HER CHILDHOOD SUPERHERO

Prompt: In this chapter, Juvia tells Gray about her childhood superhero who saved her from committing suicide. She wants to meet him again.
Gray being curious decides to find him for her but gets caught up by a spell which will eventually lead him to finding her superhero..

As Gray was sitting with his friends and staring the wall for the past few hours without uttering a single word while his friends were enthusiastically gossiping about the upcoming Sakura viewing.

When Erza turned to ask his opinion on this, she saw him being completely engulfed in his own thoughts.

She lightly shook his shoulder to snap him out of the stupor which did happen.

"Gray, what were you thinking about for such a long time?"

Erza asked him in concern.

She knew her friend was bothered by something which he couldn't solve on his own.

"Just thinking about this person who Juvia admires as her childhood superhero. This person was the one who saved her from committing suicide when she was 5 years.

He encouraged her to have some faith and keep moving forward. He assured her a beautiful life was waiting for her in future.

He made it sound like a prophecy to her."

Gray told them what Juvia said to him yesterday night out of nowhere.

"What's his name? Are you jealous of him also? Man!!! Ice-princess, you should be thankful to him that he saved your lover's life not suckle in a corner and get all jealous."

Natsu mocked him.

"No, I'm not jealous. I want to find him and surprise Juvia by bringing him in front of her.
She's been frequently having dreams about their interaction."

Gray informed them.

"So where do you think you will find that unknown person?" Lucy asked him.

"Don't know need to investigate on this matter. For now, all I know about him is that his name is Haychuma."

Gray sighed and was wondering how he will find that person.

"Haychuma"

Others pronounced the name after Gray.

"Yeah, that's what she told me. Fine, need to go and look for that person."

As he got up, a paper from out of nowhere came towards him. Gray grabbed the paper and began to see the information on it.

He saw it was written in some gibberish language,

"Aukja tuksna yuik…."

After finishing the sentence, Gray disappeared in thin air while his friends were shocked and comically shouted.

As Gray opened his eyes, he saw himself being in middle of forest. What looked like a perfect sunny day suddenly it began to rain heavily.

"Where am I? Why is it raining? How did I get here?"
As he rubbed his head and ran to take shelter under a tree.

He remembered he was reading a gibberish language from a sheet.

"Looks like it was some spell. But what kind of spell is this? Hope, I get out of this mess."

Gray mumbled to himself.

His hearing senses perked up when he heard some sound of footsteps which got muffled with the raining pitter-patter sound which made it difficult to pinpoint the exact direction of sound.

Gray just followed the sound on his instincts and hoped to find the owner of the footsteps to know his exact location.

As he followed the lead, he reached a place from where he saw a small figure, probably a kid in cloak was standing at the extreme end of the cliff.

Gray ran faster towards the kid as he saw the kid jump. Luckily, Gray caught hold of the hand and pulled the kid up.

"Have you lost your mind, kid? Why did you jump?"

He yelled at the kid still he couldn't see the face nor he knew the gender. So he assumed it would be a boy.

The kid hugged him hard and began to sob loudly. Gray instantly knew it was girl not a boy. He bent down to hugged the little girl and consoled her.

"Hey sweetie, don't cry. Please don't cry. Why did you jump from the cliff?" Gray spoke in his soft voice not to scare the girl.

"Juvia, doesn't want to live anymore. Everyone hates her. Everyone wants her to die." She began to cry loudly.

Gray was shocked to hear the name of his girlfriend.

He slowly pushed her away and removed the cloak from her head. It was indeed Juvia who looked like a 5 year old. He was shocked and wondered where he was actually.

Gray carried her in his arms and went to take shelter under a tree to escape from the down pour. He sat down with Juvia in his laps and she continued to cry.

Seeing her in this state, Gray's heart tightened. He ruffled her hairs and asked,

"Hey sweetie, what happened? Why everyone hates you?"

He knew the answer but still wanted her to speak so that she could stop crying.

Juvia lifted her head from his chest and saw his dark eyes with her bright blue orbs. Just like the way she sees him now.

"Everyone hates Juvia because of this rain. See it's raining heavily and Juvia is the cause of it.
Rain is a part of Juvia's life wherever she goes it follows her.
That's why the kids in the orphanage bully her and doesn't talk with her."

She began to cry again.

Gray had heard from Juvia about her miserable childhood but seeing it for real is making him feel bad. He couldn't help but tears were glistening his eyes.

But he wiped his tears and smiled at the little Juvia and kissed her eyelids then wiped her tears.

"Sweetie, don't worry this rain is something which will help you grow stronger.
You know the reason why this rain follows you because you have the power to control it."

"Power to control"

Juvia sounded amused and slowly reduced her crying which Gray felt relieved off.

"Yeah, in future, you are gonna be a very powerful mage where you will control water. It's your domain. You will kick every bad guys.."

Gray said those things to make her relax which was true.

Juvia then frowned a bit,
"Then too, rain will never leave her, right.??"

Slowly tears forming in her beautiful eyes.

Gray smiled softly and remembered how Juvia used to say he was the reason her rain disappeared.

'Basically, Gray-sama is the sunshine in Juvia's gloomy world.'

"Yeah sweetie, your rain will disappear. You will meet new people and make more and more friends who loves and cares for you.

