Roxie was quiet as they drove to Weeping Willow. She'd found her phone in the seat of Walker's Jeep and called the coven who showed up at her house right away.
"You should go," Valentina said to Walker, "You don't belong here."
Roxie didn't argue as the women took her into the bathroom to clean up. She took one look at Walker who was going to protest.
"Now you hear me, Wells!" Norman bellowed, "Stay the hell away from her."
"It wasn't me! It was Victor."
"It wouldn't have happened if it weren't for you!" Gretel said, turning back to her knitting, "Your coven owns the fucking town, but this has to stop."
"I..." Walker began and stopped himself, "You're right.. It has to stop."
He turned to look at the hallway again where Roxie had disappeared and waited a beat to see if she'd come back.
"Go," Vincent pointed to the door.
Walker didn't make waves. It wasn't his turf or his coven so he knew he had to leave, for Roxie's sake.
Heading back out to his Jeep, he called on a few of his trusted allies—and unfortunately that didn't consist of Eric, Holden, or Oliver.
"Gordon? I need you and the boys to come back from Silverton now."
Roxie soaked in the tub for a bit while Valentina looked after her.
"I've tried calling your mother, but she isn't answering. Can you mindlink her yet?"
"No," Roxie shook her head, "I've tried. It could be my injury."
"There's a Jesse here to see you, Rox," Gina said, "Should I tell him to leave?"
Roxie frowned. She didn't want to see anyone, but if he had come to check on her, maybe they could regain a friendship.
"I'll be in my room," Roxie said when cleric Dion had finished healing her wounds, "You can send Jesse in, please."
She crawled on to the bed—her body wrapped in a big, fluffy robe. She'd put on plaid pajamas and slippers because she certainly didn't want to give Jesse the wrong impression.
A knock came at the door and Roxie called for him to enter.
When he did, nothing roused in her like it used to when he'd be next to her. She felt so excitement or bliss or heat in her middle. There was no knot in her stomach or butterflies—it was just normal.
"Roxie, are you OK?" Jesse pulled up her desk chair and settled beside the bed, "You can't trust Jupiter."
"Jesse, please, I'd rather not discuss their den."
"Why did you go with him? Where the fuck was Walker?"
Roxie shook her head, "I went on my own accord, Jesse. Please don't pin this on Walker—he came for me."
"Did he?"
"Yes, and then my coven kicked me out."
"He got you into this mess, Roxie."
"I am not a child! I am capable of making my own choices. Why do you think you're any better? Maybe none of this would have happened if the two of us had stayed together. Maybe if you hadn't have slept with my best friend!"
"She's nothing to me, Roxie.."
"What? Did your dick just accidentally fall into her?"
"No," Jesse sighed and shook his head, "I was drunk and foolish. I thought you didn't want me."
"But I did want you. I loved you, Jesse."
"And I still love you," Jesse said, "I broke up with you because I thought it was the right thing to do. I thought you didn't love me and I didn't want to be in a relationship where I felt that way."
"How did I make you feel unloved?" Roxie smirked, "This is all about sex, isn't it? You thought I didn't love you because I wasn't doing it with you constantly?"
"I thought that's what we were about."
"Sex?"
"Yeah, and when it stopped...I was left empty."
"It never stopped, Jesse. I got comfortable with you and wanted to have something meaningful—not just sexual."
"I want that now, Rox.." he said, taking her hand, "Give me another chance."
"I can't."
"Is it because of him?" Jesse snarled, "IS IT?"
"I don't want to be involved with someone I will fall in love with," Roxie said, "Have you received your invite?"
Jesse looked down at their connected hands.
"No..I haven't."
"See? What if we're not meant to be? I have a mate out there and I just can't be hurt again."
"But you're taking the risk with Walker."
"I don't love him."
"You still love me?"
Roxie smiled, "No, Jesse...I—I don't have those feelings for you any longer."
Jesse breathed in deeply. He did love her—he wanted to make it all up to her, but it looked like that wasn't ever going to happen.
"Friends?"
"I don't know, Jesse. I need to talk to Felicity. You're still pinning this on me and that's not fair. You never spoke to me about sex—you just went off and slept with her."
"And I am so sorry. I have never had feelings for her and guilt consumed me after."
"Let's just take it slow, OK? We'll get there," Roxie smiled, but she didn't want him there.
She wanted Walker.
"I hate this sack of shit," Walker growled as Gordon and other vamp rogues gathered around him in the parking lot of an abandoned warehouse, "He took what is mine—he took what is mine and he will pay."
Gordon smiled, "I will claw his eyes out and feed them to him."
"What about her coven?" Niles offered, "Any word?"
"Their leader is out of town so Norman has taken over. They're calling a meeting between Victor and my coven later tonight."
"And what would be the charges?"
"Assault, battery, possible kidnapping."
Gordon placed a hand on Walker's shoulder.
"You don't look good. Anything else we can do?"
"Find him. He's gotta be around somewhere," Walker took the flask out—having refilled it earlier—and downed a few drops, "I want him."
"She means that much to you?" Niles asked, his gaze turning to curiosity.
"No, she doesn't mean a damn thing to me, but I don't like rapists."
