War
War
"You don't have to do this... you know", her small flower-bud lips, small as all the flowers in that world were, whispered, shaking each syllable. Purple feline eyes staring, fixed, into the dark eyes of the man in front of her.
The second sun, the scarlet star, had risen an hour after the first one did, marking the beginning of summer time in Zabalah; but also the time of war.
"I'd do everything I need to protect you, my queen. I'll give my life for you without blinking", his mouth curved slightly into a smirk, while tears been held up.
"You always make me smile, no matter what or when... you know I can not blink", she lowered her gaze before turning away to the unearthly spectacle of two suns shining mildly above. Her litmus smooth skin glittered sparks of yellowish marbled-tone.
"You're the most stunning creature in the universe, there's no need of eyelids in your face... I love you Shendarmeé." The man placed a kiss on the queen's forehead.
"I love you, Michael."
to the sound of horns blowing at the plazza in front of the castle, an army assembled in perfectly-formed rows marched, blazing spears and laser weapons in arms. Sunbeams gave a reddish color to the stainless steel-toned armors and shields. Hovering chariots flanked the armada side to side, while colossal mammoth-looking beasts stomped at the rear.
"General Smith, is time to go", a high-ranked soldier handed a clean-shaped metallic with blinking buttons rifle to Michael.
The handsome man only nodded in response as he grabbed the weapon in his hand.
"Please..." she managed to say something, but Michael placed his index finger on her lips.
"I'll be back. I swear... along with this I promise, humans, or any other form of life, will never, ever come back here in terms of conquering while I'm here, with you. I'll protect you and your people, now my people, at all cost."
"I know the conflict... the sacrifice you're making."
"There's no inner conflict. I'll fight for you no matter what or who, even if humans. I'll choose you over my own if they mean harm to you... because you are my own, my everything." He embraced her in arms and then kissed her, a long tender kiss. With his thumb, he wiped her pinkish-translucent tears off her cheek. "Wait for me here. I'll be back soon".
"I'll be here. Promised." Shendarmeé arched up her pinky, the way Michel had taught her to seal a promise.
He smiled. "Yes, pinky promise", then walked away, leaving the terrace.
The queen veered down to watch with resignation the troops marching away. In a hovering chariot, Michael had just passed below the bridge to join the armada. On the horizon, the first human spaceships appeared. War had just begun.
