Summary:- How papa Gray handles when his precious princess got her first period in his wife's absence.

One fine Saturday afternoon, when Gray finished taking a nap along with his youngest son, Silver, 7, who was a mini carbon copy of himself with pretty mid-night blue eyes which were big and had thick eyelashes just like his mother and other siblings.

His wife Juvia and their eldest son Ur, 19, both were on a separate mission while the former went along with her best friend, iron-dragon slayer, Gajeel Redfox but the latter was on a solo quest.

So now, it was upon Gray to look after his other kids until his wife's returns home after this one week mission.

"Daddy, I'm hungry." Silver patted his tummy to emphasize that he was hungry which Gray found adorable and ruffled his messy raven hairs.

"Sure kiddo, come let's make a banana pancake for you and your sister." He sat up on the bed and stretched a bit to lose the fatigue in his muscles due to the tiresome mission from which he returned yesterday afternoon.

"Daddy, onee-chan is not at home. Remember she told us that she will spend time at the guild today." Silver said and in between yawned.

That's when, the said information strikes his mind, "Yeah, I forgot. Mika did say she will be in guild today. So Silver, do you want pancakes or something from the guild?"

Gray asked his son. He hoped that he would choose the latter as it will be two goals in a shot, as he could go pick up his daughter as well as feed his son.

But the little guy had other plans, that is, to eat his favourite banana pancakes and who was he to reject his son's desire.

MEANWHILE 

As Mika Fullbuster, 12, beautiful and bubbly as her mother with her dad's ice magic was with her friends and their siblings.

Her friends group consisted of Simon Fernandez, 14, youngest child of Erza and Jellal, Igneel Dragneel, 13, youngest of Natsu and Lucy, Eva Redfox, 12, youngest child of Gajeel and Levy.

As the boys of her group were busy brawling, the girls and their elder sister-like figures were chatting about their daily chores.

Suddenly, Mika felt a strange pain shoot in her abdomen which she had been experiencing since morning and she whined in pain.

"Mika-chan, are you alright?" Eva caught hold of her best friend and patted her back.

"It's just a small pain in my tummy, Eva-chan. Can you get me a glass of water, please?" Mika pleaded.

Eva makes an angry face, "Why add please? If I don't do this, then, what are friends for Mika-chan? Don't worry, I will go and get it. Nashi-neechan, please look after her. I will be back in jiffy."

Nashi Dragneel, 18, eldest daughter of Natsu and Lucy turned towards the little girl, she knew something was wrong about her.

"Hey Mika-chan, what happened? Are you alright?" Concern washed over her voice as she saw the little girl's eyes began to tear up which caught other girls attention as well.

"It's paining very badly, onee-chan. I wanna go home." Mika began to cry as she felt pain was getting unbearable.

"Even Wendy-neechan's not at the guild today. Nashi, come let's take her to infirmary. I'm sure mom and aunt Lucy will give her some medication." Emma, 21, eldest twin of Gale, Gajeel and Levy's first kids.

As Mika got up, the reason for her pain became evident to the elder girls and they wore a small knowing smile.

But Mika's blue eyes widened due to shock to see the blood strain on her skirt and bench.

"Bl….blood...how? Nashi-neechan, am I going to die?" Her voice cracked and crying became louder which got the other guild members attention.

Nashi hugged the little girl and patted her back, "Hey dear, it's nothing. You are not gonna die. Come let's go to the infirmary. Is your mother at home, dear?"

Mika shook her head in denial. Suddenly Eva and the boys returned together and were shocked to see a pool of blood on their friend's skirt which made them worry.

"Mika, are you alright?" One by one they asked the same question especially Igneel felt bad for his friend's condition and wondered what's happening to her.

Mika didn't lift her head from Nashi's chest and kept crying. She felt embarrassed to look at her friends.

"Okay kids, go back and play some games while we take Mika-chan to infirmary." Emma took her robe and tied it around Mika's waist to hide the blood stain and used her solid script magic to create water and cleaned the bench.

Once inside the infirmary, Lucy and Levy who were looking at medicine stocks, tried to console the little girl and disclosed to her that it was a normal feminine process which transforms a young girl into an elegant lady.

They taught her how to use pads and how to take care of herself and how hygienic conditions are must.

"So Mika-chan, this is basic. Go home, mama will tell you everything else and she will take care of you." Lucy patted her head.

"But mummy has gone on a mission with uncle Gajeel. It's only me, daddy and Silver." She said while sobbing.

