chapter two

"What the actual fuck?!"

"Are you alright? What's going on?" Felix questions. "I hit my head on the bottom of the drawer if you haven't noticed. But, yeah, I'm alright," I answered. He eyed me curiously then shrugs. We both went back to our jobs. We continued serving customers until around lunchtime when our shift ended and our replacements came in. I hooked my apron unto the hook underneath my name then waited for Felix and Melanie outside. Cry was there, waiting for the three of us. Usually, during lunch, all four of us will eat together at some food chain restaurant while we talk about our crazy antics. Felix and Melanie walked out in a single file along with a couple other coworkers. Felix went up to his boyfriend and kissed him on the cheek. Cry put his arm around him. All four of us walk towards Cry's car to go to a nearby Wendy's. "I get dibs on shotgun!" Felix yells. Melanie rolled her eyes, "You always sit out front, you idiot! No need for you to get dibs." The two love birds sat in the front seats while Melanie and I sat in the back seats.

I was pretty silent during the car ride. I still can't believe it. I'm starting to see color. How? It's not like I met a lot of new people today; only Mark and this girl who just moved into the apartment complex across the street. All of the other people I've served today were the usuals so it can either be one of them. Either way, I'm fine with having them as a soulmate. They're lovely people.

Now, I'm having a dilemma. Should I tell my friends or not? I don't like keeping secrets from my friends but it's not like I know who my soulmate is. All I know is that I met them today, but aside from that, I know nothing else. Melanie suddenly spoke up, snapping me out of my thoughts, "Hey Jack, you're really quiet. What's going on with ya?" "It's nothing really," I responded. Felix joined in on our conversation, "If it's really nothing, why don't you tell us all about it?" I sighed. I really should tell them. They would tell me immediately if they were in this situation. We are best friends after all. "I think I met my soul mate today," I state.

Felix yelled, "Are you fucking serious? Jesus Christ! We need to celebrate this." Cry agreed, "We should. You know what, we aren't going to eat at some fast food restaurant today. We're going to eat at that fancy restaurant near my apartment." Felix punched his lover's shoulder, "Cry! We can't afford to eat there!" Cry retaliated, "We need to celebrate this. Besides, I also got 2 million subscribers today. It's technically a double celebration. Oh, and don't worry, I'll pay for it all." Felix was surprised with the news he had just gotten, "Are you serious? I'm so proud of you!" He tried to reach out and pinch his boyfriend's cheeks but Cry leaned away and said, "Not now boo. I'm driving." Felix pouted and leaned back into his seat.

After a few minutes of silence, Me lanie spoke up, "Wait a minute. If we're going to eat at that restaurant, shouldn't we go and change?" I agreed with her, and so did the couple. We decided that we'll go to each other's apartments and wait for each other to change into our fanciest clothes. Because we're very, very fanceh. We drove to my apartment first since it was the furthest one away.

Cry parked in front of my apartment complex. We all got off and went inside. I pressed the elevator button and waited for it to arrive. Once it did, all four of us went in. I pressed the button with my floor number on it. We arrived at my floor and walked towards my room. I took my keys from my pockets and unlocked the door. We all went in and they immediately jumped onto the sofa. Because of this, Felix ended up pushing Cry off it. I rolled my eyes at the childishness of these two and continued walking towards my room to change. After a couple of moments, Melanie followed me, "I had to leave them alone." I asked her why. She pushed the door open a bit and I saw Felix on top of Cry, tickling each other. We giggled at the sight.

Melanie suggested that she should help me out. I chuckled and said that I didn't need any help since I only had one suit. She went into my bathroom while I was changing into it.

She walked back into my room and complimented me, "Damn, you look hot as hell. I could probably be straight for you." I laughed, "You would?" She laughed as well, "Of course not! You know that I only go for girls ya goober."

When we walked out, the two love birds were still in their own world, tickling the shit out of each other, with Felix straddling Cry. Melanie, being the party pooper that she is, dragged Felix off his lover, "Stop tickling each other, I'm hungry!" Cry sat up and said, "Nice suit, Jack." Felix, who only just noticed me, wolf-whistled. Melanie started whining, "I'm hungry, hurry uuuupp," drawing out the last word. As if on cue, my stomach started grumbling. All of us burst out laughing.

|| Time Skip cuz I'm a lazy bastard ||

We arrived at the restaurant after we all got changed. During the entire ride around town, my stomach was grumbling while Melanie keeps on whining. I'm pretty sure Cry and Felix are irritated with the two of us now. I'm also sure that they're about to punch us any minute now.

Anyways, I looked through the window and saw that not a lot of people were here. I guess that's because it's past lunch. Melanie, Cry and I immediately got out while Felix was struggling to place his phone into his tight dress pants' pocket. Cry walked over to his side and opened the door for his lover. The two doofs smiled at each other. Felix got out and inserted his arm into his boyfriend's. Melanie rolled her eyes at the action.

All four of us went in the establishment. The hostess at the door greeted us and asked us if we had a reservation. Cry said his name then the hostess guided us to a table somewhere in the corner. Melanie and I sat next to each other and the other two did the same. The hostess gave us menus then left. Cry told us that he had reserved a table earlier today and that he would pay for everything. A waiter walked up to us later on and asked for our orders. We all ended up ordering the same dish; steak with white asparagus and champagne. That was the only thing that seemed the least fanciest thing for me to eat. Actually, these kind of restaurants aren't my scene but since we're celebrating, I'll let this slide.

