreds of miles away!" I protest. He shrugs.

"As I'd said earlier, give us the hostage and we'll leave you be." I meet Loki's gaze at that. He looks away, suddenly interested in the floor beside him.

As the plane starts up and rides smoothly, we sit in silence. No one dares to speak, or perhaps, they just don't wish to speak with the 'villain' in the room. If I weren't on the defending side, I likely would've felt the same way.

It's only a half an hour at most before the jet shutters, preparing to land. I nervously grab the closest thing to me, biting my lip. I look down and realize it'd been Loki's arm, and my cheeks turn dark red. He grins cheekily.

The wheels slam down onto solid ground.

"Get up." My guard commands. I immediately do as I'm told, not wanting to be manhandled again. When we step off the ship, we're met by eight other guards. They surround us, six in front, six behind. Loki doesn't say a word in protest, but walks casually.

"Why're you so calm?" I break the silence, finally.

"Nothing I haven't seen before." He lets out. He glances side to side, occasionally smiling at certain people I don't recognize.

The building, I realize, is over a hundred feet tall, and in the heart of New York City.

Is this Stark Tower?

When we step inside, two men are waiting for us. Tony Stark, and a scary man with an eyepatch.

"So, of all places on your pathetic planet, this is where you bring me." Loki shakes his head and laughs. Why is he being so weird? He's never acted like this around me. Tony smirks.

"Send them to the containment unit, make sure they're ready for interrogation." The man with the eyepatch commands, and we're off again.

On our way, I see a woman with bright red hair give me an icy cold glare. Then, I discover, it's intended for the man beside me. I thought I knew him, but now, I know, theirs so much more that I don't know. What if all of this is a lie? What if..... What if our whole relationship was a lie? I don't know if I could handle it.

At last, we're put in separate rooms, with one clear wall as separation.

I find myself sitting cross legged and facing his side, and he finds himself doing the same thing.

"Who're those guys out there? Why were they glaring at you?" I cock my head. I mean, yeah, at first Loki is kind of an asshole. I don't know what he could've done tom ale them hate him so much, though.

"I harvested an army of aliens and took them into New York through portal. I planned to take over your planet, as your king, because I was betrayed on Asgard, from my chance to be king, by my oaf of a brother. Despite the fact that it was my birthright." He spits.

"That was you?" I ask, remembering the scenes on the news from that day.

"What do you mean?" He responds with a question.

"You're the guy with the funny reindeer hat?" I giggle.

"Don't insult my helmet, Olivia. I have no idea what a reindeer is, anyway. And I was just starting to really like you." He blurts. I blush and glance down at my fingers. Then, I muster enough confidence to ask one question:

"You really like me, Loki?"
