51-100
51-100 (because people requested a part 2!)
Sorry if some of the words here are also in the last one. I don't think so, but whatever. Also, I may end up having a couple multiple-sentence prompts. Such a rebel ;)
This fanfiction is purely fan-made. I do not own the characters, Hiro Mashima does. However, I do own the plot idea. Enjoy "50 More," featuring, well... 50 more....
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
#51 - Bottle:
Why did every game of Spin the Bottle ever end up with a kiss that totally changed the mindset of two people; no, the better question is, why did it have to be Gray and him?
#52 - Apples:
Natsu was like a rotten apple; on the outside, he was perfect and polished, but on the inside, he was not good enough for anyone, and just waiting to be replaced by one that was better (until his worm came along, and didn't mind a little rot).
#53 - Beginning:
Blue orbs widened as he took in the newest addition to the guild- a pink-haired boy with a cheerful expression (with an underlying hint of sadness), the slightest tint of pink on tanned cheeks, band-aids on elbows and knees, and a dragon scale muffler (weird, it was July).
#54 - Bugs:
"GRAY! BUG! Kill it kill it kill it kill it kill it!" Was the frantic cry of Natsu as he latched himself protectively behind Gray's back.
#55 - Coffee:
It's too early for Gray and Natsu to be picking a fight, Cana thought drowsily as she wondered just how much caffeine they've had.
#56 - Dark:
Gray didn't know where he was- all he could see was a vast blackness, all he could feel was the suffocating bind of ropes on his wrists and ankles, and he immediately panicked, because Natsu wasn't with him (and oh, God, please let him be okay).
#57 - Despair:
"For private reasons, Gray has left the guild," Were the words that haunted Natsu a year later, the words that caused the never-ending tears to fall at night when he was alone, the words that numbed his heart and made him shut the world out.
#58 - Doors:
The forceful slam of the door was a clear sign of his anger, although it was short-lived.
#59 - Drink:
"Natsu, you've had way too much alcohol." Gray chuckled at the flushed, half-conscious mess that tumbled into his arms.
#60 - Hide:
Nobody sees, nobody knows, they are a secret, can't be exposed, that's how it is, that's how it goes, far from the others, close to each other...
#61 - Earth:
Natsu Dragneel became his world the moment he took his hands firmly in his own and demanded they'd be best friends forever.
#62 - Surface:
A simple touch to the lips only scratched the surface on how Natsu showed how he felt about Gray.
#63 - Fall:
Natsu was falling so hard for Gray, the sensation rivaled one of jumping off a cliff. Blindfolded. With no parachute.
#64 - Fire:
Natsu's touches were burning hot- but that was just because he's a fire Dragon Slayer.
#65 - Blame
The only one to blame for Gray's sudden mood change was Natsu (but no one was complaining, because he had lifted Gray's spirits considerably, and no one had seen him happier).
#66 - Flying:
Gray quickly realized that it was unreasonable to expect Natsu to kiss back after he surprised him one day, because the Dragon Slayer kicked him across the guild, blushing madly.
#67 - Food:
"Will you go on a date with me?"
"No."
"There's free food."
"Meet you at 7."
#68 - Pout:
After ten straight minutes of whining, complaining, and pouting, Gray gave in to walking to the mission on foot, because a pouty-faced, puppy-eyed Natsu was too hard to say no to.
#69 - Grave
A year had passed since that tragic day.
Only Happy and Gray came to his grave now. Lucy went on solo missions for her rent money more often to distract herself, Erza found herself busy with S-Class duties, and everyone else was just too devastated to continue visiting Natsu's grave.
Gray sat down and leaned his head against the tombstone, which was still slightly damp from yesterday's rain. He delicately picked up a daisy that was growing nearby, and plucked the petals off one by one.
"He loved me, he loved me not. He loved me, he loved me not. He loved me, he loved me not. He loved me-"
Gray ran out of petals, and brushed them off his dark-wash jeans. "Ne, flame-brain, did you love me?"
