"I wonder who Dr. Shepherd is gonna pick to go with her to the conference!" Jo exclaims as Colby shuts her locker. She opens her mouth to reply but Dr. Shepherd walks into the residents lounge.

"As you all know I have a Neuro conference in Massachusetts. Dr. Calahett is the resident chosen to come with me." Dr. Shepherd says.

"Thank you for this opportunity Dr. Shepherd it's an honor" Colby beams.
Amelia looks at Colby. Her stern face is intimidating. "Be ready in ten minutes, and for heaven's sake don't make me regret choosing you."

"Yes Dr. Shepherd" She replies. "Remember you are representing me. I'm counting on you and no screwing up in front of my colleagues." Amelia instructs.

"I'll go pack Dr. Shepherd" Colby says, confidence wavering. Amelia rolls her eyes before walking out.

Colby knows Dr. Shepherd doesn't really like her but Amelia's gruffness only attracts Colby more. She knows it's messed up. But how could someone not be attracted to her? Amelia Shepherd is perfect.

Colby goes to her apartment and packs her bag, she takes extra care packing her favorite red dress, hoping Amelia finds her attractive.

After packing Colby heads back to the hospital to meet Amelia before their flight.

Amelia waits in the lobby, she is looking at some patient files with a cup of coffee in her hand. When Colby arrives, she does not look at her. She has a stern expression "Let's go."

Amelia does not wait for a reply and starts walking to the parking lot. She does not look at Colby. Amelia unlocks her sports car and Colby gets in the passengers seat.

Colby is deep within her thoughts, of Amelia, and the trip itself. She has gone over her notes at least 100 times but still feels nervous. Plus Amelia seems angrier then usual.

They arrive at the airport. Amelia exits the car without saying a word. They both grab their luggage before walking into the terminal.

"We must hurry. Our flight is in twenty minutes. Let's go." Amelia orders

They arrive at the security check. Amelia is impatient. Colby starts to take off her shoes to pass through the metal detector. Amelia looks at her. "What are you doing?"

"Um taking off my shoes for security?" Colby stammers

"Don't you know you don't have to for TSA? Now the line will stop because of you." Amelia gives her a deadly look.

"I'm sorry Dr. Shepherd" Colby mumbles Amelia sighs. "Just go through."
...

Later on the plane, Colby looks at Amelia. Her heart is beating fast because Amelia is so close to her. Finally she decides to say something.

"Dr. Shepherd?" She starts before realizing she hadn't thought of what to say past that. Amelia looks at Colby. "What is it Calahett" she questions "Um never mind" Colby replies, embarrassed that she can't seem to form sentences.

Amelia rolls her eyes and turns her back, as if she is ignoring Colby, but she is caught watching her through the corner of her eyes.

"You wanted to say something, go ahead." Colby stays silent Amelia rolls her eyes, but turns to her again, her face showing annoyance. "Well?" She pries "I forgot what I was going to say I'm sorry for wasting your time." Colby looks down at her feet

Amelia sips her coffee, with a stern face, avoiding looking at Colby. This resident is going to be the death of her. She wouldn't have brought her if she didn't have the most promise.

Later on the flight, they reach the cruising altitude. Amelia takes her seat belt off. At this point, Colby notices how beautiful Amelia is. She is mesmerized by her. Suddenly, Colby turns around and sees how Amelia is looking at her.

Colby quickly looks away and Amelia continues looking at her, noticing how pretty Colby is.

Amelia leans back on her seat, putting her feet on the seat and turning her face away, but she can't stop stealing glances at Colby, her interest in her grows every moment.

They eventually reach Boston. They de-board the plane in a hurry. Colby notices how the airport personnel is very courteous to Amelia, she then notices how Amelia is giving orders, her commanding aura is obvious.

Colby can't help but be attracted to her coldness and authoritative personality. She wonders if one day maybe Amelia will have a soft spot for her.

Amelia exits the airport quickly. "We must hurry. I have a conference to present" Amelia says. Colby try to keep up the pace, although Amelia is walking at an impressive speed, she notices how Colby is trying to walk as fast as her, she likes her initiative.

