chapter six
The bright sunshine poked through the living room curtain, instantly waking me up. For a minute I was confused because of two things. The first thing is that I awoke on my sofa. I looked across the living room to see that the T.V. was on. I turned towards the back of the sofa and tried to sleep once more. I was expecting to see the gray linen but instead I saw a buff chest in a black shirt and red flannel. In surprise, I jerked backwards and almost fell to the ground but the arms around my waist pulled me back towards his body. My eyes glanced over to Mark's face and saw that he was watching some crap on my television. Damn, he's so handsome. How lucky am I to have a soulmate like him? And the way his hair was messy, fuck. I was able to fit in a couple more minutes of staring at him before he glanced down at me.
He greeted me, "Good morning!" and smiled. I smiled back. Mark sat up and so did I. I rubbed my eye and offered to cook breakfast. He tried to argue and offered to cook as well. I argued back that it was my house and that he was my guest and because of that I should cook. He didn't say anything and pouted. As he continued to watch his show, I walked into my kitchen, I took my apron from the counter top and tied it around my waist. I got some bacon, hotdogs, cheese and eggs from the fridge and started cooking them. I wrapped the bacon around the hot dogs and fried them until the bacon was a crispy, golden brown. I chopped the cheese into little cubes and made cheese omelets. As I was setting the table, Mark walked in with his hair still messy. He inhaled and sat down, "This smells great." The he grinned before poking a bacon-dog and biting it. I untied my apron before throwing it in a random direction and started to eat as well.
As we ate, we both kept on telling jokes and usually I wouldn't mind but his jokes and his laugh was not a good combination. Both of them would make me laugh, which in turn would stop me from eating properly since I would just end up bursting into laughter. About a couple of bacon-dogs in, I gave up eating because it was a lost cause. I just ended up listening and laughing to his jokes as he continued to eat.
Once he finished eating, I immediately stood up and started taking the plates off the table before he could do it as well. I was washing the dishes when Mark took the dish towel from the side of the sink and started drying the ones I finished. He asked me, "Why do you keep doing things when I want to help you?" I chuckled, "You're my guest, you shouldn't be doing any of this." "Then what should I be doing?" Mark asked once more. "Well, you should be on the sofa watching your shows. You should be relaxing, you just came home from a trip after all," I say.
Mark rolls his eyes and says, "I'm your soulmate, we should help each other no matter what and all that. So just let me help you okay?" Then he gives me a heart-warming smile. Christ, help me. "You might be my soulmate but I still don't know a lot of things about you aside from the fact that you're a YouTuber," I retorted. Mark smirks, "And that is why you'll be seeing a whole lot of me around, and why we'll be going on a date tonight."
Mark winks at me and sets the plates that he was drying aside then left the kitchen. He left me standing at the side of the sink with my eyes wide open and three words going through my head: What just happened?

Mark and I were walking when I realized that I started seeing another color. This one was on the leaves on the tree branches and the ones that dotted the pavement. I couldn't help myself stare at it. It was amazing me. Not just the color itself. It was amazing how a couple of weeks ago, I've seen the world in three dull colors, gray, white and black. I had no idea where my soulmate was. I didn't know if they, or he I should say, would ever come into my life and give me the greatest gift, colors. Now here I am, walking through downtown with my hand in my soulmate's and wondering what color had just come into my sight.
Mark must've noticed that I was a little bit distracted because he frowned and asked, "Is something wrong?" This snapped me out of my senses. "Oh, I was just amazed at that color," I told him dreamily, gesturing towards the leaves above us. He looked up, a small smile appeared on his lips. "You see them too?" He asks softly. I nodded. His smile got bigger and I couldn't stop myself from giggling. We noticed that a couple of people behind us were getting a bit annoyed because of the fact that we were blocking the path. So we continued walking.
My small color book was in my back pocket. As much as I wanted to whack it out and check what color it was, I didn't. I didn't want to seem rude towards Mark. Besides, we were going on a date, not an art class.
We continued walking until we reached an unfamiliar part of the city. Mark led me towards an arcade and opened the door for me. I walked in and he followed me inside. I got excited by the sheer amount of games that surrounded us. Once again, he took my hand and led me towards the counter. He got his wallet out and bought tokens. Meanwhile, I was at his side, bouncing on the balls of my feet. He took a glance at me and shakes his head, smiling. The guy at the counter handed Mark our tokens and I immediately dragged him to a shooting game. He put the tokens into the slot and we competed against each other. "I don't think you know this but I'm absolutely competitive when it comes to games like this," I told him, winking and smirking.
We started playing and I quickly dominated Mark. I won most of the acts that we played through. Unfortunately for him and luckily for me, during one of the final acts, Mark lost all of his lives and died. He didn't want to put in another token because we might consume it all on this machine. I pouted, "Now it's no fun." Mark just chuckled and continued watching me. In a couple of minutes. I was able to beat the whole game. I screamed, "ZERO DEATHS!" Mark hugged me from behind and kissed the top of my head, "I'm so proud of you, baby." This gesture of his made me almost drop the play-gun that I was holding. "Come on," he says as he takes my hand and leads me away, "let's go play something else and let other people play this."
Mark takes me to one of the abundant fighting games found around the arcade. This time, Mark was the one who dominated me. Like I said, I was very competitive, because of this, I ended up pouting. He kept on shaking his head whenever he saw my expression. After a couple of games, he took me to the claw machines.
This was where I saw Mark's determination and perseverance. This is also where we, well, it's actually just him, consumed all of our remaining tokens. After a lot of attempts, Mark was able to get one huge stuffed bunny. The fact that it was big wasn't the only reason why it made me so excited. It was in another new color.
I could feel my color book in my back pocket. Once again, I ignored it.
We decided to go back to my apartment because Mark had to get back to his own and record his videos. When we arrived back at my apartment, he gave me the bunny that he got and kissed me on my forehead. "I had an amazing time today," he mumbled, "I really want to stay with you tonight, but unfortunately my subscribers might get worried about me." "C-can we do this again sometime?" I asked. "Of course, sweetheart," he told me as he hugged me tightly and kissed me on my forehead again. He took his suitcase and walked away.
As I closed the door, I wanted to go crazy. Like damn, I feel so giddy. Can I please fast forward to our next date?
