Background: In Chinese philosophy, yin and yang describes how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another. Before,light there was darkness. Everything begins in darkness, and also ends. The heart is no different, Darkness sprouts within it, it grows, consumes it, such as its nature. In the end every light returns to the darkness which it came. But even though the heart may be weak, and they may even give end, there is a light, that never goes out. And this boy adopted the philosophy of Ying and yang, and his name was Owen Daisuke.

Owen was a mortal boy in college trying to earn his masters degree in astronomy. He was a well mannered respectable boy who played everything by the book. However one night as he was watching the stars in the dark night sky he was caught in the middle of a fight between two sisters. One of the sisters controlled light, the other darkness.

The light was called Ciara Hikaru, The dark Amethyst Yagami. They were basically your modern day Cain and Abel, Ciara wanted The light to shine down on the world, while Amethyst wanted the world to be smothered in the dark. However when they were both clashing with each other, they both struck each other down and fragments above their light and dark sides have disappeared. Owen saw the fragments and thought it was just following shooting stars, however Amethyst saw Owen as nothing more than a vessel for her darkness and decided to take it, however Ciara had the same idea and went after Owen.

Owen saw the fragments chasing after him, so he immediately ran back to his dorm. However, as soon as he reached the door, he was unexpectedly hit by the two. He's also started feeling changes in his body end it was so huge that he collapsed on the floor. His roommate carried him back to his room and laid him down on his bed. And when Owen woke up he noticed that the pain he received from that incident subsided as if it never happened. He knows the time was 7 o'clock in the morning and his classes don't start until 10. So he laid back down in sighs in relief, thinking that he had a dream. I was until he was interrupted by two feminine voices and he looked and saw the two sisters and was perplexed on what was happening.

After explaining of who they were and what their powers are Owen didn't believe it at first and it went on with the rest of his day. However ignorance is bliss. When he was getting his lunch he saw a shrouding dark cloud swarming towards the school as well as a gleaming pillar of light shining down.  The cloud opens up revealing creatures of darkness attacking the school along with his college classmates as well as white empty husks of light killing people. Owen was unsure what it meant but that's when his hands started to glow. One half of his body turned light the other dark. His clothes started to change and it was a mix of both light and dark.

He also heard Ciara and Amethyst talking to him and the two swords they used appeared in his hands and he slashed at the creatures. On his left side he used Ciara's light, on his right, Amethyst's dark. He finished off all of the enemies and ran back to his dorm.

Ever since that incident, he felt himself change even more. Ciara and Amethyst were still at war with each other and would often change the way Owen acts or thinks. Ciara wanted him to stay the upstanding man he was before he met them and make everyone happy, but Amethyst wanted him to be a rebel and make everyone miserable. Owen gets tired of their constant sibling drama and would force them to be nice to each other. But when it comes to battle, they all put their differences aside to defeat the enemies around him, while at the same time, keeping the balance of light and darkness at its stable pace.