"Word has it the two of you have been spending a lot of time together?" Gordon said.
"Word travels fast," Walker mumbled, "Yeah, we have. I like her pussy."
Niles chuckled, "Is that right? Word has it you've become a little possessive..."
"No more fucking talking," Walker seethed, "Find him. Bring him to the cabin. Hold him there until I get there. Make yourselves at home."
"And don't touch that wedding dress!"
The rogues took off—faster than lightening to find Victor and bring him to Walker who was going to give him a taste of his own medicine.
Roxie said her goodbyes to coven who had finally reached Suri, but she was unable to get out of work.
"We'll be back, darling," Valentina promised, "No one messes with our kind."
Norman smiled, "I promise to bring back more clerics, my dear. This is a tragedy and no one should go through it."
With Jesse and the coven gone, Roxie was left with her thoughts. She didn't ever want people to see her cry—that would have given them too much satisfaction.
"What is so wrong with me?" Roxie asked out loud to nothing, her choked cries floating through the room.
"Nothing's wrong with you, mouse," Walker stood in her doorway, watching her hide underneath the blanket.
"What are you doing here?! You shouldn't be here..." Her voice was muffled and she was still buried when Walker sat down in the chair Jesse had been in.
He frowned when he could smell him in the room, but he didn't say anything.
"Are you OK?"
"No... yes...I don't know.." Roxie sighed, peeking out from other the covers, "Thank you for coming for me, Walker. How did you know where I was?"
"I heard you."
"You did, but we haven't linked minds..did we?"
"Apparently, we did."
"I'm sorry I threw the donuts at you."
"I shouldn't have told you to walk home. I'm sure I've put you through hell. Victor would have never gotten a chance to lay his hands on you if I'd been in my right mind."
"What about Friday? He would have tried it."
"You think I was going to let you go by yourself on Friday? No way. I was going to tag along in the shadows so you couldn't see me."
Roxie smiled, "My coven really doesn't like you."
"They have a right to be alarmed at what happened."
"Victor said you were going to pass me around and that my mother was a whore," Roxie frowned, "Would you have done that? Are you planning on it? I thought you were going to be on my team until graduation? And what did he mean by calling my mom that?"
"I don't know what Victor is talking about either way, but I will tell you that you're mine to torment and no one else's," he smiled, "We discussed this."
"So, you really don't want me going out with other guys?"
"I'd rather you not."
"Sounds like jealousy."
Walker narrowed his eyes. Of course, it was jealousy, but he didn't know why. What did he care if the mouse went off with other men? He tested it, though.
"I'm thinking of going out with a couple of friends this weekend," Walker said, watching her gaze, "Road trip to Gideon."
"Who's going?"
"Me, Connie, Chet, Chad, Leah, and Crystal."
Now it was her turn to narrow her eyes.
"How fitting. Three couples. Crystal and Chad, Leah and Chet..." Roxie shook her head, "You and Connie.."
"Jealous?"
"No."
"Any way, I want it to be you—not her."
"Me?"
"Yeah, you," Walker chuckled, "And I'm taking you out Friday. You still deserve that date to the drive-in."
They heard Suri's car outside and Walker slipped underneath the covers with her.
"Walker, holy shit!"
He wrapped an armaround her middle, her scent completely intoxicating him.
"Roxie?!" Suri rushed to her room and hugged her daughter, "I tried to get home as fast as I could. Norman let me in on everything. Have they found Victor?"
"I don't know," Roxie said, feeling Walker's hand on her bare pussy. She didn't even realize he'd slipped a hand inside of her bottoms and panties, "I—uh..Walker saved me."
He inserted a finger and then two while Roxie bit her bottom lip trying to stifle a moan as she focused on her mother who sniffed the air.
"I smell so many vamps in here," Suri smiled, "Our coven is really so sweet.."
"Jesse stopped by...we talked, but I still need time."
Suri nodded, "Honey, of course you do. I wish nothing but for a pack of bobcats to eat Victor alive if we're being honest."
Walker stifled a laugh and Roxie placed a hand underneath the blankets to stroke his cheek.
"Well, I am so sorry this happened. I don't even have any words," Suri sobbed, "I...we'll leave this place some day, Roxie. Maybe your mate will be from another region. I just can't believe my little girl is being treated like this."
Walker's fingers plunged faster into her core as Suri talked of dinner and making Roxie's favorite dish.
"I know you have to go paint today," Suri said, "Are you still up for it?"
"Ahh, y-yes.." Roxie moaned, giggling at the reaction her mother had when she looked at her, "I'd like to rest right now...M-mom..."
"OK, baby..." she kissed her daughter on the forehead and smiled, "I will still make that lasagna for when you come home."
"Th-thanks..." Roxie sank her head into the pillow further as her mom left the room, "Oh..shit..Walker..."
Walker's mischievous chuckle turned her on even more as her orgasm came barreling forward.
"Yes..." she cried, her face buried in Walker's chest when he appeared from underneath the blankets, "I-I can't believe you just did that..."
Walker licked her juices from his fingers, his eyes silver—not gold this time.
Their gazes met and she whimpered as he pulled her closer to him.
"I did it because for the next few months you are mine, little mouse," he said.
"Just...mine.."
