Tristan
1981
14 years earlier
I had escaped from Malfoy Manor in one piece although I was weak from being hit by multiple spells aimed at my back and chest from oncoming Death Eaters surrounding every entrance of The Manor.
Luckily I had created a protective spell under limited time to protect my crying infant daughter.
Edwina was safe and sound in my arms as I apparated to the one place I knew where me and my new born daughter would be safe.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The one place I knew as my true home for the longest time most of my youth.
It was just like Caithness, Scotland in someway, the place where I grew up.
Slight faintness took me as I opened the door to my mother's chamber located on the first floor of the castle not too far from her office, she arised instanty from her slumber.
"Tristan!" My mother gaped running over to me taking Edwina out of my arms before she watch me could fall onto the hard floor.
Edwina began to cry louder than before as I watched my mother slowly cradle her back to sleep, cowarding on the floor holding onto what little life I had left.
"Tristan? My mother's voice roared quietly trying not to freight Edwina. Her eyes glared below the deep and blooded cuts across my back and chest on the verge drenching my white buttoned down shirt.
"What happened?"
A small sigh escaped from my lips as I gulped, anxious bearing the endless pain inflicted on my body.
"I can't let my daughter be raised at that dreadful place mother" A tear shed below my cheek as I made an attempt to stand up, I felt a lump appear in my throat and whimpered.
"I know that you never approval of my relationship with, Bellatrix" I confessed through my dry, trembling lips trying to stop myself from turning into a blubbering mess.
Mother placed Edwina down in her cot, she kissed on top of her forehead as she started to quite down.
"Don't try to speak anymore, Tristan" My mother begged hurrying her feet towards me, resting her hands above my shoulders for reassurance.
"We need to get you to the hospital wing at once!"
I held my hand above my chest feeling myself unable to breathe, as my body collapsed unintentionally down on my back.
Blood coaxed below my lips, as the sounds of my mother's quiet weeping filled the air.
Her hands gently cupped my head feeling my pulse grow weaker and weaker.
My organs started to fail as I looked up and stared upon my mother's elegant and somber face, coughing up blood.
"It's too late mother" More blood spewed from my mouth. my whole body when into shock before I spilled my last words.
"Take care of, Edwina for me mother" Mother's tears fell above my cheek as she watched her only son die in the warmth of her arms.
Minerva
A month later
Gentle raindrops fall against the umbrella where I and Edwina were underneath. A cold chill flew throughout the air.
The sky was grey, making the atmosphere ever so gloomy falling at this current time.
Edwina's head laid on my shoulder as my eyes were fixed upon her father's gravestone, shedding a few tears staining below my cheeks, after I've placed flowers on his grave.
Although his funeral was held at Hogwarts, one of Tristan's wishes before he died was that he would want to be buried in Caithness, Scotland above the highlands.
His one and only home.
Our home.
And it will be Edwina's home too.
"Take care of, Edwina for me mother"
I exhaled a deep breath, cradling my granddaughter in my arms and sobbed an earth-shattering sob.
In that moment it had hit me that my only child was dead and he was never coming back.
But his legacy will live on through his daughter and I had to take care of her and be the best parental guardian I can be for her.
I will forsee that she will have nothing to do with her mother or her alliance with the dark lord.
Because it's what like her father would've have wanted.
"I will, Tristan. I promise!"
Edwina lifted her head up and smiled. I retorted it then apparated back to Hogwarts before any Muggles could see us.
