Episodio 9, Segreti

I segreti non si possono nascondere alla scienza, la medicina tende a svelare le menzogne. Tra le mura di un ospedale la verità viene messa a nudo. Come manteniamo i nostri segreti al di fuori dell'ospedale, beh quella è un'altra storia. Una cosa è certa, qualsiasi cosa tentiamo di nascondere non siamo mai pronti per il momento in cui la verità viene fuori. È questo il problema dei segreti, come le avversità adorano la compagnia, si accumulano, accumulano fino a quando non prendono il sopravvento su tutto. E non c'è più posto per altro, e sei così pieno di segreti che ti senti come se stessi per esplodere. (Meredith)Quello che la gente tende a dimenticare è quanto ci si senta bene quando ci si libera di un segreto, che sia bello o brutto, comunque si resta allo scoperto che ci piaccia o no. E una volta che i segreti sono stati rivelati, non occorre più nascondersi dietro ad essi. Il problema dei segreti è che nel momento in cui pensi di controllarli, non li controlli. (Meredith)

Meredith : [voiceover] Secrets can't hide in science. Medicine has a way of exposing the lies. Within the walls of the hospital, the truth is stripped bare. How we keep our secrets outside the hospital - well, that's a little different. One thing is certain, whatever it is we're trying to hide; we're never ready for that moment when the truth gets naked. That's the problem with secrets - like misery, they love company. They pile up and up until they take over everything, until you don't have room for anything else, until you're so full of secrets you feel like you're going to burst.

Meredith: [voiceover] The thing people forget is how good it can feel when you finally set secrets free. Whether good or bad, at least they're out in the open, like it or not. And once your secrets are out in the open, you don't have to hide behind them anymore. The problem with secrets is even when you think you're in control, you're not.
