The Next Day

The four of us finally finished decorating the outside of the house, and we all think that it looks amazing.

Now that our house is done, Renjun and I have to leave home once again.

I work at a nice library in town, and I've been decorating it for Halloween as well. Renjun doesn't work with me officially, but he considers himself my assistant sometimes.

Because of this, he agreed to help me finish up the decorating today. And since it's not too far from the house, we decided to walk instead of driving there.

At the Library
5pm

"I think the little decorations that we added are really nice~"

Renjun smiled, admiring our work.

We didn't do much, since the library itself is really pretty already. We just added some cool decorations and props to the bookshelves, as well as the walls.

"Hey Mark. If you already clocked out, I'll walk you guys out"

My coworker Johnny quietly offered, speed walking to us as to not disturb anyone in the library.

"Sure thing. Thanks man~"

"No problem~. How have you guys been holding up since you moved into your new place? I'm sure Jeno and Jaemin are loving it right?"

"We actually adjusted quicker than we expected, and they really love the new place, especially with the new decorations we've added"

"Glad to hear it~. What about Taeyong then? He just got his new job at the convenience store right? How's he liking it?"

"He really loves his job there. He feels right a home at the store, and I think it really suits him"

Renjun smiled, reminiscing about how happy he looked.

"By the way hyung, you've recently been invested in a new book right? How's that going for you?"

Johnny's eyes lit up the moment I inquired him about it.

"I'm so glad you asked~! It's called Under the Sun, and it's another fantasy book~"

He excitedly showed me the books cover, catching Renjun's interest as well.

"Wait. Is this a sequel to that other book you finished not too long ago?? The name sounds exactly like it"

"Right you are~. So far it's taking on the plot following the original's ending, but there's a new twist. I won't spoil it too much, but there's another wolf among the pack~"

"Another one??? I just know that's going to cause trouble to arise"

"I think so too. I haven't gotten that far in it yet, but given what's happened in the first book, I doubt that it's gonna be all sunshine and rainbows"

After Johnny continued to describe his experience with the original book, we eventually make it to the front door.

Johnny then put his book away, and gently pushed us out the door.

"Aaaand stay out~! But seriously, you guys have a good rest of your day and stay safe~"

He playfully smiled before heading back inside to finish his shift.

"He sure is in a playful mood..."

"I'll say. Wait... Hey! It's that cat again!"

Renjun exclaimed, pointing at a cat seated by some plants.

"Hang on a second. I think it's blind in one of its eyes"

I pointed out.

I don't think he was able to notice it before, considering this is the closest we've ever gotten to it.

Renjun slowly approached it, but it quickly got up and dashed away.

"Darn..."

"Don't lose hope just yet. It's running towards the house"

I informed him, grabbing his hand.

We pursued the mysterious feline without chasing it, to avoid scaring it all together. But once we got back to the house, we lost it.

"Slipped right through our fingers... Sorry Jun"

"Hmm..."

"What's wrong??"

"It might sound crazy, but I've been having a certain dream a lot lately about something black hidden in an orange space, kinda like a pumpkin patch..."

Right after explaining his dream to me, he quietly snuck over to the large patch of pumpkin decorations on our porch.

When he peaked inside the patch, he found the black cat behind one of the larger pumpkins!

The cat got excited after it was found, and meowed at him before jumping into his arms.

"It seems like it just wanted to play hide and seek~"

I smiled and pet the cat.

"Heh. You know, this is the second time a peculiar cat has approached me. The first was Jaemin, but that was a while before I told you their secret"

"This can't just be a coincidence right?? You think this cat might be a-"

Before I could finish my question, Jeno suddenly burst through the door with cat Jaemin in his arms, only because it's still light outside.

Luckily, he was wearing one of his hats to hide his ears and he had his tail hidden.

But Jaemin started hissing at the mysterious cat and Jeno's eyes glowed a bright blue to add to his unusually uneasy nature.

"What's gotten into you two??"

"What's gotten you both so spooked??"

We asked them, alarmed by their strange demeanors.

"Get rid of that cat"
