Dismissed
So, one day, during school, I was dismissed for a doctor's appointment. The problem? I had left my jacket in math class where another class; one full of special ed. kids; were painting. So, since they and the teachers were busy helping the students, I stepped in; as quietly and courteously as I could, may I add; and picked up my coat.
"Hi, (Name)!" One of the special ed. Students greeted. I waved and didn't think much of it. However, as I turned to leave, I heard an older, female voice say,
"Next time, wait 'till the end of class, please."
I turn around, my eyes wide as every student in the room goes silent.
"M-Me?" I asked, taken aback by the sudden command.
"Yes, next time, please wait until the end of class."
"Oh, I was dismissed and-,"
"Doesn't matter, wait until the end of class."
At this point, my temper began to wittle away. I was going to be late and this woman apparently didn't want to hear my "excuse". I internally groaned.
"I'm sorry, but I was dismissed and needed to get my coat," I smiled, matter-of-factly.
After that, she went silent, joining the rest of the class. She most-likely realized what I was saying and just decided not to repeat her statement again. I felt the classes' stares burning into me and, as I looked from one person to another, uncomfortably, I decided that it was time to leave.
Ever met anyone like that? Someone who only wants to hear themselves and doesn't want to listen to others? It's infuriating, really. Because of this situation, I was late to my appointment! Thanks lady~! Anyways, I just needed to write this down to get it off my chest (also so that the world could read it). I hope you enjoyed my short story!