So a sweet girl like you shouldn't cry but should be bold and brave enough to face the bullies.

See I assure you that future has lot of good things in store for you. So never let down your hope, surely one day it will happen."

Gray hugged her lightly so that he doesn't squeeze her small frame.

"Thank you onii-chan, for saying those kind and encouraging words. Juvia really hope's for those things to happen."

For the first time, she smiled brightly and Gray instantly fell in love with it.

'Now I see how you get these beautiful, heartwarming smiles.' Gray thought picturing a smiling present Juvia in his mind.

Gray kissed her forehead, "It will surely happen. Believe me, sweetie."

By now the rain has stopped but rain clouds were still lingering. Juvia's eyes widened in excitement.

"See onii-chan, for the first time, rain has stopped. Juvia can't believe this. Thank you."

Juvia got up from his lap to kiss his cheeks making Gray to blush.

Suddenly to ruin the moment, little Juvia's tummy rumbled which showed she is hungry.

She felt embarrassed and Gray chuckled.

So listening to Juvia's direction, they came out of the forest. Gray carried her in his arms even though she insisted that she was fine walking.

After walking few distance, they saw a nearby restaurant and went in have some lunch. Gray told little Juvia that he knew someone just like her.

Little Juvia got curious to that someone had the same problem just like her.

Little did she knew that Gray was talking about her future self.

"So sweetie, you should also be optimistic, loving, caring and cheerful just like her. Got it!!!" Gray reached his hands to ruffle her hairs.

"Hai onii-chan" Juvia smiled brightly.

Gray didn't say much about her near future as it would change the past in his real time.

"Onii-chan, if Juvia be like that will she also find her prince charming in future?"
She asked with eyes full of love and hope.

Gray couldn't help but smile, "Yeah sweetie, you will meet your prince charming in future. He will be your sunshine.

He will be handsome, caring, loving and moreover he will be dedicated and protective of you.

Once you meet him, you will know who is your prince charming as he is the one who will take your rain away."

Gray assured her.

Little Juvia blushed cutely, "Juvia is so happy that she will get to meet her prince charming in future. She will wait for it."

Gray wore a big smile and remembered the day he and Juvia met for the first time back when she was his enemy.

After having the lunch, they decided to drop her in the orphanage.

Once they reached in front of the church, he let her down and bent himself to reach her height.

"So sweetie, see if you are happy, it doesn't rain. So always be smiling and happy.

Even if the kids bully you, treat them like your friends and moreover, don't lose your hope and keep looking forward for a bright future which you will surely get one day.

Promise me, you will never decide to end your life even that the hardest of hard time…"

Gray extended his little finger to make pinky promise.

Juvia smiled, "Yes Juvia promises. She will never end her life but will fight to live on."

She wrapped her tiny little finger around his finger and shaked it together.

As Gray got up, "Onii-chan, can Juvia know what your name is?"

Gray smiled and said, "Call me Gray-sama" but just then the church bell rings and she heard it as "Haychuma"..

Little Juvia wondered what a weird name.

"Okay onii-chan, let's meet once again another time. Bye"

After waving bye to her onii-chan, little Juvia went inside the orphanage. Gray smiled and waved her back.

"Sure will we meet once again, Juvia."

Gray's suddenly felt light and dizzy and he blanked out.

As Gray opened his eyes, he saw he was lying in the bed and looked around to find himself in the guild's infirmary.

Just then Wendy came in, "Hey wendy, how did I get here? Where is Juvia?"

As he made himself comfortable by sitting upright.

"Oh Gray-San, you just disappeared into thin hairs after reading that spell.

Once Levy-San examined that paper, she said it was time traveling spell which will send the reader to the exact time he wishes for.

But assured us that you would return back within an hour. Just like that, you dropped out of nowhere in the middle of the guild.

We tried to wake you up but you were unconscious."

Wendy informed how he came back and checked his pulse.

"Juvia-San was here with you till 10 minutes back. So Lucy-san and Erza-San took her out to the hall to get her something to eat."

Wendy told him and he got up to go next to his girlfriend.

As he went nearby, he heard Juvia talking to the girls,

"Juvia, then what happened after he got you the lunch?" Erza asked her.

"After that Haychuma left Juvia in the orphanage and encouraged her to keep looking forward.

As he assured, Juvia will have a happy life ahead. It did become true. All his words did happen in Juvia's life."

Juvia smiled fondly remembering the words of her childhood superhero.

"But you did say you can't remember his face? And his name sounds so funny?" Lucy laughed.

"Juvia's memory of his face his hazy. Actually, when he told me the name the church bell rang so all she heard was Haychuma… Hope he is fine.
Juvia wishes to see him but all her tries got in vain. She couldn't find him anywhere." Juvia slowly began to tear up.

Hearing their conversation, everything was clear to Gray that he was that Haychuma all along.

He was the one who time travelled and saved Juvia in the nick of the time.

Due to her being really young, she couldn't remember his face. He smiled and hugged her from behind.

"Hope soon Juvia gets to meet Haychuma…"

Juvia stopped in the mid, she felt her Gray-sama hugging her much to her surprise as he never was keen in public display of affection.

"You already met him, sweetie." He kissed her cheeks.
