"Dad found Annemarie in her bed with her empty pill bottle, a pack of Tylenol, and some of moms old antidepressants meds from when we were kids?" Mason asked, as the older siblings congregated around the island, while the younger girls sat on the couch. Enzo nodded, glancing to Lesley who was tearing at the counter top.
"How did she even get moms old pills. I thought she got rid of them before you were born," Lesley pointed out, remembering the long talks she had with her mom about her past.
"She did. But, Stevie put them back in the cabinet. She didn't trust that mom wouldn't need them," Enzo replied. Mason smacked the counter, seeing this as another thing to add to the list of things his mother screwed up.
"She's gonna survive this, right? Like, they got her back before going to the hospital, right?" Lizzie panicked, cuddling into Mason's side. No one had a straight answer and their faces said so.
"When I last called mom for an update about thirty minutes ago, they were pumping her stomach. They wouldn't pump the stomach of a dead girl. So, I took that as a good sign," Enzo answered. He glanced to his right to see his sweet baby girl curled into her aunts legs. He could only imagine the toll this was taking on her.
Behind Lesley, the younger siblings stared at the coffee table in silence. Only the sounds of Feathers sniffles were heard. Allie laid her head on Joi's shoulder while stroking Feathers head in her lap. "Why would she do this?" Allie mumbled, trying not to cry on her nieces head. Nova, with her knees curled to her chest in the corner of the sectional shrugged.
"Did you guys know she was that bad off?" Nova asked. Everyone except, Claudia shook their heads. "Dia, what do you know?" Nova asked, singling out the other twin. She stayed quiet for a moment as the eyes of her sister and nieces laid on her. "Claudia! What the hell do you know?" Nova yelled, getting the attention of the siblings in the kitchen. They too, soon joined the party in the living room taking seats on the coffee table and sectional.
"Hey, hey, what's going on?" Enzo softly asked, taking a seat in front of his baby sister.
"Nova, watch your mouth," Lesley scolded, earning an eye roll from her teen. A unanimous look of shock hit everyone, hearing Lesley parent her child. It was as if Opposite Day was on steroids.
"Claudia, what happened?" Enzo said once agin, with the same gentle tone. A tear dropped from the second youngest Miranda sibling, as the sight of her twin helpless on the floor flashed before her eyes.
"I knew she was weak. I took an easy shot. W—why did I do that?" Claudia finally broke. Enzo pulled her into his lap and stroked her hair. He was the only one that wasn't ready to put Claudia in the hospital himself.
"Shh, hey," he coddled, "you didn't mean it. You were just moving off of instinct," Enzo tried. In a moments notice, Claudia was ripped off of her brothers lap and thrown on to the couch.
"Fix your faces!" Mason yelled you the others. No one did, forcing him to get louder. "Fix them!" He barked. The woman of the Miranda family dropped their scowls and stared at their nephew. "Y'all are not about to sit on a high horse and use Claudia as a scapegoat! None of you! Not a single one can say they didn't aid in this! I know what you guys did. Excluding her, ignoring her, cursing her. And that was all after the fight! You," he said pointing to Claudia, "you froze seeing her on the ground, but had no hesitation kicking her a few times, before she even got up. You," he moved to Allie, "you are supposed to be the mature one! We can't always be here to do what's right, and that's where you were supposed to step in! You knew they were feuding and you let it happen, hell you even fueled it sometimes. You want mom and dad to accept you grown man boyfriend, yet you still act like a child. Pathetic. Grow up! You," he moved to Nova, "you are a kind and sweet girl. This is beneath you. You've seen what happens when families don't communicate. You lived through it, with your mother and Nona. You should've been the first one to go to Annemarie and mend things. Just because you're only older by a little doesn't mean you stoop to their level. Clearly, age has nothing to do with maturity. And," Mason said, looking to Lesley and Enzo. "Guys, we should've been better siblings. We knew how much pain they were in, but we let our personal lives get in the way of family. Mom and dad can't be everywhere at once. And it's clear that they doing their best wasn't good enough. When we were little, Mom—Stevie— helped us while mom was going through it, but no one was there for her in her time of need and we lost her. And the same thing almost happened tonight because of a petty fight and pride. This family can't take another heart break," Mason finished, before going back to stand behind Lizzie on the couch.
"That was beautiful, babe," she whispered, taking his hand and placing it in her shoulder, comfortingly. The couple sat back and watched as they came up with a plan to show Annemarie how sorry they were for the past weeks and years.

At the hospital, Pippa dragged her feet, slowly pacing beside her daughters bed. She had just had her stomach pumped, and was hooked up to a feeding tube to keep her energy up. Every now and then Lin would look up to see Pippa wipe a tear or clutch her abdomen tighter. "Babe, why don't you sit down. You don't want to stress the baby," Lin advised. Pippa stopped dead in her tracks and turned to her left.
"Stress the baby? What about mommy? This is why I never wanted another baby! We can barely keep track of the ones we have! Our second daughter almost died tonight and your worried about this baby?" Pippa yelled.
"Yes, because that's our child too!" Lin fought back.
