Flitwing, Raindrop, and the Royal Guard

(A/N: This will be a My Little Pony oneshot. I KNOW, I KNOW, I'M SORRY, BUT I HAVE TO GET THIS DOWN BEFORE I FORGET IT! This was an RP piece that I have just experienced and I find it to be very good and very entertaining.)

(The picture below is Flitwing the griffin and below that is Flit again, but with Raindrop, in Roblox; where this RP happened.)

(A/N: A bit of Flit's background before we start, Flitwing was born in a town near Ponyville. Because of her race, ponies tried to avoid her and her family  at all costs. The Griffin's favorite thing to do was fly and, one day, her mother got the female tickets to a flight competition. Seeing Rainbow Dash perform the never-before-seen Sonic Rainboom made inspiration bloom in the young creature and, ever since then, she practiced to make it into the Wonderbolts, following her idol's hoof-steps. Her determination was so pronounced that, years later, she was accepted into Wonderbolt Training, the place where no other griffin had been before.)

(A/N: I had not seen the CMC episode with the griffon in it before I made this OC, therefore, this was an original idea. Please, do not steal this, as this is my character.)

It was a beautifully sunny day in Equestria and a griffin was flying behind her idol; the one, and only Rainbow Dash. Rainbow had decided to fly with the other creature today and, overjoyed, her fan agreed. This die-hard fan was named Flitwing and, as she struggled to keep up with the speedy, blue pegasus, the wonderbolt cadet tried to impress the famous pony with a few tricks of her own; a flip here, a twirl there, a spin over there. So far, the tricks went unnoticed. However, the first ever griffin cadet was not ready to give up yet and kept up the act until, finally, the two found a place to land.

They had, miraculously flown all the way from Ponyville to Canterlot, the trip taking the wind out of Flitwing's lungs and leaving her panting and desperately trying to take in enough air.

"This seems like a nice place to rest," the rainbow-maned pony said, folding her wings in against her sides.

Flit did the same, her tongue lolling out of her mouth like a dog on a hot, Summer's day.

"You-..make it look so-...easy!" The griffin replied, panting heavily.

Before Rainbow Dash could reply however, a very tall, white pony with a flowing pink, green, and blue mane stepped out of her castle. She was decorated with a golden crown, golden horseshoes, and a thick, golden necklace. All of these ornaments were adorned with pink jewels that shone brightly in the sun's light.

This pony was special. Unlike others, she had both a pair of wings and a horn, both larger than any other pony's and, because of these two elements, she was dubbed an alicorn; one of the rulers of the land. However, out of all of them, she was the most powerful. Her duty, raising the sun each morning, required a lot of power, concentration, and technique to pull off. She was the only alicorn capable of such a feat.

"P-Princess Celestia? Oh, sorry your majesty!" Flitwing hurriedly went on one front knee and bowed, respectfully.

"That is okay, dear. I am here to talk to Rainbow Dash, is all."

"Oh. Well, is there anything I can help ya' out with? I mean-," before the griffin could even finish her sentence, a yellow mare adorned with golden armor stomped up to the princess, a young filly being dragged along beside her.

"Princess, this filly has been very disobedient and stubborn. What should I do to her?"

The princess took a glance at the filly and her tone grew uncharacteristically dark, "Throw her into one of the jail cells, Appleseed."

"Huh?" The little filly looked between the guard and the princess, confused and frightened before being herded off back into the castle.

"Come on! Get back!"

Flit's eyes widened as she stood up from her bow.

"W-WAIT, STOP!" The  griffin bellowed after the two before looking at the princess.

"Princess, I mean no disrespect but, the kid's just that, a kid!"

"And she was being disrespectful."

"But, she's just a child! She doesn't know any better! Please! Reconsider!"

Celestia looked at her emotionlessly before turning away to talk with Rainbow Dash; who had just missed the entire conversation.

Flitwing gaped. Did that really just happen? Did one of the most respected and noble princesses in all the land just ignore one of her subjects? It couldn't be possible, it just couldn't be; yet, it was.

