Another Addison one >:)

You started your internship this year. You'd become close friends with the other interns - Meredith, Izzie, Alex, George, and Cristina, but your best friend was Meredith Grey. You lived at her house with her, studied surgeries together, and you knew all about her 'McDreamy'. But you knew him a lot better than she did...
You knew he was married to your sister. But you assumed Addison would have the sense to walk away and leave it. File a quiet divorce and Meredith would never have to know... You didn't see the point in upsetting her for no reason.
Until you finished work one day and was getting ready to leave with Meredith and Derek.
"So you must be the woman who's been screwing my husband." Your sister held her hand out to greet Meredith.
She always knew how to make an entrance.
"Addie stop." You and Derek said simultaneously.
Meredith looked at Derek with disbelief then turned to look at you. You could see the hurt in her eyes. Then she walks off.
"Mer wait!" You called after her.
"Oh well, let her go. Good to see ya sis." Addison pulls you in for a hug.
You shook her off and ran after Meredith.
She was sat on a bench outside the hospital.
"You knew." Was all she could say to you, tears streaming down her face.
"They were getting divorced... it was in the past!! I thought not telling you to spare your feelings was the right thing to do. Obviously I can see that it was the very worst thing I could've done." You sat down next to her.
"How did you know?" Meredith sniffled.
"Addison's my sister. I don't like to talk about that though. She's the talented one of the family. Everyone loves her! No matter how hard I try I'll never be the double-board certified baby-saving hero that is my sister, Addison Forbes Montgomery." You said, rolling your eyes.
"And I'll never be the genius, inspirational surgeon that is my mother, Ellis Grey." Meredith gave you a sad smile.
You smiled back.
"Don't think I'm not mad at you still." She says. "But I'm more mad at him."
"I'm so sorry Mer. Had I known that this would-"
"Shh. It's done. Let's just go home." She said.
Ever since that day, word got around that you were the great Addison Forbes Montgomery's little sister. Which was exactly what you didn't want to happen!
She would try to talk to you in the corridors but you were so mad at her you just walked straight past. She showed up out of the blue and ruined everything. Now there's even more pressure on you to be as good as her, every time you mess up Bailey reminds you that Addison would never make that mistake, Meredith no longer trusts you, the nurses whisper when you walk past, and evil spawn is screwing your sister (satan). What she did wasn't fair. So you weren't about to be fair back.
Until one day she comes up to you and before you had a chance to walk away she said:
"Bizzy's here."
Your mother. Had come to visit. Out of the blue? Was showing up uninvited some sort of genetic trait in your family?!
You decided you'd try to stay extra busy that day. You really didn't want to face them both.
But you couldn't escape them at lunch. You were eating in the cafeteria when Addison walks up to you.
"Bizzy's on the car park. Don't keep her waiting."
You knew better than to keep your mother waiting. You went outside to meet her.
"So y/n. You're a doctor now?" She asked.
You hadn't kept in touch with her since you left home. She always made it known that you were her least favourite. She never had a loving nature towards her other children but especially not to you. You weren't a naughty child you just never got the grades your siblings did. Archer got good grades without trying and Addison was the perfect child. This, obviously, made you a failure in your mothers eyes. You thought that if you cut ties with her, the pressure on you would ease off. As of yet, it hasn't.
"Yes." You responded.
All she could do was raise her eyebrow.
"So... what specialty are you thinking of going into?" Her attempt to make conversation seemed forced and unnatural.
"I think maybe peds... I just love the idea of-" you started.
"No." Was all she said, waving a hand in your face to shut you up.
"What?"
"No peds. You're above that. You're a Forbes Montgomery. We don't let grubby little creatures throw up on us." She said with a face of disgust.
"Grubby little creatures? You mean children?" You replied.
"Don't be like this. You've always had to be difficult. If you're going to train to be a doctor at least train to be one I can respect, not a clown wiping snotty noses all day." She said, coldly.
"I'll be the best peds surgeon in the world... it still won't be enough for you though." You replied.
She just waved her hand at you and dismissed you.
You returned to the cafeteria holding back tears.
"Hey try not to take what Bizzy has to say to heart you know how she can be..." Addison says.
"Please leave me alone." You replied, tears spilling down your face.
From that moment, you knew you'd have to work extra hard if you wanted to be a great surgeon like your sister. You didn't want to spend the rest of your life as a disappointment.
You stopped hanging out with Meredith and drinking tequila. You just stayed in your room and went over your notes for your intern exam.
Even at work on a quiet day, you'd head to your favourite supply closet to get some quiet time to go over your notes.
"Don't you think you're overdoing it? I don't want you to burn yourself out..." Meredith asked you, worried, one day after you refused to come eat with her again.
"No you don't get it. I didn't inherit my family genius like you." You said, bitterly.
She left you to it.
However, the pressure you were putting on yourself was becoming unbearable.
One day, you were on a case with McDreamy because the chief had made all the interns swap specialties.