They arrive to the convention center. Amelia seems to be the star of the conference. She gets a lot of attention and admirers. Colby is looking at Amelia, fascinated.

She wants her to notice her. Amelia is walking fast, while she is talking with some colleagues. Colby cannot help but walk with her, she is mesmerized by the woman.

Amelia is still walking with her colleagues, but she notices how Colby is following her. She is intrigued by this, and looks at Colby, but only for a second. She returns to the conversation with her colleagues.

"I must present, please excuse me for a moment." Amelia says to her colleagues. She walks away and does not look at Colby. She walks to the conference room and Colby realizes she has to stay behind, but cannot resist the urge to follow her.

Colby knows the repercussions she will face if she is caught but decides to stand in the back hoping she will not be noticed.

Amelia is standing at a podium, presenting a topic. She is dressed in a powerful and elegant white suit. Colby thinks she looks very beautiful. Her stern face shows her concentration and Colby can't take her eyes off the woman.

Finally Amelias presentation comes to an end and she stops talking. She sees Colby and is pissed at the resident for sneaking in.

Colby was almost sure she successfully didn't get caught until Amelia made eye contact with her. The look made her tremble. Colby knew that she was going to get yelled at for sneaking in the conference room and feels her heart beating fast.

Colby quickly exits the conference room, hoping that Amelia will at least be less angry if she left right away.

There is a long hall that leads to the conference hall. Colby starts to walk away, trying to maintain her composure. She is nervous and scared her boss is going to kill her. She turns around to see said boss following her.

Amelia catches up to her. She grabs Colby's arm and stops her. "Why are you following me?" Amelia is giving her a deadly look, making Colby tremble and stutter.

"I'm sorry Dr. Shepherd" is all Colby can manage to say. Terrified but also in awe of her bosses beauty.

"What were you trying to do? Was your intention to watch me work? Our presentation together is tomorrow. Not today. So you have no business being in that room" Amelia snaps holding her arm.

"Um I- I- your work is just so impressive and I couldn't help myself I'm sorry Dr. Shepherd" Colby rambles while blushing profusely as she attempts dig herself out of the hole she created.

Amelia looks Colby in the eyes, still holding her arm. The chemistry is obvious, and both are aware of it yet neither want to say so. "Are you in love with me?" Amelia's question shocks Colby— who blushes and tries to speak but it's impossible for her to talk.

"Dr. Shepherd I um no you're my boss I-" Colby finally manages to reply Amelia's hand tightens on Colby's arm. "Answer the question."

Colby spots a bathroom in the hall "I'll um be right back I gotta pee Colby" whispers while starting to walk away

Amelia's hand grips Colby's arm tighter. "Stop." Colby freezes. Her face heats when she looks at Amelia. Colby is terrified and cannot think clearly. She is absolutely speechless.

After collecting herself Colby tears her hand out of Amelia's deciding to ignore her and go to the bathroom anyway, hoping to get a moment to think.

Amelia follows her, and does not let Colby escape. She pulls her towards the bathroom wall. Colby notices how strong Amelia is and feels lightheaded. "Stay here." Amelia commands, still holding her arm. She looks directly at Colby, eyes filled with passion. She looks at her lips, Colby shivers with a mix of fear, but also with excitement.

"We should go check in to the hotel" Colby says trying to change the subject. She doesn't want to be rejected by her boss. Especially not in a public place. At least if they have this discussion it can be privately and later. Which will give Colby time to think.

Amelia's face softens a little. She releases Colby's arm and looks at her in the eyes. "Maybe it is a good idea to go to the hotel" she agrees. They both walk out of the conference building and across the parking lot to the hotel where they are staying at.

When they get inside the hotel Colby talks to the hostess. "Hi, we booked two rooms one for Calahett and one for Shepherd." She says

The hostess looks at both women. "Sorry, but Dr. Calahett only reserved the one room." The hostess apologizes. Amelia and Colby look at each other.

Colby panics "I definitely reserved 2, I have the receipt right here" she pulls the receipt out of her bag without checking.

Amelia and the hostess look at the receipt. Amelia is extremely annoyed when she sees Colby did only book the one room by accident. She sighs and looks at Colby. The hostess gives Colby the key.

