Merci's POV

"Ciel I need your help with something."

"Do tell."

"Interesting. But I don't understand one thing. Why come to me for help with this? Why not Grell or Alois?" Ciel asks.

"Or Claude?" Sebastian asks.

"Why would she ask Claude for help?" Ciel asks Sebastian.

"Well Claude is her father." Sebastian says.

"What?" I say and he looks over at me with an amused look on his face.

"Oh you didn't know? Strange." Sebastian says. 

"How do you know?" I ask him.

"Different demons have different, what's a good word, traces and so do reapers. You have a merge of Claude's trace and a reaper's." Sebastian says. 

"So Ciel, you will be helping me correct?" I ask him.

"Come back tomorrow at noon. I need to think this over." He says.

"Alright." I say as there is a harsh flash of lightning and a fearsome boom of thunder as it begins to storm. The lightning creating false daylight.

"Will you be able to make it home in this weather?" Ciel asks.

"Is that a bit of worry in your voice Phantomhive? I may be asking for your help with this one task, but we are still enemies." I say.

"Of course I'm not worried about you. If something were to happen to you though on your way home from visiting me, who do you think he would blame? The storm? No." He says and walks over to a coat hanger in the corner of the room. "Though I can't let a young lady go out in a storm like that without a coat." He says and hands me his coat. I quickly pull it on.

"Thank you I guess." I and leave the Phantomhive estate. I quickly make my way home. I quietly walk in and silently close the door behind me.

"Merci where have you been?" Alois asks sounding pissed.

"I am still a reaper Alois. I do have a to-die list to take care of." I say calmly.

"I know you're lying." He says.

"Alois. Why would I lie to you?" I say and smile at him. He just glares.

"That's Phantomhive's coat." He says in a harsh voice. "Why were you with him?!" He yells.

"I wasn't. I was out collecting souls." I say, but now my voice sounds scared instead of confident.

"CLAUDE!!" Alois screams.

"Yes Your Highness?" Claude asks Alois.

"Claude this is an order. I want you to lock Merci in her room and make sure she can't get out." Alois says.

"Yes Your Highness." Claude says and Alois starts to walk away.

"Alois! Think about what you're doing! Don't you trust me?" I say and I see him hesitate.

"Do I trust you? I did. After tonight? I'm don't think I can." He says and walks away. I turn to Claude.

"Did my boyfriend seriously just order my father to ground me because he isn't sure if he can trust me?" I ask him.

"I believe so." He says and I sigh.

~~time skip to the next morning 8:30 am~~

I sit up in bed and sigh. Normally I would go to the library, but I don't think Alois will let me do so. I lay back down and stare at the ceiling. This is boring! There is a knock on my door. I wonder if it's Alois...

"Come in." I say and the triplets walk in.

"What do you 3 want?" I ask.

"Alois wants us to lead you his study." Timber says.

"Alright." I say and snap my fingers so I'm now in a purple and black dress (the dress at the top), black flats and my hair in a perfect bun. I hop off of my bed and start walking to Alois' study when a thought comes to mind.

"You never talk. Why talk today?" I ask them.

"Claude is in town with Miss. Hannah so we just won't talk around Alois." Thompson says.

"Do you know why they went into town?" I ask them.

"No." Canterbury says.

"Is it true Claude is your father?" Thompson asks and Timber elbows him in the side.

"Yes." I answer and know on the door to Alois' study.

"Come in." He says and I walk in looking down at my shoes.

"Merci, look up at me. Please." Alois says. I can't he will either be mad or disappointed or both and I don't want to see that in his eyes.

"So are you mad or disappointed?" I ask him.

"I'm a little mad." He says. 

"So what did you want to talk to me about?" I ask him.

"Can we walk in the garden?" He asks.

"Sure." I say and he smiles a little. After walking in silence though the garden for a bit Alois stops.

"Something wrong?" I ask him.

"Why do you stay?" He asks me.

"What do you mean?" I ask him.

"Why do you stay here with me? Why do you care about me?" He asks.

"I stay here with you because I want to make sure I'm always there for you. I care about you because you are the first person to ever really care about me." I say.

"But why care about me? I won't always be here for you." He says and I hug him.

"I know that. But when you leave me you might just see someone you care about even more than me." I say.

"W-who?" He asks.

"Lucca of course." I say.

"How do you know about Lucca?" he asks me and I release him from the hug.

"I knew him." I say.

"How?" Alois asks.

~~flash back~~

As I walked through a small village near a river I saw a little boy with brown hair being bullied by a group of kids that must have been around the age I look, but a little younger.

"What do you 3 think you're doing?" I ask the 3 bullies.

"Nothing that concerns you." The 3 says.

"Oh is that so? Well it just so happens that what you are doing does concern me." I say and my chainsaw appears in my hands. "Now why don't you 3 leave him alone. Or if it really matters to you that much I guess you could try fighting me, but I might accidently kill you if you do that." I say and with wide eyes the 3 run away.

"I could have taken them on my own!" The little boy says.

"Yes I'm sure you could have. I'm very sorry." I say and smile and my chainsaw disappears.

"Was that magic? What you did with that chainsaw." He asks. I never thought of it as magic... I guess you could say that though.

"Yes it is." I say and he smiles.

"Does that make you a fairy!?" He asks excitedly. 'No I'm a reaper that kills people and I just have a soft spot for kids. In fact I will most likely kill you one day.' Isn't the kind of thing a little kid needs to be told. 

