EPILOGUE

•two years later•
Tobias

I stare at my reflection. My tux is fitting perfectly. I am not sure if my slow breathing is coming from my bowtie or my nervousness. I take a deep breath. The door knocks. "Come in." I call as I sit down on the bed in my room. The door opens and Louisa enters. The light blue silk bridesmaid dress is wrapped around her nicely. Her pixie cut hair is brushed. "Hey." She leans against the door. "Hi." I say. "You look nervous." She walks up to me.

She sits next to me. "Not planning on changing your mind, eh?" She crosses her arms. I chuckle. "I don't think so." I shake my head. I look at my vows. That I struggled to write. "She looks perfect by the way." She says. I look at her. "She always looks perfect." I say. "You know what I mean, asshole." She rolls her eyes. I smile. "I gotta tell you something." She says. "Yeah?" She shakes her head. "Thank you." She says. "For what?" I shrug. "Making her happy." She stands up. I smile. "Now, you gotta get your ass up so we can go." She walks to the door. She's back again. I grin as I follow her.

The asile is filled with people at both sides. I am standing there completely nervous. I can't help my shaking legs. It took me a while to actually man up and ask her to marry me. I was hell nervous that she would say no.

I gulp as I clutch the velvet box in my pocket. "Are you okay?" She asks, the dim light of the place is reflecting against her skin. "Yeah." I nod. "Are you sure?" She squints her eyes at me. "Stop that." I roll my eyes at her. She chuckles. She looks at the singer, that's setting the mood to the place. I take a deep breath as I get down on one knee. "Tobias?" She raises an eyebrow at me. I take out the box. "I am not a poet and I suck at talking but I love you so much, Ruby Clark. Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?"

I smile as the memory fades. Her bridesmaids are all smiling. Louisa her made of honor, beside her is Penny, Elizabeth and Tessa. Age found its way to her face. I look at Anne who is sitting between the crowd. Her golden hair is waved down to her shoulders.

She's grown into this beautiful little thing. Her mother is sitting there at the front. She looks somehow better. If you can ever feel better after losing a child. I look beside me. My best man, Al, is talking to Ash. They're both parents now. I wonder what would it be like to be a father. If I am even going to make good one. Music hushes the whole place. I gulp as they emerge. She's holding her father's arm. The crowd stands, admiring my beautiful bride.

Her red hair is pulled into a low bun, clutching her bride veil. She smiles at me as they get closer. Right now, she's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Her skin is glowing. It feels as if she has light shining around her. I smile, my eyes staring at her. Oh, how lucky I am, to have her. To marry her. She hugs her father tightly. Standing in front of me, I am smiling like a kid. I look at her father. I give him a nod. He smiles at me and takes his place beside his wife.

I look at her. She smiling at me. Her wedding dress is going down her shoulders, exposing her shoulders. The necklace is adding light to her chest, despite how small it is. "Well, you're vows are read, I assume?" The priest asks. We both look at him, nodding. "Can I go first?" I ask. She smiles at me. I take a deep breath as I try my best to not mess this up. "Ruby Wendy Clark, you make me happy, really." I stop, knowing I definitely messed this up. She gives me a reassuring smile.

"When I first saw you, I never imagined that we could have been here, now. I never thought that I even deserve someone like you. You changed me in so many ways, that I am very grateful. You drove crazy and you still do, Ruby. I am the happiest human being in the world right now. I promise you that I will always protect you, no matter what. I will never leave. I will stay till our last breathes, because I love you more than anything." I smile, knowing that I said nothing from the paper in my pocket.

Ruby

"I can't believe you're getting married, baby." Mom cups my cheeks, tears of joy gleaming in her eyes. "Don't cry, mom." I wrap my arms around her. I hear her laugh as we hug. "You look beautiful." Louisa smiles. I smile back. "Is it okay to be nervous?" I sight, sitting down on the couch. "Totally." Penny says, fixing the bowtie, on Henry's neck. Willow sits next to me. My goddaughter. Her hair is dark just like Penny's. Her curls are coming from Al. Dark skinned unlike her brother, who took Al's genes.

