6. The QB Bad Boy and Me
I did not read this book. Why? It's a paid story, I know. If it were a really good story, I would've considered wasting my money over it, but the sad truth is that it isn't.
Sorry for spilling coffee on the book.
But even if it's a paid story that I won't like to waste my money on, why did I not even read the first few free chapters?
It's not about money, it's about content. I was turned off the moment I clicked on the book. The cover is plain. Too plain, and it's not eye-catching at all.
After the cover, I noticed the summary, which literally warned me to not open the book. Here is the summary:
Reluctant cheerleader Dallas Bryan has a problem on her hands and his name is Drayton Lahey. Ever since the hot star quarterback of the high school football team hit her car with his motorcycle, he has the annoying ability to get under her skin, making Dallas think about Drayton way more than she should...in all the ways that she shouldn't.
But Dallas has one goal to pursue her dance-school dreams in in California and no one, not even a hard-bodied, green-eyed football god, will stop her. As the tension between Drayton and Dallas grows thicker, the lines are getting blurred, and all she wants is to come undone under his touch.
But this thing between Dallas and Drayton could cost her her dreams...if he doesn't break her heart first.
Now, I spotted like fifteen errors in the summary itself which I've underlined to help you notice them too. There are a lot of unnecessary commas, use of hyphens instead of en dashes, and a wee bit repetition.
What does this tell me about this book?
1. It has bad grammar.
2. It's still very famous and has been published by Wattpad.
Now, what does this tell me about Wattpad?
1. Wattpad needs to improve its standard and choose unique stories above the cliche ones.
2. Wattpad definitely needs to view the grammar of a book before making it a paid story.
After grammar, there is the plot. What in the world is a reluctant cheerleader? She's stiff and sounds like someone who would need to get laid, like seriously. Just look at her character, there's nothing there. Drayton Lahey, what kind of name is that?
Anyway, this guy, I tell you sounds like a person who's got a stick up their ass and needs help. I definitely did not need to know how hard-bodied and green-eyed he was. I just needed to know his traits, but the author, like every other 'bad boy' author, has stereotyped her character before her book even started.
Now, what does this tell me about the characters of the book?
1. The characters are stiff-backed stereotypes that need some drinks.
2. The characters are so cheesy and cliche that it makes my brain say 'Function Error'.
***
That's all I have to say for now. I do not recommend this book either. Sorry if this offends you. Even my ten-year-old self could've written a better teen fiction than that.
