Awakening

Suri and Brett moved in together within the week.

Roxie was still getting used to her guidance counselor potentially becoming her stepfather, but Brett was a good man.

"What about this color?" Roxie said as she placed one of the color cards against the white wall, "It's not too pink."

Walker rolled his eyes, "You and pink with this kid. Why not green?"

"You hated all of the greens I picked out," Roxie said, not looking back at him.

Walker perused the color palette and pulled a sunflower yellow out of the packet.

"You and yellow.." Roxie sighed, placing her cards on the table and walking out of what would be Annabelle's nursery.

Walker stared at the wall before going after her.

"Roxie, come on. You've been like this for days... " He watched her get some juice from the fridge, eyeing her carefully as she went through the motions,"Is it your mom and Brett? The baby?"

"I don't know. Maybe everything." She leaned on the counter and drank, avoiding eye contact with him, "I'm just trying to get through this awakening."

Walker leaned against the door frame and crossed his arms. He understood where she was coming from. His changes were hard, too. Sometimes they'd fight for no reason only to make up later like nothing happened. Nights were spent crying or being ridiculously euphoric due to hormonal changes and their powers were streaming through their veins at a rapid pace.

But Roxie was pregnant and Walker knew it was taking a toll on his wife.

"I'm not backing down, if that's what you're thinking."

Walker sighed, "I'm not even thinking about it. "

Roxie rolled her eyes,"You're always thinking about it. Don't think I don't know what you've told Evans. "

Walker tilted his head and smiled,"What's Jenny told you?"

Roxie frowned,"Nothing. Nevermind. "

Walker strolled over to his mate and gathered her in his arms.

"In a month, we will fight. Tonight's the prom. I'm worried, yes. I'm so very worried about you and Annabelle, but I know you have to do this. I know none of this is easy, but you've always been the calm, voice of reason so what's changed?"

Roxie melted into him. She was scared of losing him, losing everyone they loved. Walker had even gotten quite close to Jenny and that was exactly how it should have been.

"I.. just love you, Walker, and our training is basically done, our awakening should be over by the time the ball comes, but I can't lose you. I don't know what I'd do."

Walker nodded,"I know I'm a reckless jerk sometimes, but this is a real battle I don't intend for us to lose. I know you're worried, I'm worried... We'll be fine. "

"Can't we just talk to them? Reason with them?"

"Jadis and her crew have tried that and they were almost eradicated. The elders and my dad and Maddy are psychos. They'll lie and wait until striking without us seeing them coming."

"Why do you have to wear these grey sweats around me all of the time?" Roxie giggled,"I'm about ready to tear all of these clothes off of both of us and have my way with you."

Walker chuckled,"Well, that was a quick change in mood. "

He felt her fingers tiptoe their way into his sweats, pushing her hand down and cupping his hard cock.

"Do you always go commando?" She asked, her body still leaning up against his.

Walker's breath hitched as she squeezed his member, ready to ravish his mate there on the kitchen floor.

"Only when I'm around you... "

"I don't think we have time... " Roxie whispered as if someone could hear them.

Walker slipped out of his sweats and shucked Roxie's leggings down around her ankles before moving her legs apart gently, impaling her pussy in one swift thrust.

On her tiptoes, Roxie moaned, clinging onto Walker as he eased in and out of her slick at a pleasurable pace.

There were no words to be said, nothing to do but give in to the desires they had for each other. This was real and everyone knew it. Walker only ever wanted his little mouse, his timid little mouse who braved him over anyone he'd come across.

"You were made for me... " Walker hummed as Roxie's orgasm rolled through her, a little whimper escaping the young beauty as Walker filled her with his seed.

"See?" Walker snickered as he slipped out, still holding on to Roxie as they made their way to the shower, "We're not gonna be late."

"You're insatiable... "Roxie teased.

"Hey, you started it... "

The two had decided on a green theme with Roxie actually being able to make her prom dress that she so desperately yearned to do.

"A plus infinity!" Walker smiled as Roxie did a twirl for him in their living room,"You look ravishing, Mrs.Wells. "

"You're quite the catch tonight, Mr. Wells.. " Roxie blushed as she straightened Walker's green, satin tie, pinning a daffodil flower pendant to his tux jacket pocket.

"You didn't think I forgot, did you?" Walker presented her with a daffodil corsage that Roxie was actually not expecting. Nothing seemed to be going as planned in their lives, but are was completely taken by all of the things Walker did for her.

"It's beautiful," Roxie smiled as Walker placed the corsage around her wrist.

A knock came at the door, but there was no shock there. Brett and Suri were taking them to the prom–which was only at the village gymnasium, but first they wanted to stop by to take some pictures.

Since the two were chaperoning, Brett and Suri dressed slightly casually, but still classy. They made a perfect pair.

"Oh, I was so hoping you'd get to do this!" Suri said as she wiped a tear from her eye, "You both look wonderful!"

Brett and Walker talked briefly about the ball, but didn't want to linger too long on anything potentially negative.

"Tonight's a night for celebration," Brett said, "You're a good man, Walker. I'm glad to see you happy."

"Was I not happy before?" Walker joked.

Brett sighed,"You only pretended to be. She's made your life matter even though it mattered before yet Roxie's made you see that. "

"I'm scared, Brett."

"You? Never... "

Walker smirked,"I want to be a good husband and father to them, but what if I... "

Roxie turned around and grabbed her husband by the hands,"You are not your father, Walker. You will never be like him. "

Suri smiled,"Shea right. Your father is a mongrel and you're my daughter's true love. That cannot be broken nor will you ever break her, Walker. The bond you share is beyond anything I've seen. "

They entered the gymnasium, a nautical theme was set up all around them.

"It's enchanting!" Roxie said, mesmerized.

"Not as enchanting as you.. " Walker quipped, taking her by the hand and leading her to the dance floor.

It seemed as if the whole village had shown up, but it didn't matter to Roxie and Walker. They were in their own little world, taken in by each other's presence.

"I feel her dancing with us," Roxie said as Walker spun her around, "Annabelle might have some smooth moves."

"Like her daddy!" Walker teased.

"Do you want to feel her?"

"I don't know if you're that far along for me .."

Roxie placed Walker's hand on her little pooch and waited for Annabelle to flutter again. She kept her gaze on Walker's as the first wave rolled by.

"Oh my god... " Walker's eyes lit up, "Is that her?"

Roxie smiled, "That's her. That's our daughter."

Walker knelt down in front of Roxie and leaned his face into her little bump.

"Annabelle... "

"What are you saying?" Roxie laughed, "Always telling secrets."

Walker lowered his voice even more as he leaned in once again.

"Baby girl, I need you to know you've changed me, you and your mommy. I want to be a better man because of you both. I need you to keep Mommy safe no matter what happens to me..."

A flutter rolled by again, caressing his cheek.

Walker choked, a tear threatening to roll down his face.

"I hope that what I've seen in my visions doesn't come true, Annabelle, but if it does, just know how hard we fought for you... never forget how much I love you and I'll see you again some day... "
