"You don't think she actually did it, do you?" The father of my daughter asked, slightly panicked but concerned more than anything.

We were in a panic because Marian left my house saying she was getting a DNA test.

To find her father.

"I don't know! I'm sorry, I never meant to say that you moved on and had another family. I didn't mean to say all that, I just-"

"Hey, hey, it's going to be okay. The only reason why Mari is in the same year as Sam is because she was held back in second grade."

"You don't think I know that?" Mari and Sam were a year apart, meaning I only found out I was pregnant with Mari long after he moved onto his amazing girlfriend and soon wife.

"You'd never hurt Amanda," I expressed, and Daniel sighed before sitting down on the couch.

"Did you ever tell her?" I asked nervously.

"I didn't even know Mari was mine until four years ago, Kat. How could I tell Amanda that I left you, and didn't even know you were pregnant? Amanda would be so angry with me."

"But you did nothing wrong-"

"She would be angry that I didn't know - that I didn't piece it together," He cut me off, "and that I didn't tell her when I found out."

I tried to despise Amanda, I tried to hate her and find things wrong with her, but she was perfect. She's an amazing mother and when I saw her pregnant belly when I was going to tell Daniel that Mari was his, I couldn't stand to ruin a family.

I'm not that heartless.

And the only reason Mari is in the same grade as everyone, instead of being a year ahead, was because she was held back in second grade.

"When Mari finds out, she's not going to be happy. Do you think she'll hate me?" I questioned. I lied to her about so many things.

The only reason she doesn't remember what her father looks like is because I painted Daniel as her uncle, meaning she's known him but neither of them knew. I made her despise a man who she already knew the face of, but instead created an image of someone who was evil and abandoned us.

And it's my fault.

"However she feels, we'll face it together. I'm her father, and I should have taken responsibility. I know her and Sam aren't exactly best friends, but hopefully they can grow to see eachother as sisters," Daniel expressed.

But he doesn't know the grudges she holds.
