The Mouse Hole (From my other oneshot book (Deleted))
When I was younger, I was afraid of a lot of things. These things would work their way into my nightmares.
There are three dreams that I still remember from my childhood. One of them not interesting enough to talk about. The first one, that I will be talking about today, I will name, "The Mouse Hole".
There were two variations of this nightmare. The first variation was "Outside of the Mouse Hole".
This dream would always start with me being in a bright, comforting, white space. In front of me, there'd be a large mouse hole in the wall. Inside, there was nothing but a pitch black space.
I would stand there, happily. Then, without warning, some otherworldly, invisible force would make me, unwillingly, run into the black hole in the wall. This would force me to continue to run until I was a distance from the hole I walked through to get there and was immersed by the darkness. Then, I would wake up.
The second variation, I'd like to call, "Escape From the Depths".
This one would start me inside the hole. I would be running towards where I came in. The catch was, something was always chasing me.
I say something because, whenever I looked over my shoulder, I never saw it. I remember thinking that it was some kind of gigantic house cat. However, this house cat was never fun to be with and, the only thing I ever saw of it was its gigantic, black paw.
I would run for the hole, never stopping, but thinking I'd dropped something on the way. I would get closer and closer, the hole getting bigger and bigger until, suddenly, a gigantic, black, smoky paw would appear in front of me, immersing me in its darkness, causing me to wake up.
Now, many dreams have meanings, even if some of them are random. I interoperate this dream, or series of dreams as meaning having a fear of the darkness or the unknown.
Whenever I was in that dark mouse hole or pushed into it, I would always be afraid and want out. That speaks for itself. When I was in the hole, running for the exit, the cat chasing me, I would always have a sense of fear. I believe that the invisible cat represents the fear of the unknown as, I would never know it was there until its massive paw appeared.
That was the first nightmare, or couple of nightmares that I remember from my childhood. If this is liked enough, I will do my second dream, "Drowning in Gold". Alright then, SEE YA PEEPS!