"I'm sorry" Colby looks at Amelia, her voice is trembling. Amelia's face is still filled with annoyance. It's fine. I guess we will just have to be inconvenienced. Colby takes the key and notices that she is shaking with fear.

"I can sleep on the sofa you can have the bed Colby" says to fill the awkward silence within the elevator.

"Don't be ridiculous. We will just share the bed. I guess I will be uncomfortable as well." Amelia retorts, still annoyed. She walks to the room without looking at Colby.

The elevator reaches their floor and they enter the room. It's spacious, Colby tries to make small talk, "The view is amazing. Isn't it?" She suggests.

"We should get ready to rest. Tomorrow we have a busy schedule." Amelia sits on the bed and starts to take off her suit, and her shirt. She is wearing a black sexy bra set.

Holy shit Colby thinks, trying to take a mental picture of her boss. She tries not to stare as her face burns.

"Is something wrong?" Amelia's tone is cold. "No Dr. Shepherd" Colby mumbles almost in a trance. "Is there anything else you want to stare at?" Amelia asks, tone still cold.

"N- no- Im gonna take a shower" Colby says heading to the bathroom quickly.

Amelia lays back on the bed, crossing her legs. She is still sitting in her bra. Her eyes still filled with annoyance "Good, and hurry up. I have to work." Amelia reaches for her phone.

As Colby enters the bathroom Amelia thinks how much the girl angers her yet turns her on at the same time. Amelia started thinking about all the things she would do to Colby but quickly shakes these thoughts.

Meanwhile, Colby enters the bathroom, breathing deeply to calm her heart. She likes Amelia but is terrified at the same time. As she starts to undress, she notices her hands are shaking.

The water from the shower feels nice on Colby's body. As she lathers her hair with shampoo, she cannot think straight. Her thoughts drift to Amelia.

Colby starts to picture Amelia joining in. She rubs the soap on her body, her skin is steaming hot with the water. She can't stop thinking about how much she wants Amelia to touch her body and take control of her. Colby internally scolds herself, she needs to keep her thoughts professional, she can't think about her boss that way.

Amelia is still sitting on the bed, she's checking emails and sees that thirty minutes have passed. "Colby, you should hurry up. We have a busy schedule tomorrow." Amelia shouts

"Sorry Dr. Shepherd" Colby yells back

*After a few minutes, Colby's voice is heard again. She sounds panicked. "Dr. Shepherd, I need your help." Amelia's face changes. She stands up and walks to the bathroom door. Colby opens the door. She is wearing a towel, out of breath. "There is a spider in the shower." Colby explains in a very serious tone. Amelia looks angry at Colby, but rolls her eyes and enters the bathroom to deal with the problem.

Amelia has a hard time with the spider but manages to capture it and kill it. "You are useless." Amelia scoffs not even bothering to look at Colby. She notices how Colby looks at her with eyes full of fear, admiration and desire. "Dry yourself and get dressed." Amelia instructs before walking out of the bathroom.

Amelia goes to the bed, and sits down. She crosses her legs and waits for Colby. She is back to checking her phone, and acting as if Colby did not exist.

Colby walks into the room to grab her pajamas and notices Amelia is on her phone. Colby notices how her boss looks sexier and hotter than ever and cannot contain herself. She looks back at Amelia for a moment, even though she knows she should not do it.

She then changes into her pajamas, trying not to look at the stunning woman that is sitting in the bed. Colby looks at the clock, the time to rest is limited, and tomorrow there is a lot to do.

"Goodnight Dr. Shepherd" Colby says after getting into bed. Amelia is still on her phone, she looks in Colby's direction. "Good night. Sleep well." tone still cold and indifferent.

Amelia lays back in the bed, crossing her legs and Colby notices how her boss looks at her even when she tries not to. She feels excited and nervous at the same time. She tries to fall asleep, but her mind is playing with her, she winds up fantasizing about Amelia.

Colby fantasizes Amelia pinning her wrists above her head before kissing down her body and lets out an audible gasp.

