Chapter 1

Kirishima's POV

"The funeral for Pro Hero Uravity took place yesterday evening. A large group of other pro heroes, civilians, and family all came to say their final goodbyes. Earlier reports say that she died in a villain attack only a week ago against a now infamous villain organization. One where Pro Hero Deku, and fiance to Uravity, had been hunting down for several months now and was even out of town searching for information on the day of the attack. The real question is, how is Pro hero Deku taking her death? Some say nothing has changed and he continues to work full time, ridding Japan of villains-" I turned the tv off and sighed, setting the remote down and leaning back on the couch.

I can't believe she's gone.

Uraraka, a friend of mine. Someone I trained with and spent a lot of time with during high school while training to be heroes. She was one of the sweetest girls in class and she cared about everyone. She was also the first person to get Midoriya to come out of his shell.

He was so shy back then and constantly on edge, but Uraraka had managed to crack him and eventually we all got to see so much more of the caring, mumbling, little green haired boy.

I can't even imagine how Midoriya is feeling right now. Those two have been closer than anyone I have ever known and so it was no surprise when they started dating, let alone eventually got engaged. To lose the one you love, I don't even want to imagine how that would feel. I could never comprehend how my life would continue without those that I love and the death of Uraraka has left me in shock.

She was my friend and someone that I also cared about. I hate the people who did this to her and they will pay thoroughly. They ruined a perfectly happy relationship, two amazingly beautiful people.

Kat and I were both invited to the wedding and I was really excited to go and support the both of them. We all have been through so much together and I wanted to be there for that special, happy day. That damn villain group just had to go and ruin everything. No one even knows what they are after, so why kill Uraraka? Was that part of their plan, or was there something else? Did she just get in the way?

I'm not entirely sure, but I doubt Midoriya is going to let questions like these go unanswered.

The front door opened and in strolled my tired looking boyfriend. I got up and hugged him at the door, happy to know he's home safe. He wrapped his arms around me and placed his head in the crook of my neck.

After everything that has happened, I have been feeling a lot more anxious and unnerved than before. It's a relief to watch Kat come in through the doors at the end of his shift, at least when we're not working together.

He's the number two hero and so sometimes he is given tasks to complete on his own, and with the incident with Uraraka, they've been keeping him on his toes.

"Hey." I whispered, pulling back so he could take off his shoes and coat.

"Hey, sorry I'm late. Work is still a rather mess."

"Yeah, I know what you mean." I told him honestly. I was lucky to get out of work on time. I worked a double shift last night and didn't get home until about five in the morning, only to turn around and be back at work at nine.

Katsuki walked into the kitchen and began pulling out pots and pans. "Have you eaten dinner yet?" He asked. His exterior was rather calm, something I know I'll only ever see when he is either extremely exhausted or touch starved, which, believe it or not, happens a lot more frequently then one would think.

Not that I mind. I love that side of him. I love his angry, never backs down side as well, but there is just something different about his calm one.

If you asked me, I'd tell you right away how much I truly am in love with him. I don't know who I would be without him, or if I would even want a life without him in it.

"No. I was waiting for you," I replied, taking a seat upon the counter.

"More like waiting for me to cook for you," he replied sarcastically and glanced at me.

I gave him a cheeky smile. "Your cooking is so much better than mine. I can't help but wait!"

"Tch." He pulled some food out of the fridge and began making us some dinner. I think he was making some curry, judging by the smell and the ingredients he pulled out.

Katsuki has a natural habit of making spicy food, even if it's the middle of the night. Either way, it turns out so delicious that I can't turn it down.

As Kat cooked, my mind traveled back to Midoriya and how he has been doing. He acts fine. Hasn't missed a single day of work, continues to fight. If I didn't know any better than I would say nothing bad actually did happen. He's gotten so good at keeping things to himself that it sometimes startles me. He definitely has changed since our first year in UA.

Well. Maybe I am over exaggerating. For the most part, he is the same person, still gets nervous around others, even other pros. He is still the kindest person I have ever met, and he still has that adorable baby face that I don't think he will ever grow out of.

However, he is a thousand times stronger than he used to be. Obviously, he didn't make number one for nothing, but he is also a lot more secretive. He used to be more of an open book, but now he has figured out how to keep things on the down low, which is why I am worried.

He could be faking everything, and all of Japan wouldn't even bat an eye.

"Kat?" I called, my boyfriend now almost done with dinner.

"Hmm?" He responded, not looking up from the pot of goods.

"Do you think Midoriya is doing alright?" I asked. No one knows him better than Kat. They've known each other their whole lives.

Katsuki paused and turned to me, his bright red eyes, clashing with mine. He thought on it for a moment, biting his lower lip in the process. "I couldn't really read him at the funeral. His face was void of any emotion. If I had to guess, then I would say not great. He's probably doing everything he can to distract himself. Rumor has it he's been showing up for work earlier and leaving even later." He said, now turning back to continue the food, but still thinking of the question I just put into the air.

"He's probably not letting himself grieve properly. Do you think he's gonna be okay?"

