Maya was not looking forward to this day. She knew it would be hard, she knew the doctors would not give good news, but that could not prepare her for the cold reality of it. As she walked into the office, she felt her heart sink. She could already feel the tears welling up inside. 

Maya took a seat in front of the doctor. He had her medical charts and test results in front of him, and he was not going to sugarcoat anything. Maya knew that she was sick, and she knew that the longer she waited, the worse it would be. She felt frustrated with herself, for letting it get to this point. She wished she had done something sooner. What was she gonna tell Carina? Her thoughts were broken up as the doctor began to speak.

The doctor did his best to be gentle with his words. But he was a straight talker, and he told her the truth. Her illness was progressing rapidly, and without treatment, she would not survive much longer. Maya wanted to be angry at the doctor for saying these things, but deep down she knew he was right. She fought back tears as she tried to make sense of it all. It wasn't fair. Carina didn't deserve this. She deserves someone better , someone healthy, someone who's not a burden. 

The doctor continued to talk, discussing her options and the different treatments that were available. Maya felt overwhelmed, and she couldn't keep it together anymore. She broke down into tears, and the doctor did his best to stay calm and explain everything to her. Maya couldn't believe that this was happening. She felt hopeless and terrified. All she wanted was to go back to how things were before, but she knew that it couldn't happen. She hated this. She hated being sick and she hated being a burden to Carina. 

Maya was overwhelmed, and she couldn't stop the tears from falling. She felt like her whole world was crumbling around her. Her thoughts were a mix of anger, sadness, and fear. She felt helpless, and she hated that feeling more than anything. She hated the pain her illness was causing, and she hated how it was affecting the people she loved. Carina deserved better than this, and Maya couldn't help but feel like she was letting everyone down.

The doctor went on to explain the different treatment options available, but Maya couldn't focus on what he was saying. It all felt too overwhelming and too much to take in. Her thoughts were a whirl of emotions, and she felt lost. She didn't know what to do, and she didn't know how she was going to get through this. She knew she had to be strong and fight for Carina, but she felt scared and drained. She felt like she was fighting a losing battle.

Maya went home to Carina after her appointment with the doctor. She was exhausted and emotionally drained. She didn't want to have to have this conversation, but she knew that she had to be honest and open with Carina. She found  Carina in the kitchen making her famous lasagne. Carina heard Maya come inside and turned around to look at her. Carina could tell that something was wrong. She could see how exhausted and stressed Maya was. - Bambina, are you okay? Carina asked Maya in a concerned tone. Maya took a deep breath and tried to find the words to tell Carina. She knew it was going to be a hard conversation, but she had to be honest with her.

 Maya  shook her head and told Carina everything the doctor had said; all the details they had discussed in the appointment. Carina's face was shocked and devastated. She couldn't believe what she was hearing, and she didn't want to believe that Maya was really sick. She didn't want to believe that her wife was dying. She was completely heartbroken.

After a few seconds of silence Carina takes Mayas hand in her own and says - I'll be with you every step of the way ,Bambina.

Maya felt overwhelmed by Carinas love and support, she couldn't help but feel scared. She was terrified of what the future held and she didn't want to put Carina through this. She felt guilty for the burden she was placing on her. Carina was her wife, she was supposed to be taking care of her, not the other way around. The guilt and pain was overwhelming.

The next few days were a blur for Maya. She was numb to everything; the doctors' appointments, the treatments, the stress and heartache. She couldn't think straight, and she just felt tired and hopeless. Carina was there for her every step of the way, but Maya knew that this wasn't fair to her. She felt like she was ruining their marriage, ruining Carina's life. She didn't know how to deal with it all, and she couldn't see any way out. She was scared and feeling lost. 

The final weeks were difficult and challenging for Carina and Maya. Carina did her best to be there for her, but Maya was tired and drained and just felt like giving up. Carina could see how sick Maya was getting, and she didn't want to lose her. She promised to never leave her side, and she meant it. Maya felt loved and supported by Carina, and she felt bad for being such a burden to her. Carina would do anything for Maya, and she was determined to be by her side till the very end.
