The modern view and personality of Ahana in juxtaposition to the workings of ancient royalty serves as a good recipe for conflict and drama.

Nevertheless, the pacing is another area that could use some improvement. For instance, some of the details seem a bit redundant, like the constant reference of Ahana being very analytical. It is important to make it clear that she is clever, but perhaps it would be better if that was demonstrated instead.