Recovering from her shock, the griffin shook her head and ran into the castle, desperate to find the guard and filly. Her talons clacked as they made contact with the floor, each frantic step sending her claws into the hard tile. Her heart burned as the muscle pumped faster and faster in an effort to control and regulate blood flow. She turned a corner and, spotting the guard at the end of the hall, sprinted faster, her trot turning into a full-on canter. The clicking of her talons on the floor gave her position away however, and the guard's head snapped up.

"Who are you? What are you doing back here?"

"I'm here to tell you that what you're doin' is a mistake!"

"I had direct orders from the princess. Leave now, or else you will be in there with her!"

From inside the jail room, a high-pitched voice whined.

"Be quiet!"

"But, this is wrong! A real ruler would never do somethin' like this! Please, think about this!"

The guard sized up the griffin before speaking again.

"You want to be a Wonderbolt?"

"I dunno why that matters, but yeah, I do."

"A Wonderbolt cannot be a Wonderbolt unless the princess agrees that the trainee is loyal enough!" The guard laughed, triumphantly.

Flitwing's eyes widened at this and thought. Suddenly, she began to tear up.

"If the princess monitors and runs the team," she began, pulling off her goggles with one of her talons,"Then I don't want to be related to any part of the Wonderbolts!"

The guard laughed, turning back toward the cell door, her wings flipping triumphantly.

"Stupid Griffins."

"..At least I have more heart than you."

"What was that?" The pony turned, catching the softly spoken words like a baseball to a glove.

"You heard what I said. Nopony in their right mind would ever imprison a filly!"

"Like I said, it was the princess who demanded it to be so!"

"But, no other princess would ever think of doin' this! Not the princess of friendship, not anyone! Think about it! Would cadence imprison a child just for annoying her?"

The guard stood, silently. She contemplated the griffin's words carefully, the sentences circling around her brain like a toy train moving on its track. Suddenly, her look softened. Her wings folded, eyebrows tilted up, sadly, ears turned back, and eyes widened before looking back at Flitwing.

"You're right."

The Pegasus turned her head toward the door, silently and brought out a shiny, silver key from under one of the plates of her armor. She watched it glow in the light of the castle for a few moments, hesitation overwhelming her. Holding it gingerly with her teeth, she brought the key over to the other creature, dropping it in front of her, the small piece of metal clinking as it hit the ground.

"Take her."

"W-What?"

"The filly, take her."

Flitwing's eyes widened, surprised that she could actually get through to the guard. She silently picked up the key with one of her sky blue talons and inspected it before stepping towards the heavy, metal door. Slipping the key into the keyhole, she turned it slowly until she felt and heard the lock snap open. The creature, holding the key with her tail, gripped the handle of the door and turned it, opening the door, just enough to let her head peak through.

There she was. The "prisoner" was white with a blue mane and small, black hooves. The griffin hadn't noticed it before, but the small filly's tail was tear-shaped and stuck up, the bottom being a fluffy, white texture. It was a deer.

"Hey there, kid."

"Huh? Wh-Who are you?"

" 'Name's Flitwing. I'm here to take you outta' this place. Come on," the griffin said, speaking softly to the younger female and stepping away from the door.

The guard was turned away toward the end of the hall, her rump facing the others as she silently pondered. She just wanted to do what was right. In doing so, she ended up partaking in a misdeed.

The filly, now out of the confines of the room, quietly turned to her savior.

"Th-Thank you."

"Don't mention it, now, come on, let's get outta' here."

With that, the two started walking toward the exit of the dungeon.

"Wait!"

Flitwing stopped and turned, an angry look getting plastered on her face once more.

"What?"

"The princess will kill me if she finds out about this!"

the griffin's gaze softened.

"Come on. Nopony deserves that kinda' punishment."

"Thank you," the guard said, happily.

"You know, I think you'd make a great Wonderbolt."