"Our daughter is lying in a hospital bed, after trying to commit suicide! I don't give two shits about a baby that I never wanted, right now!" She yelled, before even fully thinking. Lin bit his lip, and slowly folded his arms.
"So that's how you feel about our child?" He mumbled.
"Yeah,"
"Yeah?"
"Yeah,"
"I—" Lin stuttered. It was soon clear to Pippa that she had crossed so many lines. "Last time I said this, it was to be an ass, but this time I mean it. Go get an abortion. If that's what you want. But I can't promise, I'll be here when you get back," he said, dropping onto the couch and shutting his eyes. Phillipa turned her back on her husband, to face her daughters bed.
The fear and anxiety from her first abortion started to come back, thinking about the hallway. The sounds. The tools. She couldn't go through that again if she tried. And she didn't mean to sound so heartless, but the starting over. That scared her just about the same. "Lin, I—" she turned back only to see him gathering his coat and keys. "Where are you going?" She asked.
"I can't do this with you right now,"
"Lin, wait!"
"Pippa, please,"
"Lin! Just—" The two stood in front of their daughters bed, face to face. For a split second the world stopped and the pain was faint. Lin looked down between them to see Pippa gripping his wrist for dear life. Slowly, she moved his hands to her hard abdomen. His fingertips brushed gently against the camisole under her cardigan.
"Pip," he breathlessly spoke, pulling up the fabric and using his warm palms to heat up her skin. "How far along are you? Or when did this happened?" He asked, clueless of how pregnancy worked even though he had lived through four out of the five she had had.
"The last time we actually had sex was the night of our date," Pippa replied. "So maybe 10 -11 weeks?" She guessed. Lin looked up to her, confused.
"And you didn't know?" He asked. Pippa nodded.
"I mean... I wasn't completely oblivious, but I— I was just in denial," she honestly spoke. Lin dropped his things on the ground and knelt in front of Pippa's stomach.
"Hi, baby girl," Lin whispered. Pippa playfully rolled her eyes praying the baby wasn't another girl. " Hi, Esmeralda," he smiled. Pippa folded her arms.
"Esmeralda? And what is she is a he?" Pippa smirked. Lin looked at her dumbfounded.
"A boy? You're funny. We have one, apparently that was our max. If this sucker pops out a boy, I'll buy you an island," he joked. A smile came to Pippa's lips, as she watched her husband stand back up.
"Yeah, yeah," Pippa replied, turning to to her daughter as she fixed her shirt. "I just want our daughter to wake up," she mumbled, as Lin put his stuff back down. Pippa sat in the free standing chair by the bed, and stared at her daughter. "Come on, AM. It's mommy. We want you to get up. It's time to go home," Pippa whispered, taking her child's cold hand. She hated coming to the hospital, but it seemed traditional at this point.

Three hours later, Enzo dropped his head as he leaned against the kitchen counter. "Alright. Tell her we love her," he said, hanging up. Everyone stopped as Enzo came back to the living room.
"So?" Mason asked, leaning off of the lit fire place. Enzo shrugged, and leaned over the back.
"Mom said that AM woke up about fifteen minutes ago. She's not speaking right now. Uhh, but they ran some test and they got the drugs out of her system," Enzo said. Everyone started to look up, until Enzo continued. "But, they want to do a psych evaluation before they let her go. If she fails, she's looking at an automatic 30 days inpatient," he finished. Claudia threw her head back as Allie and Lesley heavily sighed.
"She's gonna fail," Lesley said. Everyone looked at her like she had grown another head. "What? Wouldn't you? I would! If you had a choice of going to rehab or coming back to my living hell... come on. It's a no brainer," Lesley spoke.
"We can't let her do that!" Claudia fought, hoping off the couch. "She can't go to rehab! She doesn't need it! She needs us!" She cried.
"Just because you feel guilty—"
"This is not guilt!" Claudia yelled. "This is—" she paused. All eyes were on her. "I don't have any stories of a time where I every did anything for Annemarie. And vise versa. And the last opportunity I had to help her, I missed. Not this time. Like Mason said this family can't take another heart break. We, as her siblings, have to help her!" Claudia decreed. Silence coated the room as the second youngest looked around. With pleading eyes, Claudia gaze feel on the only member of the family that still had enough child like innocence to believe in hope.
"Oh come on, Zo! She's your sister. My aunt! We have to help her!" Feather chimed in. Enzo glanced to his daughter with a look of strain.
"Feath, is not that easy baby. Things like this are complicated," he tried.
"Then make them uncomplicated. That's a cop out, daddy!" Feather accused. Enzo couldn't help but smirk at his daughter, forcing her to smile. "Operation Save AM is a go?" She asked. Enzo looked to his siblings.
"Guys?" Enzo asked. Shared glances and short head nods filled the living room. "Alright, you heard the girl! Let's get planning!" He cheered, as the door bell rang. Allie and Joi glanced to each other before hoping up.
"Reinforcement's are here!" They cheered.
"I'll order some pizzas," Lesley chirped. "Daddy's card still on file?" She smirked.
"It's like she never left," Allie giggled, walking into the living room with her friends. This was the first time all of the kids were coming together, but with the news Lin and Pippa had for them it would be the last.