While waiting for our food, we all talked to each other rather quietly, instead of our loud chatter, so that we don't disturb the other customers. I feel intimidated whenever I look at these fancy ass people. As we were talking, I noticed that Melanie wasn't speaking that much. Normally, she would be laughing and making jokes but right now she was really quiet. Not only that, she also looks a bit morose. A few moments later, she excused herself from the table and said that she needed air. Then she went out the front door. Of course, being a very good friend, I followed her and left the couple on their own.

I saw her outside, sitting by the pavement, smoking a cigarette. I walked towards her and sat down beside her then asked, "What's wrong?" She faced me and said, "Nothing. I don't know why you're asking me that. I mean, nothing's wrong." I knew she was lying and that something was wrong because she was smoking. I responded, "You're smoking. You never smoke unless something is wrong. So come on, tell me what's wrong. I'm your best friend so come on, tell me." I placed my arm around her shoulders to show her that I'm concerned with her being and that I'm here to comfort her. She smiled before explaining what's wrong.

"It's just because sometimes, I get this feeling that maybe I wasn't destined for somebody. That maybe I was meant to be alone forever. But I knew that since you haven't found your soulmate yet so I thought that we would be alone together. Now," she sighed then continued once more, "well, now, you found your soulmate and I'm gonna be alone forever. I mean, I'm the only one who hasn't found their soulmate in our squad. Someday, all of you will have your own families and whenever we all get together, I'll be this lonely mess with a bunch of happy families." I knew that this was a big deal for her because she ended up bursting into tears. I took her into my arms and hugged her real hard, "Hey, hey, you won't be alone forever. We'll still be here for you. Besides, you'll be stuck with me way longer than my soulmate ever will, and I'll be stuck with you way longer than your soulmate ever will. You won't be alone forever because you'll meet your soulmate, alright?" She asks, "You think so?" I shook my head, "I don't think so; I know so." I heard her giggle. "Come on, those two might think we went missing or something," I joked. She pulled out of our hug, stood up and pulled me upwards. She wiped the tears from her eyes. We walked back inside the restaurant and sat down at our table. Felix immediately asked us what happened. The both of us just shrugged. All of us continued talking about everything and nothing until the waiter came over and served us our meal.

We continued talking with each other while eating our food. A few more moments later, Melanie turned towards me and asked, "Hey, Jack, do you remember when I told you that I wanted to explore the world and maybe try to look for my soulmate?" Since I just ate a bit of steak, I chewed on it and swallowed before answering her question, "Of course, I remember you saying that I should join you on your expedition and do the same thing. I also remember laughing at you." She giggled. It was my turn to ask her, "Why'd you ask?" She sighed then answered, "Well, I've been thinking about it since we talked outside a while ago. I think I should go and tour the entire world, you know? I mean, you found your soulmate. I want to find my soulmate too, if she even does exist." I grinned before nodding. Cry, who was drinking his champagne, ended up choking on it in surprise and started coughing really badly. Felix had his eyes wide open before starting to pat him hard on the back. I think they were surprised by Melanie's statement. Anyways, a few minutes later, Cry stopped coughing. His boyfriend sank back into his seat, tired from his efforts.

Melanie might've realized that Cry was in shock since she then quickly said, "That's if it's fine with you and your family of course. You guys are the boss after all." Cry cleared his voice and said, "Of course, it's alright. You are my friend after all. I was just surprised after all. But I think I'm speaking for everyone when I say that we will miss our pastry chef and only girl friend." We all chuckled while Melanie sat there, seething in rage. She absolutely hated it when we treat her like a girl, ever since she was a child, she was a complete tomboy . But technically, it was true, we had no other friend who was a girl aside from her. We're that anti-social. I teased her, "Hey, hey, you mad bruh?" She giggled and punched my shoulder lightly. A couple of moments later, Cry said, "In all seriousness though, we'll miss you." She continues giggling and says, "D'aww I'll miss you guys too." Felix pouted, "You won't. You'll go ahead and meet all these cool people and then you'd forget about us." Cry and I nodded. Melanie chuckles, "I probably would. But I'd be the lamest out of all of them and you guys know that I don't want that. I like being the coolest and I can easily achieve that with you dorks."

What a great friend. What would I do without her?

I joked, "Jeez, thank you so much. You really are the greatest friend ever. We'll definitely miss you." They all ended up laughing.

We continued eating our meal while chatting and joking around. Cry asked for the bill afterwards and payed for it, leaving $50 as a tip for our server. Then we left. Cry dropped me off at my apartment complex. When I walked in, I removed my suit which left me in my boxers. I took a white shirt from my closet and wore it. Then I jumped onto my bed.

Damn, today was a long day. I met my soulmate and then my best friend decides to start her tour of the world. As I thought about my soulmate (and subconciously wished that it was that handsome guy Mark), I slowly fell asleep.

A really crappy ending, had no idea how to end it. Yesterday was my first day so idk how often I'll be updating, I mean, I don't update that much already, so we'll see.

(I'm not doing the outro thingy now 😂 I'm way too lazy to write it everytime and I'm sure it's getting annoying xD)