Gray tilted his head to look into the swirling clouds in the sky. Gray swallowed the ever-present lump in his throat, and whispered:
"Because I always loved you."
#70 - Girls
Natsu hated it when Gray talked to other girls- who knows, they could try to seduce him and he would fall for her charms and he would leave Natsu- but when Gray flashes him a cheerful smile and leaves the rejected girl behind, all of those feelings fade away.
#71 - Head
His hands tugged at his hair as he exhaled loudly in a mishmash of anger, sadness, and frustration. "I act like I hate you so you won't ever find out I actually like you, godamnit! Can't you get that through your head?"
#72 - Hollow:
The hollowed-out tree in the woods behind their home held the time capsule of their most precious memories as they continued to make more, even after twelve years of bro together.
#73 - Honor:
The dare the was all in good fun for the ladies, but it was only draining the last of Natsu's dignity; (because honestly, would you look up to a boy dressed in a pin-up model's cat suit and about to knock down Gray's door for a kiss?)
#74 - Hope:
Gray stared at the beeping heart monitor, hoping that somehow, a miracle would happen, and Natsu's heartbeat (which was thumping slower by the second) would quicken once again.
#75 - Light:
When Gray was the saddest, Natsu was the flame that led him to safety.
#76 - Lost:
Natsu had misplaced the map again- and now Gray and Natsu were practically walking in circles in the dark forest (and somehow, and don't ask him how it happened, but they were now holding hands (Gray mentally noted for him to tease Natsu for being afraid later, but now he would have to deal with the blush creeping up on his face).
#77 - Marriage:
"Hey, Natsu, if I ever get married, will you be my best man?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because I'd rather be your groom."
#78 and #79 - Old/New
"Here's to the many years of friendship, rivalry, and love, the memories of the past they hold so dear, and here's to the years ahead, where they begin their life as husband and husband, destined to live happily ever after- three cheers for the grooms!"
#80 - Peace:
Lucy eventually got over the initial shock of her teammates breaking into her house (although her home was supposed to be where she could relax), but when she came into her room, only to find Natsu and Gray kissing on the couch, the surprise came back, and they both got the boot.
#81 - Poison:
"Stop longing. You poison today's ease, reaching always for tomorrow," Gray mumbled, running his thumb over Natsu's cheek to brush away a tear.
#82 - Pretty
"Call me pretty again and I'll break your face."
"Seeing you with that flush on your face when I call you pretty is definitely worth one of your lame punches."
#83 - Crazy
Natsu kisses with confidence and lust shining in his eyes, and Gray must be going crazy, because holy fuck, Natsu's lips are on his and he didn't expect to be feeling this way.
#84 - Regret
If only he wasn't such a coward; if only he just told him how he felt and didn't fear rejection, than maybe it wouldn't have ended up this way, and his arm would be around him then the pretty mage he was now dating.
#85 - Roses
"W-what are these for?"
"I remember you mentioning you liked roses once, so here you go."
"They're beautiful."
"So are you."
#86 - Secret (inspired by something on tumblr)
When Gray and Natsu got together, everyone expected the whole secret dating/ built-up sexual tension shebang. Imagine it: random fights over the simplest shit, all day, every day, screaming at each other, which was going over-the-top to protect their secret, concluded by wild make-out sessions in the back room or Gray's apartment.
But no, not with Gray and Natsu.
Natsu was one to go full-force on anything, even dating (and the fact he was new at it made him even more determined), so he would go to impossible lengths to please and surprise his boyfriend, complete with stealing him away (literally, he would pick him up, toss him over his shoulder, and run away) from anyone getting too close, showering him with dinner dates and picnics, and not hesitating to steal a chaste kiss on the cheek, forehead, or lips, even when they were in a middle of a conversation with Lucy and Erza.
Now, Gray was no slouch either in the boyfriend area. Gone were the one-night stands of two years ago, and here's to being 100% devoted to Natsu and only Natsu. His competitive streak with the boy kept the two on their toes on 'who could be the best boyfriend', a race they never imagined they'd be having towards each other (but weren't complaining on the matter).