"Yeah. I'm a fairy. Protector of children." I say with a smile.

"Yay! I met a fairy!" He says with the brightest smile ever. "What's your name?" He asks.

"I'm Merci. What's your name?" I ask him. 

"I'm Lucca! Can we be friends?!" He asks.

"Sure we can." I say and he hugs me.

"Yay! I'm friends with a fairy!" Lucca cheers. 

~~still flash back ~~ night of the village burning~~

I had just finished collecting a soul when I saw the flames. I rushed there as fast as possible.

"Lucca! Lucca!" I yelled as I run through the village. Then I saw him laying on the ground by the forest. I run over to him, but stopped dead in my tracks when I saw him up close. 

"L-lucca." I said tears streaming down my face. I had been watching over him as much as I could and when I got the chance we would play a game of tag or hide & seek. I looked at the to-die list and there at the bottom was his name, but no soul to take. This must have been what his deal with the demon he made a contract was. He had told me about that, but never said what this demon looked like. I hugged him close, but I heard someone coming. I let go of him and pulled up the hood on my coat.

"What are you doing with Lucca!?" Said a little boy's voice. That must be the older brother Lucca loved so much. 

"He is dead. I'm terribly sorry for your loss. He had made a contract with a demon. There is nothing I could do to help him." I say looking down so he didn't see my face.

"Who are you!?" He demanded.

"I'm...I'm Lucca's fairy." I say and walk away crying.

~~Flash back over~~

"That was you?!" Alois says shocked. I just nod.

"Yes. I guess I should have told you sooner, but i-it's hard thinking about Lucca." I say and try to blink back a few tears only to fail. Alois hugs me and wipes them away.

"I know and it's alright." He whispers to me and kisses my forehead. 

"You know a little birdie told me that your birthday is tomorrow." Alois says smiling.

"Is that so?" I ask. I don't really do anything for my birthday, but I'm sure it would be fun if I spent the day with Alois. 

"Do you have any ideas as to want to do for your birthday?" He asks me.

"Not the slightest." I say. Alois chuckles.

"I promise we'll have a wonderful time tomorrow. I'll surprise you with something." He says and I smile. We walk back and Alois says he has a lot of paperwork to do today to I go to the library. Next thing I know the sun is rising.... Strange normally when I read all day someone get's me for dinner. Alois should be a wake soon and I should change his bandages today and see if it's healed at all. I doubt it though. Alois just won't stay in bed so it can heal! I walk to his room and Claude walks out.

"I trust Alois is awake then?" I ask.

"Yes." He says and I knock on the door.

"Come in!" Alois says and I do so. "Good morning Merci! Happy Birthday!" He says giving me a hug.

"Good morning Alois." I say.

"Now I know I promised I would spend all day with you, but I must go somewhere this morning!I'll be home before you know it though." He says and pulls a smallish box from his pocket. I got you something though." He says and hands it to me. I open it and it's a locket in the shape of a red heart.

"Look inside of the locket." He says. I do so and there is a black and white picture of us smiling and an engraving that reads:

For my one and only love, Merci.

I smile at him and he clasps is around my neck.

"Now I will always be with you." He says and gives me a quick kiss before leaving. The triplets (with the help of Hannah) make me breakfast and then I look at the to-die list for today. I scan the page until I get to the bottom and I freeze.

"Oh god." I whisper to myself. There at the very bottom is Alois' name, but no soul to take. I know the location well so I run there as fast as I can. I get there only seconds to late. Alois is dead. Claude stands up and looks a bit surprised to see me.

"Oh hello Merci." Grell says a few yards away, but I ignore him and run over to Alois. He's dead... 

"How could you Claude." I say quietly as tears fall.

"He was of no use to me, only his soul is." Claude says.

"Some father you are then." I say and he raises an eyebrow.

"So who told you?" Claude asks.

"Sebastian." I answer

"Why are you so attached to him Merci? He's just a kid." Grell says.

"Shut up Grell." I say.

"I'm just saying. No need to-" He doesn't get to finish because I have you chainsaw on only a centimeter from his thought, and pinned to a tree with his chainsaw on the other side of the field.

"I said SHUT UP!" I say and for the first time I saw true fear in his eyes. I took a deep breath and back off.

"What do you mean Alois' soul is useful to you?" I ask Claude.

"You'll see soon. I've come up with a little plan and in a way it is a bit like what he had wanted." Claude says. I walk over to Alois' body and pick it up.

"Would it be alright if I still stayed at the trancy estate?" I ask Claude.

"Yes." he answers. I nod my head and walk off to the place I buried Lucca's body about a mile away. I took all of the blue bells and placed them around him. I wrapped my hand around the locket he gave me hardly even an hour ago.

"Merci?!" I hear Ronald's voice say. It feels like it's been years since I last saw him. "What's wrong Merci?" He asked once he got closer. I just hugged him and cried. I must have looked like such a silly child to him. Ronald just hugged my back trying to comfort me best he could. A while later I calm down.

"What's wrong Merci?" He asks.

"Alois Trancy is dead."

A/N: hi. I cried a little when writing this. I don't think we'll ever see Ronald in this fan fic again... Oh and has anyone else ever tried that trick where you put a coin on your elbow and then try and catch it?... well I just spent the last 10 minutes doing that.....