Her eyes are as hazel as Al's. "This is my first wedding." She says. I chuckle. A dark red dress is wrapping her up. "I am sure you wedding is gonna be tons better." I touch her nose. She chuckles. I look at Penny and Elizabeth, who are both fixing there babies. Ash's daughter, Jackie, is letting her mother brush her curly black hair. Dark skinned like her father and asian dark eyes like her mother. I wonder what my kid and Tobias's would look like.

The door knocks a couple of times, before it opens. "Hi." Elite says. "Hi." I get up and walk up to her. "How about we go for a snack kids?" Louisa claps her hand, getting there attention. Everyone leaves the room. "You look great." She smiles. Her hair is loose touching her chest. A black laced dress is leaving her back exposed. "You, too." I stand in front of her. "How are you and Kingsley?" I ask. Last time I saw Elite was a year ago. She wanted to meet up to say that she's over everything and that she wishes us happiness.

"We're great." She nods. "I am glad." I smile. "You guys were meant to be, huh?" She smiles. I chuckle. "I guess so." I shrug. "I am glad, that he's happy at last." She walks closer to me. "I hope you're happy." I say. She gives me a soft smile. "I am." She says. We hug tightly. I am glad that Elite is happy. I really am.

I sit in the car, dad beside me. I watch the road as it races from the window. I can't believe Tobias and I are getting married. I knew that it would take him sometime to actually man up and ask me. But, it didn't matter. Every minute we spent together was perfect.

I stare at him for a second, taking in what he just said. It seems as if time stopped and it's only the two of us in this universe. I can't help but let the tears fall as I nod unable to say anything. I stand up as he does and we both hug. I think this is my favorite hug.

I smile widely as I recover this precious memory. "You ready, dear?" Dad asks as I realize the car isn't moving anymore. I take a deep breath as I nod to him. He helps me out of the car. We both stand, waiting for our cue to walk in. "You look nervous." Dad says. I look at my father. He looks older than he is supposed to be. "I am." I sight. "You will be the perfect bride, Ruby." He smiles at me as he pulls me into a hug. I hug him back. The music starts and this is our cue.

The asile is full of people but my eyes only see him. He's standing there, nervous, I know. I smile not believing if this is real. As we reach him, I give dad another hug and then take my place in front of him. We stare at each other. His hair is brushed perfectly. He looks just perfect.

I watch him as he says his vows, my heart beating so hard, it might as well jump out of my chest. He gives me another smile as he finishes. I take a deep breath, knowing it's my turn to say my vows.

"Look at us, together. Better than anytime, I have ever seen us. Tobias, you're the most amazing person I have ever met. You make me realize how life is supposed to be lived. You make me feel as if we can do anything and it wouldn't matter as long as we're happy. I don't care if there is anyone who doesn't want us to be together, because I do, and that's enough. You're enough. I can't imagine my life without you anymore. I don't know how I even managed to live before you, as cheesy as I sound." A laugh fills the place, but only his is what matters.

"I love you, Tobias and I will keep on loving you even after I die. I will keep on loving you everyday, every second and forever." I smile at him. I can see the tears that formed themselves in his eyes. He wipes them before they fall. "That was lovely. Now, the rings." The priest smiles at us. Louisa hands both of us the rings. "Ruby Clark, do you take Tobias Woods to be your husband and do you promise to be faithful to him in sickness and in health?" He asks me.

"I do." The words flow out of me, as I slide the ring onto his finger. "Tobias Woods, do you take Ruby Clark to be your wife and do you promise to be faithful to her in sickness and in health?" "I do." He says and the words tickle my heart. I stretch my fingers for him to slide the ring that had a ruby stone in it, onto my finger. "With the power designed to myself, I shall announce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride." He smiled at us. His fingers take my chin and he kisses me. And just like that, we're married. We're meant to be and we will always be.

I am happy, Peter. I know you're, too.