Amelia's gaze is filled with suspicion. She looks at Colby who is trying to cover up her embarrassment. "What's wrong?" Amelia says sharply.

"Nothing sorry" Colby quickly replies "Are you sure about that?" Amelia's tone is more hostile than before.

"Yes um sorry Dr. Shepherd" Colby's face heats up, embarrassed is an understatement for how she's feeling. She wants the bed to swollen her whole.

"Why did you gasp like that?" Amelia's tone is filled with suspicion. She is looking at Colby with a firm gaze. Colby is too nervous to say a word.

At this point Amelia knows why Colby gasped but wants to hear it from the girl herself, so she chooses to play along hoping to get it out of her.

"Is there something wrong with your lungs?l Amelia says annoyed "N-no Dr Shepherd. I don't think so" Colby stammers.

"Are you sure?" Amelia presses. She puts her phone away, crosses her legs and waits for Colby to reply. Colby can feel all the emotions rushing on her body. She feels a mix of excitement and fear, and she starts to shake with nerves.

"I i- don't think so." Colby replies weakly heart about to explode. Amelia stares at her, eyes intense and hard. "You don't think so?" Amelia asks.

"No Dr. Shepherd" Colby tries to sound confident but her voice trembles. Amelia walks to Colby and kneels in front of her. She starts to examine Colby's face closely.

This makes Colby tremble even more. "Do you feel alright? You look nervous. You are sweating and you are shaking." Amelia's tone is cold and she looks at Colby as if she was a patient.

"I'm okay um it's nothing Dr. Shepherd" Colby insists. Amelia grabs Colby's hand. "Let me feel your pulse." Amelia says. Colby feels the heat and intensity of her boss's touch but manages to nod giving her permission. Amelia places her hand on Colby neck, checking her pulse while leaning in closer to her.

"You have an elevated heart rate, 150 beats per minute." Amelia speaks in a calm yet stern tone. She takes her hand off Colby's neck.

Amelia's gaze is still on Colby. Shes looking at her face, neck, and chest closely. She's still kneeling in front of Colby so they are at the same eye level.

"There's something else affecting you, and you do not seem fine at all." Amelia says calmly. She looks at Colby deeply with concern. Colby is trembling and speechless, she looks at the ground trying not to look at Amelia's gorgeous eyes.

Colby's breath hitches and Amelia's gaze softens. She can sense Colby's embarrassment and didn't want to break the resident. Amelia notices she is still shivering and her face is red.

"You are too nervous, you should calm down. There is no reason to be so scared of me. I am not going to hurt you." Amelia's tone is kinder and more caring than before and Colby almost melts.

Amelia takes a seat next to Colby. Colby looks at her. She cannot utter a word. She is breathing fast and deep, she cannot move, her body is tense and paralyzed. Amelia puts her hand on Colby's arm, caressing it gently. "You seem to be very nervous, is there anything I can do to help you?" Amelia's tone is more caring, but still calm.

Colby meets Amelia's eyes but quickly looks down. "No I'm ok Dr. Shepherd thank you" Colby replies.

Amelia's face is filled with concern. She didn't mean to make the girl that anxious. "Are you sure? Look at me, please." Amelia waits for Colby to look at her.

Colby finally looks her in the eye, blushing. "Yes, I should sleep we have a long day tomorrow"

Amelia has a small smile on her face when she looks at Colby. Her boss' gaze makes her feel all the emotions at the same time. She is excited, but also nervous and afraid as well.

"You definitely need to rest. I will look at the emails and messages for a few more minutes, and then sleep" Amelia says while walking over to her side of the bed, tone still kind.

Colby lays back down and Amelia gets back in bed. "Goodnight" Colby says before closing her eyes and trying to fall asleep

Goodnight Colby. Amelia looks at Colby for a moment, she notices how beautiful Colby looks while she sleeps. At this point Amelia can't deny she has feelings for the resident. She looks at the clock; it's 2am. She takes a deep breath and puts her phone down, and tries to sleep.

Once Colby hears Amelia put her phone down she knows the older women thinks she's asleep. So she waits a few minutes before coming closer to Amelia hoping Amelia will think that Colby just moves a lot while sleeping.

