Roxie made her lunch the next morning, even though she felt very sick to her stomach. She'd call the clerics in later if need be.
"Do you need a ride today, Mom?"
Suri rushed around the kitchen, placing her phone and wallet in her purse.
"Gina is taking me, but I should have the new car soon. Are you going to be out tonight?"
"I have no jobs lined up, but I have to stay to get started on my dress again," Roxie said, rubbing her stomach, "I will be home around 8."
"No painting?"
"They don't want me there every day," Roxie told her, "Just Tuesdays and Thursdays for now."
"Well, I will let you know about the car!"
They heard a horn blow outside and the two said their goodbyes as Roxie placed two containers of her mom's lasagna in her lunch pail.
One for her, one for Walker.
When she arrived at school, the rain was still pouring, but Roxie managed to slip inside without getting too wet. She thought she'd have a lot of people glaring at her or whispering snide remarks, but no one seemed to take any notice of her.
But something else was off.
Walker wasn't there and he was always there early.
She made her way to her locker and inside was a note. Excitement built until she realized it was a half-hearted apology from Victor. Considering that it was typed, she knew it didn't come from him at all.
"Whatever..." she mumbled, shutting off her scent.
"Hey..." Felicity stood next to her now, her brows drawn together, "Can we talk?"
Roxie swallowed hard. She really didn't want to talk to anyone except for her mother and Walker—and the fact that she wanted to talk to her rival made her scared.
"Sure," she shrugged, "But I need to get to my creative writing class so if you wanna walk?"
"Of course," Felicity smiled, "Roxie, I am so sorry about what happened to you. I tried to call you and your mother—your mom told me to leave you alone."
"Did she?" Roxie frowned, "I am shocked that she did that."
Suri always played a neutral role in her daughter's life—maybe she was truly tired of Roxie being walked on.
"I was, too, but I deserve it," Felicity said, "I want your forgiveness and I want to tell you that the Stargazer's are with you all the way."
"Yes, I received a phone call from Parker," Roxie said, "He told me that you had my back, but I don't buy it. I think you all have Walker's back, but if I'm wrong I appreciate it."
"You can believe what you want, but I need you back in my life," Felicity pleaded, "I get it's only been a week or so, but I feel awful for what I did with Jesse."
"Jesse...yes...don't tell Roxie, please..."
"I-I won't..."
The visual left Roxie just as quickly as it had come through. She frowned at Felicity.
"Are you sure you're not still sleeping with him?"
"W-what? No, of course not. It was one time!"
"Really?" Walker's voice echoed behind them, "Once?"
Felicity froze as Roxie turned around and smiled.
"You sure 'bout that?" Walker asked, "I'm not so sure about that, Felicity. I am almost certain you have been sleeping with Jesse for over six months now.."
Roxie rolled her eyes, "Got a video?"
"What if I do?" Walker asked, winking at her.
"I—uh..."Felicity lowered her gaze, "I'm sorry.." she turned and walked away as Roxie and Walker watched her round the corner.
"You were bluffing," Roxie whispered, "Weren't you?"
"She didn't know that."
"So it's true?"
"Yes..." Walker said, "Jesse does love you, but he likes to fuck. Felicity does love you, but she likes Jesse's cock."
Roxie shook her head, "I gotta get to class."
"Me, too!" Walker smiled, following her, "Just so happens I also have a creative writing class with Mrs. Glaze."
"Walker, you don't.." Roxie stopped him, "You don't have a class with me except for biology."
"Well, now I have all of my classes with you."
"Why?"
"OK, the truth is my dad had me take summer courses to get me out early, but I didn't want to leave yet—I got my invite and Dad really doesn't want me around the work site so I decided to stay in school to do a few courses that I didn't take. I changed my entire schedule this morning."
"Again, why?"
"Sorry if I don't want another Victor happening to you."
"Honestly, Walker, when did you start caring about me so much?′
Walker leaned in and grazed her ear with his lips.
"When I got a taste of you..."
"Daddy, why is Mommy fat?"
Walker chuckled, "Mommy's not fat. She's having a baby."
"Another one? Will you still love me when the baby comes?"
"I will love you til my last breath."
"Walker?" Roxie placed a hand on his arm, "You OK? I mean, your smile was there, but you off somewhere else."
"It's nothing. I didn't get much sleep so maybe it's delirium," Walker brushed it off and wrapped an arm around Roxie's shoulders, "Let's go, mouse."
"Class, your assignment is to write a poem," Mrs.Glaze smiled, "About undying and unconditional love."
Walker made a gagging sound.
"Shhh," Roxie put a finger up to his lips, "Behave."
He kissed her finger, holding it to his lips for a beat.
"Mr.Wells?"
"Mrs. Glaze?"
"Do we have a problem?"
"Not a problem at all."
"Roxie, is he bothering you?"
"He's always bothering me," Roxie teased as the bell rang.
"Daddy loves you, Mommy. He said that he would love til his last breath and uncomfortably."
Roxie laughed, rubbing her belly, "Uncomfortably or unconditionally?"
"I don't remember! He says big words that I don't know..."
"Does he?" Roxie giggled, "He loves you, too, darling."
"Did you love him when you first met?"
"You're too little for this story."
"No, I'm not! I'm big now! I'll be five soon! I'm practically an adult."
Roxie laughed, "You are far from being an adult, little one."
"Tell me...you said one day you'd tell me all about it. Did you love Daddy?"
"Well, no...I didn't like your daddy at all."
"Roxie? Earth to mouse..." Walker waved a hand in front of Roxie's face as they stood in the doorway, blocking other people from leaving the room.
"Oh, I am so sorry!" Walker pulled her into his arms and smiled.
"Now, where did you go?"
Roxie looked around and shrugged.
"I don't know, but I think I'm getting visions of my future...My mate must be close!"