"Nice work, go eat something and I'll update you when the surgery is done." He said.
"Can't I watch?" You asked.
He hesitated.
"What's Meredith said?" You asked, sighing.
"She's just worried. She thinks you're overdoing it. And so does Addison..." Derek said.
"Ok well if I was Meredith I'd be more worried about the fact that you're still having friendly conversations with your ex wife." You said, bitterly.
"Eat. Relax. You're not watching this surgery. Goodbye y/n." He walked off, shrugging.
You went down to the cafeteria but instead of eating you chose to look over the notes for the surgery he was performing. You wanted the knowledge and considering he wouldn't let you watch...
"I came to update you but I don't think you deserve it... I told you to eat something and relax. Not to stress yourself out over this procedure." Derek said calmly.
"I know but I just can't get my head around this technique can you explain it to me please because-" you started.
"No." He cut you off.
"It's a teaching hospital. You can't punish me for wanting to learn." You tell him.
"Learn from someone else. I'm not endorsing this." He said.
"Derek please!! Let me learn!! I need to- you don't understand- I need to be- I need-" you were struggling to catch your breath.
He couldn't understand that you needed to be the best. That's the only way you could be happy is if you weren't a disappointment.
"Y/n sit down. I'll explain it to you another time. Right now just relax and take a break..." he took a step towards you.
You just shook your head, tears rolling down your face. Then you rushed off. To your favourite supply closet.
You sat down in the corner with the book on your lap but your vision was blurred with tears and you couldn't breathe.
You heard someone knock the door, gently.
They opened it a fraction and you saw it was Addison.
"G-get o-out." You said between shaky breaths.
She sat in front of you and rested her hands on your shoulders, forcing you to look at her.
"Deep breaths." She said, taking a deep breath in and motioning for you to do the same.
"A-addie I can't b-breathe!" You gasped.
"I know, you're ok. Come on, breathe with me. It's gonna be alright." She said, wiping a tear off your cheek and drawing another deep breath with you.
When your breathing got a little better you just gave in and collapsed into her arms, you were exhausted. She held you with one hand behind your head as you sobbed into her scrubs.
"It's not fair!" You cried.
"I know, I know." She hugged you tighter.
"I just want to be as good as you! I wanna make Bizzy proud. I don't wanna be the family disappointment anymore!!" You continued to cry.
Addison had never heard you cry like this before and it was worrying her. You sounded distraught.
"You were never a disappointment." She says quietly into your hair.
"I failed my biology exam and had to re-take it." You sniffled.
"In middle school?" She questioned.
You nodded, standing up and trying to compose yourself.
"It was middle school that doesn't matter!!" She said.
"You remembered it was middle school. The whole family remembers it was middle school. I showed them what a disappointment I am that day." You tell her.
"I understand the pressure there is to please Bizzy-"
"No you don't. I have to work 10 times as hard as you!! And even then, I'm still not enough for her!! I'm too stupid to even understand this technique in this dumb textbook!!!" You shouted, throwing the textbook at the door.
"Y/n..." you turned to look at Addison.
She seemed worried about you.
"Why can't I be like you?" You asked her, a tear trickling down your face.
"You're better. I cheated on my husband. With his best friend. Then I ruined his new relationship out of spite. I stamp on bees when I know you're not supposed to... but I do it anyway because they freak me out. You held one when you were little. Told me to stroke it but I wouldn't go anywhere near. You used to make me 'breakfast in bed' too but it was just lucky charms without the rainbows because you would only eat the rainbows. You'd bring it up to me and Susan would have to clean the kitchen counters because you'd spill milk everywhere trying to make it. You have the kindest heart. You always have and you always will. It's a blessing that you're not like the rest of us. Adulterous robots. You've got everything going for you. Brains, beauty, and love. I love you. So so much. More than Bizzy. More than Archer. More than Derek. I love you the most." She pulls you in for another hug, mostly to hide the fact that she'd started tearing up aswell.
You needed to hear that.
"I'm sorry." You say. "For ignoring you. I was jealous. You show up and everyone automatically loves you. I thought I had to be you. I love you Addie." You tell her.
She gives you a little kiss on your head.
"Come on then. Let's take you home." She put her arm around you and led you out of the supply closet.
"I'm glad we can stop ignoring each other now - I missed you." You said, smiling up at her.
"Ok first of all, I was never ignoring you, remember? Secondly, I missed you too." She says, smiling back.
"Can we stop for food I'm starving?" You asked.
"You better not suggest McDonald's - I remember how much you loved it as a kid." Addison replies.
"What's wrong with McDonald's?!!" You asked, pretending to be offended.
"It's so greasy!!" She laughed.
"But that's what makes it so tasty!!!" You insisted.
"Fine. Start dipping your fries in the milkshake though and I'll throw you out of my car."
"You remembered that I do that?" You laughed. "We haven't been to McDonald's together since I was little and you still remember that?!!" You laughed.
"It scarred me." She says in a serious tone.
"Shut up!" You replied.