Amelia is almost asleep when she feels the warmth of Colby's body next to her. She thinks Colby is sleeping and is not aware of her surroundings. The girl is trembling but subconsciously trying to calm herself. Colby's body is very close to Amelia's and she can feel her brushing against her side.

Colby (who is very awake) keeps her eyes closed as Amelia— whom is still oblivious that she is not actually sleeping turns to face her.

"Oh, Colby what are you doing?"Amelia says sleepily but her tone shows annoyance.

"What? Sorry I was asleep" Colby says feigning innocence. "You're not the best liar, you can't fool me. Why did you come so close to me?" Amelia sits up in the bed before flopping back on the pillow as if she was going to go back to sleep.

"Um I just couldn't sleep" Colby manages to get out while blushing, almost feeling like a kid getting caught taking an extra cookie.

Amelia notices the blushing and her tone changes, almost excepting the fact that she wants Colby and giving into her urges.

"You're cute when you're blushing. You came close to me because you couldn't sleep? Did you want to cuddle with me?" Amelia questioned, almost mocking Colby with kindness.

"Maybe... " Colby mumbles. Extremely embarrassed but a part of her hopes Amelia will let her.

Amelia's face softens. She stares at Colby for second, then, she looks down and smiles. "That's cute." Colby looks at Amelia. Her eyes are filled with admiration for her boss's beauty. Colby lays back on the bed. Her body touches Amelia's once again.

"Fuck it" Amelia thinks before grabbing Colby's right leg and wrapping her other arm around her torso so she can pull Colby on top of her. Forcing the girl to lay on Amelia's chest

Amelia is almost as surprised by her own actions as Colby is. She freezes for a second, but then wraps her arms around Colby's waist, lifting her a bit. Colby feels safe on top of Amelia. Amelia smiles, and leans in to Colby. She whispers. "You wanted to cuddle."

Colby is dumbfounded that her boss pulled her on top of her but chooses not to ask questions as she cuddles deeper into Amelia.

Amelia looks at Colby for a moment, she stares at her face and her curves. Colby can feel Amelia's intense gaze. Colby lays still on top of Amelia and takes deep breaths. She feels all of Amelia's warmth coming to her as she cuddles closer.

A small smile appears on Amelia's face as she caresses Colby's body with her palms. She starts by caressing her legs, then her arms, and her back. She goes slow and every touch is done with care. Colby feels a lot of excitement building up inside her as Amelia caresses her body. Her heart is beating fast.

Colby whimpers at Amelia's touch never wanting the feeling to stop

Amelia realizes that Colby is enjoying her touch. She smiles and keeps caressing Colby's skin, her touch becomes more sensual. Colby cannot contain herself and lets out low moans.

"Come on baby it's time for bed, try to sleep" Amelia teases Colby who just nods into her bosses neck, hoping she doesn't stop touching her.

Amelia smiles again at Colby. Her touch becomes more seductive and her hands move lower to Colby's waist and butt. "You must be very tired, you need to rest Colby." Amelia's tone is filled with desire yet also, kindness and concern. Colby realizes that Amelia is not joking anymore.

"Goodnight Ame- Dr. Shepherd" Colby whispers, internally kicking herself for almost calling her boss by her first name.

"Goodnight, and you can call me Amelia, my dear." Amelia moves her right hand over Colby's thigh. Colby starts to tremble with all the desire and excitement that is building up within her.

Colby finally falls asleep, listening to Amelia's heartbeat. Amelia waits till Colby's breathing evens out before closing her eyes

Amelia feels Colby fall asleep. She looks at Colby's face, she looks innocent and peaceful when she sleeps. This makes Amelia feel attracted to Colby yet also protective. Amelia's gaze stays on Colby for a moment, then she falls asleep as well.

A/N: OK SO THIS IS PART ONE AGH!! So I acc have the whole story written don't worry but it was almost 7k words so I thought I'd split it into 2 parts. (First of all idk how I wrote 7k words in one night) I usually write in the "I" perspective but I decided to try something different. So I hope you enjoyed and I promise you Colby and Amelia acc get somewhere in pt 2😜 btw this is not edited whatsoever.