Both Lucy and Levy exchanged looks as it will be a lot more embarrassing for both father-daughter duo because of Gray's personality.

So Lucy took the responsibility of informing Gray about his daughter's condition and decided to give him a lecture just in case, if Juvia didn't give one.

And from looks of Mika, it was evident she didn't if she had, Mika wouldn't have been this scared.

When they reached the Fullbuster residence, the little girl was so embarrassed to meet her dad given to her personality which just got doubled.

Lucy smiled and patted her head, "Dear, it's to be embarrassed as I said. Now come let's go home and tell your daddy so that he will take care of you until your mummy comes back from where she will handle. Here, take this pack and use it as we told you, every 6 hours. Got it?"

Mika nodded her head and hit the door bell. They could hear Gray's voice and Silver and Ur's laughing voice.

"Aunty, onii-chan came back" She began to fidget. Lucy consoled her by hugging her shoulder.

Once Gray opened the door, he was greeted with his friend and his daughter who was latched on to her like a baby sloth.

Gray huffed and had his arms crossed against his chest, "Okay princess, what time is it now? Aren't you supposed to come back half an hour?"

Lucy rolled her eyes at her friend's over-protectiveness as it was just 4 in the afternoon.

"Gray, let's get in and talk about that." Lucy said and he could make out the seriousness of her voice and his princess tear stricken face.

As soon as Mika entered the house, she ran past her brother and went upstairs to her room ignoring her family's calls.

"Mika, what happened? Lucy, why's she acting like this? Did something happen to my princess?" Gray asked with concern laced in his voice while Lucy and the Fullbuster boys exchanged greetings.

"Gray, it's nothing serious. Okay, wait how should I frame it? Yeah, it's an important phase in her life." Lucy exclaimed which made Gray and Ur wonder what the former was trying to say.

"Don't beat around the bush just open up. I need to go and check out my princess' condition. " Gray retorted.

Lucy smiled and remembered how her husband became dramatic when their daughters had their first periods and hoped Gray wouldn't do the same.

"Well Gray, Mika's now a young lady. She got her first period and I'm sure it will be regular from now on. That's why she is crying and feeling embarrassed." Lucy said. She swore the colour from Gray and Ur's face faded away.

All Lucy received for her answer was 'oh'. Once advising her friend and his son how they should be kind and considerate to Mika she left.

As soon as Lucy left, Gray took his communication lacrima and dialled his wife's number to inform her about Mika.

Juvia beamed with happiness and at the same time, felt sad for not being there for her daughter at the time of need. 

"Gray-sama, go to Mika-chan's room and make her talk to Juvia."

"Hey I thought, you will come back as soon as possible." Gray stressed out.

"Of course, Juvia will come by tomorrow morning. Just make her talk, so that Juvia could calm her down. She's just embarrassed and scared. We should have just given her 'The Talk' before itself." Juvia sighed.

"Fine, I will go to her room, you just stay on line."

"Ur, go make ice compresses and chocolate hot drinks, these will help her out. Isn't it, Juvia?" Gray asked.

"Yes Gray-sama. It works for Juvia, hope it works for Mika-chan as well."

Once Gray reached his princess' room, he could hear her sobbing noise which sting his heart.

Gray had been a doting father to his children, just like any father, he hated to see his children sad and hurt.

He made sure to provide them with the childhood which he and Juvia never were given a chance to have.

"Princess, open the door. Your mummy wants to speak to you. Please open the door." Gray kept knocking the door.

Once the click sound was heard, he entered the room to see his daughter's face was flushed red and puffy eyes with constant crying.

Without sparing any more moment, he hugged and patted her back, "Princess, why are you crying? It's okay dear, there's nothing to be scared of. We are with you. It's normal dear. Now stop crying, here mummy's online."

He handed the lacrima and sat next to his daughter until she finished talking to her mother. Gray had seen his friend's handle this situation a few years back. 

It was Jellal who handled it naturally unlike the dragon slayers who went on rampage hearing their little girls were no longer a tiny child but a growing elegant lady. Gray knew even he would be in this situation in a few years and here he's now.

He could see that his daughter had stopped crying, thanks to Juvia's soothing and calm voice.

Mika handed the lacrima to her daddy, "Daddy, mummy said she will be here by tomorrow morning. She also said not to cry over. So, I will not cry anymore." Gray kept looking at his daughter who just had her head bowed down too embarrassed to see his face.

Just then, Ur and Silver enter the room with hot chocolate and ice compresses while the little brother has his polar bear stuffed toy in his hands.

