Grian...?

This chapter was requested by kinshi____. I changed it a bit (I hope you guys don't mind). This chapter is also about twice the length of my normal chapters. Enjoy!

----

Grian was flying around the server, looking for something to do. Working on his base bored him, but working on anything having to do with the war stressed him out. He needed a break, but that didn't mean he would just sit around and do nothing. He needed something calm and relaxing to do, something he could go to whenever he was stressed out like he was right now.

Grian suddenly felt his body start to descend towards the ground. His elytra had broken and he was speeding towards the ground at an alarmingly fast rate. He let out a loud scream as his body slammed into the grass, the left side of his body taking most of his fall. He felt his consciousness slipping away from him, but he tried his best to bring it back. His eyelids grew tired and he gave in.

~Time Skip~

Grian woke up, his breathing sounded harsh and his left arm was in immense pain. He tried to lift it, but only managed to get it an inch above the ground before there was a sharp pain in his entire arm. 'Did I break it?' he asked himself. He began to panic. If his arm was broken, he wouldn't be able to do most things for at least a few weeks. What if he starved before anybody knew about what happened to him? How long had he been laying on the grass, unconscious?

He looked at what he had on himself, trying to find anything that might be of any sort of use and found 28 cooked potatoes. 'Only 28?' he thought. He had an idea that might help his arm and he began to carefully remove his sweater with his one useful arm while trying not to harm the other one more than it already was. He sucked in a breath when he tugged on his left sleeve. Not being able to torture himself anymore, he pulled the sleeve off as fast as possible. Tears of pain pricked at his eyes, but he knew that what he was doing would help him, even if it was only a little bit. He let out a shaky breath and removed the sweater with ease.

He tied the sweater sleeves together at the ends and adjusted his head so that it was in between the sleeves, the knot pressed up against his neck. He then lifted his injured arm as gently as he could and put in on the inside of his makeshift arm sling.

He slowly sat up, inspecting his surroundings, and spotted a small, run down house 100-200 feet away from him. Grian rose and began to stagger towards the abandoned-looking building. It was sunset. Soon, hostile mobs would fill the open field that he was in. Would he even survive the night?

Grian made it inside and looked out the window. Sure enough, there were monsters outside. The sun had already dipped under the horizon and most of the ground was covered by the undead and some creepers.

Grian made his way to the bed, throwing all of his stuff on the floor, too tired to put it all in the nearby chest. He laid down and dozed off. His thoughts before rest were him worrying about never seeing his friends again. Never seeing Mumbo again. He never got to confess his feelings to him and, with Grian's current situation, probably will never have the chance to.

~ Time Skip, and move to Mumbo~

It had been 3 days now since Mumbo last saw Grian. He said he was going to find something to do to clear his mind. But three days? What if something happened to him? 'No' thought Mumbo, even if something did happen to Grian, he was more than capable of handling himself. But Mumbo still had a feeling in the pit of his stomach that something was wrong.

Disrupting Mumbo's thoughts, the crackling of firework rockets was heard nearby. Soon after, Iskall landed in front of Mumbo, their voice frantic, "Mumbo, where's Grian? He's been gone for three days!"

"I don't know, he said he was going to look for something to do, but I haven't seen him since he said that. I feel like somethings wrong..." he trailed off.

"I'll go look for him, want to tag along?" Iskall asked Mumbo.

"Yeah, of course," Mumbo responded, quickly.

They flew around the areas that they thought he would be in before just looking throughout the entire server. Mumbo was beginning to panic, he thought that they would've found Grian by now, but there was no trace of him. "Hey Iskall?"

"Yeah?"

"D-do you think Grian is hurt? Or w-worse? What if h-"

"Mumbo," Iskall interrupted, "let's not think about that right now until we've checked every part of this entire server, ok?" Iskall tried to comfort Mumbo. A month or two prior to this, Mumbo had confided in Iskall and told them that he had a thing for Grian, and Iskall promised Mumbo to help him with anything that had to do with Grian.

"I know, I just... you know how I feel about him..." Mumbo said, looking down.

Iskall reached over and placed a comforting hand on Mumbo's shoulder. "Just... do your best. For Grian."

Mumbo gulped and looked up. "Okay. Thanks, Iskall."

"No problem. Now, we've got a guy to find, let's go before the sun sets," said Iskall before taking off, with Mumbo flying next to them.

After a few hours of searching, Mumbo spotted a small run-down building. "Iskall!" Mumbo exclaimed, violently shaking the other hermit.

Iskall almost lost balance. "Dude, we're flying. What if I lost balance and fell?" Iskall said.

"Sorry, I just got excited because I saw a building," Mumbo responded, pointing to a tiny house.

"Want to go and check it out?" Iskall asked and Mumbo nodded.

They landed on the grass and walked up to the house, opening the door. "Grian...?" Mumbo asked.

Grian looked up, slowly. He looked ill, he was pale and had a sling on his left arm. "Mumbo...?" Grian asked.

Mumbo walked over to Grian and pulled him into a hug, making sure to not hurt his arm.

"I'm here, too," Iskall interrupted their embrace, smiling. Mumbo let go of Grian and looked away, blushing like mad. Grian's face wasn't too different. Iskall chuckled at their reactions. "Anyways, Grian, what happened to you?" they asked, looking at his sling.

"My elytra broke mid-air and I landed on my left side. I woke up yesterday in the afternoon and found this place."

"Barely yesterday?" Mumbo asked, surprised.

"Yes, why?" Grian furrowed his brow.

"Grian," Iskall spoke up, "You've been gone for 3 days!"

"Three days?!"

"Yeah, we've been worried about you," Mumbo said.

"Sorry guys..."

"You have nothing to be sorry about," responded Iskall.

"Iskall, you can go to your base or something, I'll take him home," Mumbo suggested.

"Ok. If you guys need anything, just tell me," Iskall said before leaving, flying away.

"We'll take a boat ride over to our bases since you can't fly."

"Ok, but we better hurry. It's about to be nighttime."

Mumbo helped Grian stand up and helped him walk outside. "I'll help you," Mumbo told Grian when they got to the boat. Mumbo sat Grian down and sat on the seat in front of Grian's.

The boat ride to their bases was long and quiet. Each one to their own thoughts. Eventually, they made it and Mumbo rowed the boat to Grian's base. He helped him out of the boat and down to his first layer. "Where's your bed?" Mumbo asked.

"Woah, slow down there, Mumbo. You have to take me out first," Mumbo's face was flushed a deep red, which made Grian giggle.

"I wish..." Mumbo whispered to himself.

"What was that?" Grian asked.

"N-nothing!"

"Okay... Anyways, my bed is just over there," Grian answered Mumbo's question, pointing towards a nearby area full of chests and shulker boxes. Mumbo walked Grian to his bed and helped him get in. Mumbo stood up and began to walk towards the exit of Grian's base. "No goodnight kiss?" Grian asked.

"Grian, you're acting like a child," Mumbo fakely scoffed, hoping that Grian was serious.

"Please. Just one!" Grian pouted. Mumbo sighed and went over to kiss Grian's forehead. He leaned in, but at the last second, Grian tilted his head up to capture Mumbo's lips in his own. When Mumbo pulled back, his face was a crimson color, but Grian's face was a deeper shade of red. "Now you can leave."
