Ruby

It is been two days since that lunch break that Alexander called me pretty in. I have been having lunch with him ever since. Faith is such a wonderful person. She knows how to play the electric guitar. She's living with her boyfriend. They have been together for four years. She's happy. She wants to marry him. I wonder how does it feel to love someone to the point that you're one hundred percent sure that you want to spend the rest of your life with this person. Alexander is such a nice guy. He's from New York. His family owned this hospital since forever. He loves his job. He thinks that hospital are the most important things on earth. He is the only child for his parents. His mother works as a painter. She has a gallery of her own in Paris. He promised to take me there one day. His father is only dealing with a money through the bank that's all. He loves cats. I promised him to meet Blade soon. He loves the name.

I wake up on my phone's alarm. I sit in bed while checking my phone. Ash's number sends me a message.

Ash: Vegas tmr? Are you ready?!

I smile at the message. I text him if I could bring someone along with me. I want to bring Alexander. I think it will be great. He's such a great guy. And also a great friend. I get up and hop into the shower. I pull up my pants along with a grey sweater. I dry my hair and pull it into a ponytail. I look at the nightstand to get my nude lipstick, I notice the necklace. It is been laying there for almost a week. I just apply my lipstick and ignore the necklace. I grab my bag and head out of the room. I get out Blade's cage. "Come on buddy. You're going to uncle Hardin." I say as I open the cage's door for him. He walks into it. I close it as I pull on my boots. I grab my coat on my way out. I place his cage on the passenger's seat. I start to drive. I get my phone out and notice a message from Ash.

Ash: Is he your new boyfriend?

I roll my eyes as I send him a "Fuck off" message. I get to the calls. I call Alexander's number. "Good morning." He says into the phone. "Good morning, Alex. I am going to be late today. I have to pass my cat on one of my friends." I say. "Oh, okay. But, why?" He asks. "I will tell you during out lunch break." I say with a smile. The lunch break is the only thing I look forward to in my whole day. "Can't wait. See you and drive safe." He says and hangs up. I smile as I place the phone into my bag. I stop the car in the hospital's parking lot. I text Hardin to ask him to come out. After five minutes, he shows up. "I have work, you know." I say as I give him the cage. "I do, too." He says with laugh. "See you, later Hardin!!" I say as I get back into the car. He waves at me as I drive away to my work.

"So why is your cat leaving for your friend's house?" He asks as we eat out usual tacos. "I am going to a friend's wedding through the Christmas." I say. "Cool. When are you leaving?" He asks. "Tomorrow." I say. "Wait what? But, Christmas break doesn't start till next weekend." He says with complete shock. "Well, I was hoping if my boss would say yes if I decide to take him with me?" I say with a smile. "Are you trying to ask me to give you your Christmas break early in exchange for me attending your friend's wedding with you?" He says with a smirk. I nod with a sweet smile. "Well, where are we going?" He asks. "Vegas."I say as I take a bite from my taco. "Count me in." He says with a smile. I laugh lightly as we eat.

"I can't believe you're bringing your boss with you?!" Ash voice fills up the room from my phone. "I need a distraction from Tobias remember?" I say. "Oh right. But, are you into your boss tho?" He asks. "Of course not." I say with wide smile. Am I? "You're a lying ass bitch." He says with a laugh. "What? Nooooo." I say as I open a drawer that has sweaters. "Yes, you are!" He says through his laughs. I laugh along while swearing at him. I notice a sweater laying there. I stop laughing. My face falls. That Christmas comes back to my mind. That Christmas he said he loved me. That Christmas that I became the happiest girl ever. "Ruby? You okay?" Ash's voice breaks through my thoughts. "Yeah, yes." I say as I throw his sweater into the bag. I close the bag and take my phone from the nightstand. I close the speaker. "Is he hot after all of this shit?" He asks. "He is. And he's incredibly sweet as well, Ash. You will love him." I say. "I hope just that I am still the one getting married." Ash says as we break into more laughs.