When Mirajane voiced this guild-wide assumption to Gray and Natsu, who were holding hands under the seat, shared a look and raised their eyebrows. "Why would we make something like that a secret?"
"Well, maybe since you've been rivals for so very long, you'd be embarrassed to admit you actually loved each other, you know?" Mirajane said timidly with a half-smile.
"Embarrassed? How would I ever be embarrassed with being with Gray? I'll have you know..." Natsu continued his rant of his never-ending feelings, and Mirajane pulled up a chair, because she figured this was going to take a while.
#87 - Battle
"Hey, Natsu, want to have a face battle*?"
"I don't know what that is, but I will beat you, Gray!"
*face battle is a term I saw on tumblr. It means make out session c:
#88 - Snow
"Guys, it's snowing," Loke announced loudly, pointing outside- and Gray and Natsu shared a look before running up to each other and challenging each other to a snowball fight, running out of the guild.
Two hours later, a violently-shaking and practically asleep Natsu was carried into the infirmary bridal-style by Gray, who was looking rather worried, instead of his usual cross expression.
"Gray, what did you do?" Wendy gaped at the boy in his arms, who was rosy-cheeked and staring unconsciously at Gray. Trying not to look down at Natsu (who was, holy hell, snuggling up to his chest) and carefully lied him down in the infirmary bed.
"It's not my fault he can't withstand a bit of cold weather!" Gray whined, sitting in the chair.
"It looks like he just needs some hot tea. I'll go prepare it now," Wendy commented, rushing out of the room.
Gray continued to sit in the chair, with a careful eye on Natsu. He looked really cute, cuddled up in three blankets and wearing such an innocent expression on his face. Gray found himself unconsciously moving closer to Natsu until he opened his eyes.
"Gray."
"Y-yeah?"
"I totally won that fight," Natsu muttered sleepily. Gray laughed and stroked his hair tenderly. He decided he could live with one loss under his belt.
#89 - Stranded
"It's cold here," Natsu shivered. Gray realized that was bad- if Natsu was cold, he could be on the brink of hypothermia.
"What do you want me to do about it?" Gray spat, hugging his knees to his chest. He was cold too, but it wasn't as bad for him.
Natsu scooted closer on their makeshift bed in the cave, leaning his head on Gray's shoulder. Gray's drooping-from-exhaustion eyes snapped open. Natsu looked up at him and scowled.
"It's not like I want to do this. I'm trying to conserve body heat."
It was a struggle to sleep before, but now that Natsu was leaning on him, Gray definitely wasn't going to be falling asleep tonight.
#90 - Summer:
Even though his name meant summer, Natsu didn't particularly like the season, because that's when Gray was even more of a mopey ash hole than usual (and he'll deny it, but he liked Gray when he was happy, even though it was never directed at him).
#91 - Stable
At first, their relationship was rocky, with them trying to work with each other's flaws and focal points, and they weren't going to lie; it was a big pain in the ass (especially the fighting over the thermostat), but now, the few weeks of annoyance resulted in one of the best love stories in Fairy Tail.
#92 - Strange
It had been going on for exactly thirteen days now.
Natsu hadn't been fighting anyone, and it was both annoying Gray and freaking him out considerably. He didn't know how the Dragon Slayer was lasting that long.
It ticked Gray off to the point to where he marched up to Natsu and demanded what was going on with him.
He spotted Natsu sitting by himself and poking at a plate full of food. Gray stomped over and slammed his palms forcefully on the table. "Natsu! What's your problem?" Gray demanded. "You haven't been fighting for almost two weeks now?"
"Is that so...?" Natsu mumbled, not making eye contact. Infuriated, Gray slid into the seat next to him.
"Everyone's worried!" Gray continued, frowning. I'm worried...
Natsu looked over his shoulder with a blank expression. Everyone in the guild was being normal (except no fights were going on). "They don't look worried."
