4.0 A Bond Between A Metal And A Nonmetal

Danielle Henderson sat in her bedroom on the ground with a chemistry book and all of her notes laid out. "Alright, so a bond between a metal and a nonmetal is called..." Daniel trailed off, expecting Billy to finish her sentence. She looked up from her papers to see why he wasn't answering.

Billy was staring at her.

"What is it?"

"Huh?"

"A bond between a metal and a nonmetal."

"I don't know." Billy shrugged.

Danielle's eyes widened. "What do you mean you don't know? I've been explaining chemical bonds to you for the past twenty minutes." The girl let out a groan. He had been the one to ask her to study, but he wouldn't listen to anything she told him.

"I know." Billy nodded as he shifted his body underneath him. "And I have been trying to listen, but then I just start staring at your beautiful lips and think about how much I want to kiss you." The Henderson girl's mouth widened out of pure shock of what he just said. She felt the piece of paper in her hands gently fall on to the ground. "You're so beautiful, Dani, and all this chemistry talk has me thinking about our chemistry." Billy started to lean in closer towards Danielle.

Danielle wanted to kiss him. I mean, he was Billy Hargrove.

But, then she thought of Steve, and how she told him nothing was going to happen between her and Billy.

"We agreed this would be just studying." Danielle looked down at the ground. She quickly retrieved the paper from the ground, frantically looking for where she had left off.

Billy placed his hand softly on Danielle's cheek, causing her to look back up at him. "I don't think that's what you really want, is it princess?" The blonde beauty in front of Danielle glanced down at her lips.

"But-"

"Stop thinking about Steve. Steve isn't here. I am."

Billy was right. Steve was never going to love her the way she wanted him to. Billy wanted Danielle, for some reason unknown to her. She wanted him too.

That was when she quickly leaned in and pressed her lips against Billy's. Danielle felt him smirk against her lips as he kissed her back. His hands moved down her body and landed on her waist.
Billy's lips were magical. He was one hell of a kisser. Danielle pulled away, a smile appearing on her face. "You're really cool, Dani." Billy chuckled as he stretched his legs out in front of him on the ground.

"Thanks." Danielle looked down at the ground as she tried to collect herself. "You too." Billy could tell the girl was not used to being treated like thing. He knew that Steve would always scare away all of her potential suitors, or at least that was what Tommy told him. But, Steve couldn't scare away Billy.

Billy pushed a loose strand of Danielle's hair behind her ear. "I wanna get you know you more."

"Really?" Danielle popped her head up. Her eyes met his beautiful blue ones, and she felt herself begin melt inside.

Billy leaned closer towards her. "I wouldn't have kissed you if I didn't, sweetheart." Danielle smiled. This boy sure knew what to say to her. "Can I kiss you again?" She nodded her head slowly, her eyes never leaving his.

After the Henderson family had eaten dinner, the phone rang. "I'll get it!" Dustin screamed as he rushed towards the phone and picked it up. "Henderson residence, this is Dustin speaking. How may I be of service?" Danielle laughed at her brother, earning a glare from their mother.

"Oh, hi, Steve. Yeah, one second." Dustin sighed before looking over at Danielle and placing the phone against his shoulder. "Danielle, Steve Harrington is on the phone for you." The girl had no idea why her brother was acting like this, but it was kind of entertaining.

"Thanks, little dude." Danielle smiled before running to her bedroom and picking up her phone. "Hey, Steve."

"Hi."

"Why'd you call?"

Danielle heard Steve pause for a second before speaking. "Oh- uh- I just wanted to ask if you wanted me to drive you to school again tomorrow."

"Yeah, that'd be great." The girl watched as the house cat, Mews, entered her bedroom before jumping onto the bed and laying down next to Danielle. "Is that all you wanted?" Steve said nothing in response. "Steve?" Danielle chuckled as she began to pet the cat.

"Yeah- Uh-" Steve cleared his throat awkwardly. "How did today go?" He wanted to know what happened. He wanted to know if Billy did anything to her, and if he would have to beat him up any time soon.

"What do you mean?" Danielle cocked an eyebrow.

"Billy."

Danielle's eyes widened.

She had to tell him.

But, she didn't want to.

But, she knew she had to.

Danielle nodded slowly. "It went well."

"So, he didn't try anything on you?"

"Well-"

"Dani..."

Danielle could tell that Steve was disappointed, and she didn't even really say anything yet. He knew what was about to come out of her mouth, or at least one of the potential versions.

"I kissed him."

"You did?"

"Yeah." Danielle closed her eyes as she brought her pillow to her face. "It just kind of happened." Danielle had made a huge mistake.

Steve was silent for a second before speaking again. "You told me that nothing was going to happen, that it was just going to be studying." She could hear the disappointment in his voice, but why for? This was her life, not Steve's.

"Steve, I-"

"But you fucking kissed him."

"Why are you so upset?"

Danielle heard Steve let out a sigh. "Because he's just using you to get to me, and it is fucking getting to me."

"But why do you care so much?"

"I care about you more than anyone." Danielle felt horrible at this point. Steve was the best person in her life, and this is how she repaid him? "You've always been there for me, and I can't lose you."

She let out a scoff at his words and looked down at her cat, who had fallen asleep. "You're not going to lose me."

"How do I know that you aren't just lying about that like you were today."

"I wasn't fucking lying to you today." Danielle was starting to get a little frustrated with him. "I didn't mean for it to happen. We were just sitting there talking, and then I kissed him, okay? That's it. Stop making such a big deal about it." Her hand went through her hair, pushing her fringe behind her ear.

"Well, it is a big deal to me."

"Steve, shut up. I don't understand why you're so against this boy when all he's done is be nice to me." She felt a tear run down her cheek, which she quickly whipped away.

"Yeah." The pair went silent for about a minute before Steve spoke again. "I'll see you tomorrow."

"Okay." Danielle frowned as she hung up her phone.

She felt a pang inside her chest after having that conversation with Steve. The two of them had never had a fight like that before.
