Billie Joe Armstrong
Today was the day. The day that I was going to see Green Day. One of my favourite bands. I was absolutely ecstatic!
I pulled on my favourite Green Day tshirt and my red converse before grabbing my phone off its charger and running downstairs.
Once in the kitchen, I grabbed an apple and checked what time my train was. I realised that I had plenty of time and didn't need to hurry. This really annoyed me because I wanted to get to London quickly.
Finally, it was time for me to leave. I grabbed my phone and my bag. Not forgetting my wallet in case I wanted to buy some merchandise.
As I was walking to the train station I pulled my earbuds out of my pocket and pressed play on my Green Day playlist. I smiled as Boulevard of Broken Dreams came on. That was my absolute favourite Green Day song!
When I got to the station I saw that I had 5 minutes to get to the platform. I quickly bought a ticket and ran onto the platform.
Once I was on the train I found a seat and stared out of the window. I could barely contain my excitement as Know Your Enemy blasted through my earbuds.
I was the first one off the train when it pulled into Euston station. Now I had to get the Underground to Stanmore as that was the closest station to the O2 Arena where the concert would be.
When I got to the Arena I ran inside. I was surprised to see that the merchandise stall was already open. I walked over and bought myself a couple of tshirts and a poster.
It was 6:00pm. The time when the concert would start! I was standing in the front row, expectantly waiting for Billie, Mike and Tré to come on stage. I screamed as I saw them.
'England!' Billie screamed into his microphone. 'Billie!' I yelled happily. 'This song's off an album called Dookie!' Billie said into the microphone. The crowd erupted into loud whoops and holers when the guys broke into Basket Case.
After a few songs, the guys started to play Boulevard of Broken Dreams. I felt my eyes begin to tear up as I looked at Billie. I could've sworn that he suddenly made eye contact with me.
When the song was over there was a moment of complete silence before Billie said into the microphone: 'Would the girl in the font row who was crying during our last song please come up on stage?'
'No!' I thought to myself. I'm pretty sure that my heart momentarily stopped when I heard those words.
I then found myself being helped on stage by a security guard. I was now standing on a stage in front of 70,000 people with Green Day!
Billie walked over to me and hugged me from behind. My breath hitched in my throat as I felt him so close to me. I'd always dreamed of this moment and now it was really happening!
'What's your name Sweetheart?' He asked me. 'A-Abby.' I managed to squeak. 'Well Abby,' Billie sang into the crowd. This next song's for you!' Billie then started to play Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).
When the song ended Billie told me to come backstage. I followed the guys to their dressing room. Mike and Tré introduced themselves to me even though I already know who they were.
We then got into a conversation and I told them a little bit about myself. I told them that I've been a Green Day fan for years and that their music has helped me a lot over the past few years.
After a couple hours of talking, I began to feel my eyes get heavy with tiredness. I yawned widely. Billie noticed and guided me to a comfortable looking sofa in the corner of the room. We sat down and he pulled me into his lap. I rested my head against his chest and listened to his soothing heartbeat.
He suddenly started singing Fell for You in my ear. I couldn't fight the feeling of tiredness anymore. My eyes began to droop and I snuggled closer into Billie's chest. The last thing I heard before I fell asleep in his arms were: good night Abby. I love you.'