"Well, I am! Now you better tell me what's wrong, before I-"
"No thanks," Natsu cut him off monotonously. "Not in the mood." Natsu stood up to go put away his plate with food still on it, crazily enough, leaving a stuttering and outraged Gray behind. Gray shoved the table back, grabbed Natsu, and yanked him out the doors. Gray kept pulling him (who wasn't complaining or yelling) until they were in the forest, away from their friends.
"Natsu..." Gray began, looking away. "It's weird seeing you like this. Can't you tell me what's wrong?"
"You," Natsu muttered, casting his eyes to look at his feet. "You're what's wrong."
Gray looked genuinely surprised at this. "What? What did I do?"
Natsu suddenly transformed from mopey and quiet to angry and loud. He smashed his fist straight into Gray's jaw, who cried out in pain.
"You made me fall for you, bastard!" Natsu screamed, running away top-speed in tears.
Gray watched him go, holding his hand tenderly to his cheek. Realization dawned upon him, and he sunk down next to the tree behind him and brought his knees up to his face.
"That's nothing to get mad at for, idiot," Gray whispered.
Especially since I feel the same way.
#93 - Hands
All the powers in the universe are already theirs- it is them who have put their hands before their eyes and cry that it is dark.
#94 - Taboo
"So, how many people have you dated before me?" Natsu asked in Gray's lap as they cuddled in front of the fire.
(A/N front just autocorrected to Droy (fat guy on FT) and I had this awful mental image)
Gray inwardly cringed and sucked in a breath. "C-can we not talk about that before?"
"Why not?" Natsu pressed.
"Just drop it!"
#95 - Ugly:
The only flaw Gray had was the fact he thought he was ugly (when in reality, Natsu thought he was beautiful, inside and out.)
#96 - War
Natsu ran his thumb over the bandage on Gray's face, sighing heavily. The war was over- the dragons were defeated (Natsu couldn't even think about what it'd be like if there were even one more), his nakama were alive and relieved, and he was, for once, tired of fighting.
#97 - Water
"Ugh! Gray! Never cook for me again! Ugh! I need water! Ugh!" Natsu bolted to the sink and sprayed the power nozzle in his mouth, resulting in getting his entire front side wet.
Gray rolled his eyes and tossed the chicken parmesan in the trash bin. "You don't have to tell me twice. From now on, we're eating out."
#98 - Welcome
"Welcome to Fairy Tail!" Erza smiled at the young, pink-haired boy. "My name is Erza. This is Gray. Nice to meet you!"
Onyx eyes met dark blue ones, and something clicked.
It was destiny, the two of them. They could see it in their eyes.
#99 - Winter
"I fucking hate winter!" Natsu whined, sliding into the barstool next to Gray (who was shirtless and eating a popsicle, which was breaking the code of normal on a cold January afternoon), and rested his head in his hands.
"Need me to warm you up?" Gray mumbled, causing Natsu to blush wildly and jolt his head in the other direction.
"S-sure."
"Okay! Let's fight then!" Gray announced, unconsciously tearing off his pants and discarding his popsicle.
"Oh- that's what you meant..." Natsu mumbled, wondering why the hell did I think he meant that other thing, and e got up as well. "Okay, you're on, stripper."
#100 - Woods (continuation of #92)
Gray sat in those woods for a good hour, thinking about what Natsu had said. He kept hearing those words over and over.
"You made me fall for you, bastard!"
Gray stood up abruptly, clenching his fists. He was going to make this right- somehow. Gray ran as fast as he could back to the guild, praying Natsu had gone back there (since his own house was so far away).
Gray slammed the doors open, searched frantically for the pinkette, and spotted him looking out the window with a sad expression on his face. Gray took a deep breath and moved to go sit next to him. Natsu felt a shift in the booth and saw Gray sitting there. He thought to move, but he didn't have the energy to do that.
"Are you mad?" Natsu quipped softly instead.
Gray nodded smugly. "Yup."
"Why?" Natsu asked, feeling hot tears brimming at his eyes. Gray reached down and took Natsu's hand in his own, trying not to blush.
"Because I fell right back, idiot."