"I don't know. I'm sure the nerd can handle himself."

I shook my head at his comment. I know he is just as worried as me.

"Here." He handed me a bowl of the steamy hot curry and grabbed my other wrist lightly, pulling me off the counter and directed me towards our dining room table.

The two of us sat next to each other and ate our food in silence.

The food was so good and I was just so hungry that I devoured the food pretty quickly.

"Oi! Slow down or you'll choke yourself to death!" Kat shouted at me.

I smiled and quickly gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you for the food!" I said to him, finishing the last bites.

He rolled his eyes at me and continued to eat his food at a mannered pace. Before long he had also finished and joined me in the kitchen to help clean up. I scrubbed away at the pots and other dishes in the sink while Kat stored the leftovers in the fridge and cleaned off the counter tops.

Just as we had finished, a knock sounded across the room.

Kat and I looked at each other, curious as to who would be knocking so late at night. It's nearly one in the morning.

"Should we?" I asked in a hushed voice, a little startled by the late night intruder.

Katsuki scoffed. "Don't tell me you're scared of answering the door," he commented.

I stuck my tongue at him. "I'm not!"

"Then answer the door, tough guy."

I frowned at him and spun on my heels, proceeding to the door.

I looked through the peephole, but it was too dark out to make out any recognizable figures. My hand lay on the door knob and I took a deep breath. I looked back at Kat and he arched a eyebrow expectantly. I pulled the door open quickly, Kat by my side.

"Todoroki?" I questioned, shocked to see him here.

"Kirishima, Bakugou. I know it's late, mind if I come in?" He asked, looking between the both of us.

I nodded and opened the door wider for him. He stepped in and slid his shoes off.

The three of us went to sit in the living area. Kat and I beside each other and Todoroki on the recliner across from us.

"What did you want Icy-Hot? It's late and why couldn't this wait until the morning?"

"I just got off work and I have to be back first thing. This was the only time I had to come speak to the both of you."

"Okay? Is everything alright?" I asked, getting a little worried.

"I suppose. It's Midoriya, I'm worried about him."

"So is everyone. What does that have to do with you on our doorstep?" My boyfriend bit back.

"Katsuki. Let him finish," I scolded him.

He huffed and crossed his arms.

"I don't think you understand how negatively this has impacted him. He and Uraraka had a fight before we left town. She died before Midoriya even had the chance to talk with her. He blames himself for what has happened, saying things like he should've listened to her, he should've been there for her, and he shouldn't have been going after the group if it was just going to get her killed." Todoroki explained.

It made sense, he was away when it happened, but he shouldn't be blaming himself. It's not his fault.

"Deku thinks they targeted pink cheeks because of him?" Kat asked. My eyes widened at the thought. It would have been the perfect opportunity to try and take down the number one hero, kill the one he loves while out of town.

"Yes, but we don't know if she was an actual target or if she just got in their way. Uraraka and Iida were responding to an explosion that happened on the other side of town. When they got there, there was already multiple casualties and a rich business men with several high class bodyguards were killed. However, Iida did say it looked like they were trying to kill two birds with one stone because the minute they showed up, they focused most of their energy on her. She didn't even stand a chance and they kept Iida on his toes. He couldn't get to her in time." Todoroki explained.

Not many people knew about what exactly went on down there. Kat and I were on the opposite side of town, and by the time we got there, the villains were gone and Iida was crying over Uraraka's dead body. We were too late.

"Again, what does this have to do with us?" Kat asked, wanting to just get to the point.

Todoroki bit his lip. "You've seen him on the news right?" Both of us nodded our heads. "He looks fine, but when he's not working, he's been locking himself up inside his house. No one can seem to get him to come out, we've tried everything. We don't even know if he's taking care of himself, or even if he's gone out to even buy food."

"Why not break the door down?"

"That's a you thing, Bakugou. Besides, that's breaking and entering and we can't exactly force Midoriya to do as we ask."

My lips formed an o shape as I realized where this conversation was going. "You want us to try checking in on Midoriya?" I asked, making sure I was correct.

Todoroki looked at me and nodded. "Iida, Tsuyu, and I have tried everything. We figured maybe Bakugou and you might be able to do something. Bakugou has known him the longest and Kirishima, Midoriya respects you a lot. We're hoping he'll let the two of you in, since he won't let us."

Bakugou grunts. "If the damn nerd doesn't want to be bothered, then why should we waste our energy?"

"Because. You owe it to him, after everything you've done and because I don't think he is taking care of himself. I'm afraid we're going to find him dead in his house one day." Todoroki stressed, glaring slightly at Kat.

I turned to look at my boyfriend. "We should go. He's our friend and he needs us. We can at least try, Katsuki."

Kat looked at me, noticing the determination in my eyes and groaned. "Fine. We both have the day off tomorrow, we'll go then."

"Will Midoriya even be home?" I asked.

"Yes. He also doesn't work on Wednesday's, he should be there."

"Then it's settled. We'll see him tomorrow."
