Nightmares

"Storm's coming in fast," Walker said, "You're not afraid of them, are you?"

Roxie was wrapped up in the robe he'd given her and decided it was best to just tell him the truth.

"I like them, but I don't like being in the dark."

"Huh?"

"Like if the lights go out."

"You're afraid of the dark?"

Roxie lowered her gaze.

"A vampire who's afraid of the dark?"

"Don't make fun of me."

"I'm not."

"That's a first."

"Don't get used to it, mouse," Walker teased as he crawled into the bed, leaving the little lamp on, "Come on in."

Roxie crawled into bed with him as they snuggled underneath the covers.

"I want to find out who ruined my dress," Roxie said.

"I do, too," Walker told her, "I can't tell you who would do that, to be honest."

"Maybe..maybe it was Felicity."

"I don't think so. As much as I don't care for her right now, I think she was being genuine."

Thunder rolled in the distance as Roxie inched a bit closer to Walker.

"This is so weird," she said, "I never thought I'd be sharing a bed with you."

"Sharing a bed? We just fucked and you're thinking about the bed?" Walker laughed, "You're mate is going to be either very confused, amused, or you'll make him very happy with your simplicity."

"What if he hurts me?"

Walker frowned, "Mates are not supposed to ever hurt each other."

"I don't get that lucky, Walker," she yawned, her eyes closing as the rain started to come down.

"Go to sleep, mouse," Walker whispered as he pulled her closer.

"What are you doing?"

"Keeping you safe from the dark."

"You sure you won't toss me out into the rain...?" Her voice trailed off as Roxie placed her head on Walker's chest and he could hear her breath deepen before he too closed his eyes and slumbered.

"WALKER! WALKER! HELP!"

"Roxie! Where are you? I can't find you! You have to share your scent with me, mouse!"

"I—I can't...."

"Roxie!!! No!!!!"

Walker awoke with a start—the light was off and Roxie was still asleep in his arms, the thunder and lightening growling outside.

He glanced over the room and then drifted back into sleep.

"ROXIE! DON'T LEAVE ME!"

"I have to go. I can't be here."

"WHY?! WHY DID YOU DO THIS?!"

"We're not meant to be...I can't be here...I can't be here...I can't be here..."

Roxie's eyes flew open as the darkness encompassed her. She was still in Walker's arms—who seemed to be sleeping peacefully. Her heart was racing so fast, but now she couldn't recall the dream she had.

"Are you alright?" She heard Walker mumble.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"I think the lights went out, but if you get cold, I can light a fire."

"OK...thank you."

He pulled her closer and she didn't resist.

Sleeping with Walker Wells had never been something that Roxie anticipated—she never thought he'd want to be with her like that, but he felt so good—too good actually.

She felt herself slipping back into a peaceful sleep until she heard him scream.

"Roxie!"

Hiss!

"Put those fangs away, mouse!" Walker hovered over her, holding her wrists over her head, "What's wrong? You were screaming in your sleep. Are you OK?"

Roxie, her sharp fangs protruding from her gums, her eyes a darker amethyst than before, panted heavily as he tried to calm her down.

"You're kinda hot when you've turned," Walker smirked, kissing her forehead as she hissed again and then blinked, her eyes glimmering green and her fangs retracting, "What happened? What were you dreaming about?"

Roxie sighed and shook her head, thunder rumbling in the distance.

"Storm is passing," he said, looking at the closed window, but still looming over her.

"What is poking me?"

"My cock."

"Oh," Roxie smiled, "Well, I don't remember the dream. I'm sorry if I woke you up."

"I wasn't asleep. I was watching you."

"That makes me feel a whole lot safer."

"It should. I will admit I thought I heard,-"

A howl echoed through the forest outside.

"Stay here," Walker growled as he pushed off of her and dressed, looking out the window before slipping his shoes on, "I'll be back."

"No, where are you going? You can't go out there!" Roxie pleaded, "Walker!"

"I'll be fine," Walker said, slipping into his jacket, "Rain's stopped."

Roxie tossed the covers to the side, her pretty pink pussy and creamy globes coming into view just as Walker had gotten rid of his hard-on.

"I'm not talking about the rain! It's only you and a pack of them!"

"Don't worry about me, mouse," he cupped her cheek and smiled, "You have such a nice ass."

"Walker..."

"I'll be back," he said, "Don't follow me."

She scurried to the window as he rushed from the cabin, a flashlight in his hand. He could see for miles because of the type of creature he was, but Roxie knew he was trying to throw them off. When he disappeared into the woods, she could still see his light, but then everything went dark.

"Shit..." Roxie gulped, getting her clothes on and grabbing her phone.

R: Where are you?

W:...

R: I can't see the light any longer.

W:...

Another howl...then another...then a chorus..then a scream.

"Walker!" Roxie rushed from the house, making her way into the woods—the dark woods wher she didn't want to be.

But Walker was out there and he might have been hurt—or worse.

"Walker..." Roxie whispered as if he could hear her, "Where are you?"

There wasn't a sound coming from the woods anymore. She could hear the trickling of the river, the thunder way off in the distance now, but not one peep from her...lover.

Her lover. What had she gotten herself into?

"Walker?" Roxie said.

"Well, what have we here?"

Roxie gasped turning around just as Evans came up behind her.

"Looking for someone, pretty lady?"

"I...my friend."

Corey came up behind Evans and chuckled, "You ain't got no friends around here. I don't see anybody else except us..."

Other young men from the Rager's circled her, their disgust quite evident.

"You're not supposed to be here. This is Myrtle territory," Roxie croaked.

"Is it? Or did you happen to go passed the line, little girl?"

"I didn't pass the line."

"Did your friend?"One of the Ragers asked, "Come to think of it, I did hear a scream."

"A deep, manly scream..." Evans laughed, pulling something from his pocket, "He must have dropped this..."

It was fabric from her torn dress.

"Where is he?!"

"Left you behind it looks like."

"Liar!" Roxie charged at Evans who wasn't quick enough for the young vampiress. She knocked him down in one swift push, her fangs glaring—eyes turned, "Where is he?!"

Corey tried to pry her off, but she was able to pull him over Evans and onto his back.

"Shit...she's stronger than she looks!" Corey ached from a few feet away, "Get Metgar."

"You're still on neutral land, Roxie Reynolds. We told your dad not to come our way, too, and looked what happened to him."

"Roxie!"

"Walker!"

She pushed off of Evans and ran in the direction of Walker's voice.

"Roxie.."

"Walker! Where are you?!"

"I'm here..."

She rushed to his side, the blood from his woods cascading down his chest where the pack at clawed him.

"Man, this fucking hurts..." Walker panted, "Get me back to the cabin where I can,-"

Roxie took her fingernail and sliced open her wrist.

"Don't fucking do this, mouse. You'll be sick for days and I,-"

She placed her dripping wrist over his mouth so he could drink from her healing nectar. Vampires had the ability to heal with their blood, but only for so long and only for so many injuries. Roxie would be out of commission for weeks if she "healed" Walker.

He was sucking her dry until realizing Roxie had passed out.

"Shit..." Walker looked down at his closed wounds and tattered shirt, peering off into the distance as the Rager's looked on, "Let's get you back to the cabin, mouse."

Her head resting on his chest as he carried her back, Walker scolded her.

"Mouse, stop coming after me. Stop trying to save me," he looked down at her pale face. Why did they both take chances with each other?

"Mouse....what are you doing to me?"