"Dad, here's the things you asked for. So Mika-chan, how are you feeling? Drink this, it will help you out." Ur handed her the drinks and ruffled his sister's hairs which seemed to comfort her.

"Onee-chan, take my teddy. It will make your pain go away." Silver placed his teddy on his sister's lap which made the girl smile for the first time in a while.

"Drink up, princess. It will make you feel good." Gray smiled at her.

For the rest of the evening, Mika stayed inside her room due to pain in her lower abdomen, lower backs and legs.

Gray had finished making dinner and took the food plate to his daughter's room. As the door was open, he simply entered the room and saw her groaning due to pain.

"Mika"

"Yes daddy" She got up and sat on the bed.

"Here eat your dinner. Today I made vegetable stew and fish fry."

"Daddy, I don't want to eat. I'm not hungry." She pouted which made her look just like Juvia.

"No princess, you should eat. During this time, you should eat nutritious food to keep your body fit and healthy. Then only, you will grow up strong, elegant and gorgeous just like your mummy."

Mika just kept on staring at the food and Gray felt the need to add something, "Dear, even if you grow up and become stronger than us. You will always be my little princess. So don't worry, it's a natural and special process for every girl."

"How special is daddy? I feel pathetic and in pain. I don't feel good at all." Mika said.

Gray chuckled, "Yeah, you will feel pain. But believe it, it's special as this is what makes you a ladyl. It's special because only girls have the ability to shed blood every month which is a bravery act unlike guys who shed some due to fights.
       You are brave dear because you can handle this pain and still smile which I'm sure guys can't do.
      Also this process is what makes you bear a child which makes way for future generations to come."
He tried his best to sound reasonable and also convince the little girl.

But Mika's eyes widened and Gray fidgeted and wondered where he went wrong.

"Daddy, I don't want any baby. What will I do if it comes out now?" Her voice high pitched. Gray had to suppress his laughter and decided that this topic will be covered by his wife when she returns.

"The baby won't come out now dear. It will take a long time and other stuff for the baby to come out.
  And Mika, now's the phase you will feel kind of attraction towards boys which is not bad but can be avoided." He felt the need to emphasize the last part. He felt relieved as his daughter didn't ask any other embarrassing stuffs.

"Oh daddy, that's why, I feel Igneel looks good. He said even I look good." Mika said with a blush as she remembered her friend's confession.

Gray's face went blank when he heard his daughter's facts. He decided to make a trip to Dragneels residence the first thing in the morning tomorrow and warn the little dragon slayer to be away from his precious princess.

"Okay...princess, now eat up the dinner before it becomes cold. And never forget how old you are, you and brothers will always be our babies." Gray got up after patting her head.

Later at night, Gray got her another cup of hot chocolate and ice compress as Juvia had strictly told him not to give painkillers to her this soon.

When Juvia arrived early in the morning, the first thing she did was go to her daughter's room ignoring her boys. Even Silver felt bad as his mummy just ignored him for the first time.

Juvia hugged her Mika-chan and consoled the girl as there was new blood stain in her PJs.

Juvia slowly advised her and shared the information in the form of 'The Talk' which made the little girl blush scarlet hues.

Once her mum cleared all the doubts, Mika felt at ease and comfortable since yesterday.

"Gray-sama, you did a good job in consoling her yesterday night." Juvia said after giving a kiss on his lips while a kiss on her son's cheeks.

"Good to hear. But soon, I need to worry about the purple bruises which she will bear in her neck." Hearing his father's comment, Ur just choked his drink and coughed.

Gray knew even Ur was not ready to see his sister in that condition. Juvia giggled and consoled her boys, "We still have a few more years for that to actually happen. So give rest to your minds and relax. Ur-chan, how's your relationship with Yuki?" Juvia teased her eldest son. Yuki Vastia, 17, eldest daughter of Lyon and Meredy and they had been dating for the last two years.

"It's going strong." Ur said with a blush and left the living room to go back to his room.

Juvia, who paid attention to her youngest, turned to see her husband who was wondering something, "What are you thinking Gray-sama?"

"What if I beat that tiny dragon-slayer before he makes a move on my princess?"

"Gray-sama" Juvia slightly smacked her husband's arms. She reasoned with her husband how he can't do that and should thank Lucy and Levy for their help yesterday.

But nevertheless, now that Gray knew what his daughter feels for Igneel. He had his hawk's eye on the little dragon slayer whenever he was near his princess which continued until the day he passed his daughter to the blonde dragon slayer for life long commitment.
