Portion 10: [TESA] Slow Down
Previously, in Tesa's point of view...
She got kidnapped by the infamous pervert, Tatsuya.
After a few misunderstandings with Haruto, one of Tatsuya's fellow 'companions', Tesa and Haruto warm up to each other as they take their time to talk.

~I'm An Idiot. Thanks For Noticing~
Sitting on the bench of the balcony outside of this gigantic mansion, I broke the momentous moment that silence has taken over.
"So, I only have a few questions." I said, giving Haruto one hell of a serious look.
He grinned. "Only a few?"
I rolled my eyes. "Why do you live?" The boy snickered at my reply.
"Okay, so, first off," I said, positioning myself comfortably. My eyes, sky blue as the azure horizon, locked into his beautiful sharp maroon ones as his hair, a mix of silver and white, flowed over them with such graceful capacity. "Well, um..." I trailed off, staring at his hair.
Haruto cocked his head to the side. "Well?"
"I forgot." I deadpanned. And that wasn't a lie. One moment, my mind was clouded with questions and thoughts, and the next thing I knew, I blanked out like someone just ejected something off my brain like a USB.
The boy just gave me a stare for a moment as if reading my mind and crawling into my pond of truth. I squirmed uncomfortably at his action then he stopped. "Okay then, forget-me-not."
I raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?"
Haruto gave me a cute grin that made me view him as a five year old. "Forget-me-not. A flower most commonly called Myosotis. Excluding the Northern Hemisphere, which is what they call Forget-me-nots."
"Alright, nerd..?" I muttered.
That little comment made his face look ashen and sad. A slight feeling of guilt slapped my face.
I awkwardly looked away and swung my foot, repeatedly punching the air, and the arm of the bench we were sitting on. "Why are you even telling me this? This has absolutely no connection to whatever we were talking about just a few moments ago."
"It does, actually," his voice was so hushed, it made me look up and face him again. He gave me a genuine smile. "You're forgetful. You forgot what you were going to ask. Yet those sky blue eyes of yours make you.. light up." He looked down, his face covered in layers of scarlet. "And.. that pretty much reminded me of a forget-me-not."
My eyes blinked and silence, once again, took control of the moment. Finally, my throat gave way to my voice. "Wow... For a pretty serious type of person, you're quite cliché, huh?"
He looked away and mumbled some words I couldn't decipher. I just laughed.
Until...
B O O M
A loud sound made a deafening echo and vibration throughout the mansion. We felt the vibration tingle in our toes.
Both of our eyes lit up at the exact same moment. Our eyes caught each other a giddy sense of negative anticipation. We shot up from the bench instinctively.
"W-What w-was t-t-that?!" I faltered, looking at Haruto with a fearful look. "Sounded like a b-break-out.. or something."
Haruto hushed me. "Ssh. Don't say that." He scanned around the area from where he was standing and nodded at me, signaling the 'perpetrator' isn't near us and that we should escape. I did not know how I read his expression right then. But however I did it, I saved the question later.
He grabbed my hand and we ran outside of the balcony, turning to the maze-like garden of the backyard. My eyes widened as I remembered Tatsuya. "Wait... what about Sir Pervy?!"
"Knowing that guy, he's probably escaped already. He's alerted right away," he explained while we ran.
My lips puckered and I just stared at his back as he whisked me away to a crowd of trees that surrounded an underground warehouse.
I smiled at the thought that we might make it through but then it slowly faded when I realized Haruto has stopped running. "Haruto?"
His grip on my hand tightened and that caused me to look up.
Right in front of the entrance of the underground warehouse, a lady was standing.
I probably should've cowered in fear or screamed or continued hiding behind Haruto, hoping he'd protect me or anything that any typical normal average girl would do.
Instead, I picked up a rock that was lying on the ground, right next to my foot, and threw it on the lady. I heard the lady yelp then she glared at me and Haruto.
Haruto's grip tightened more and he muttered, "Idiot."
I rolled my eyes. "Thanks for noticing."
As if I needed that ridiculous, matter-of-fact reminder.

~Mess With My Friend, Mess with Me~
"So, what's the plan?" I muttered under my breath.
Haruto gave me another unreadable expression, though I could tell he was pissed from the way his voice sounded. "How am I supposed to know? Who acts first, leads first."
My eyes shot daggers at him and I wanted to just scream, 'run.' But we were trapped. My brain started making perpetual calculations, racking on ideas and possibilities to escape in the hands of the "perpetrator."
The lady, basing on her own position not my perspective, her right foot was tilted slightly twenty degrees to the east while her left knee bent, facing a slight bit of ten degrees west. Our distance was around four feet and a few centimeters.
This had the possibility that if we ran to the left, with her left knee bent, that would give her the attempt of using the force within to push herself away from her current position, giving her speed.
If we ran to the right, with her right foot facing the same direction and slightly tilted up, and judging from her body, she's fast enough to catch up to us though it'll be a delay of three seconds comparing to choosing the left.
And obviously, we couldn't go north, where she was just in standing in front of us, giving us a dark glare with her eyes looking like a hungry, wild animal that's ready to pounce on us. Going south, or backwards, no.
We obviously can't fly... I thought. Unless we use Haruto's psychic powers. But... she'll still be able to catch up to us. Oh, Hades! I stomped my foot in frustration.
I glanced up and Haruto bent slightly, making a pose that seemed like he was trying to protect me. The boy's arms extended on the sides, and his eyes changed from his normal dark brown ones to a ferocious, wild shade of maroon.
"Pesky mortal," the lady grumbled, not really specifying if it was me or Haruto that she was referring to. Her stance changed into a still one. Just like a standing position, but floating in midair. "Give the girl to me." The lady raised a finger, pointing it at my direction.
I gulped and Haruto knit his eyebrows. "Why would I?" Anger entered his voice as he stared at the lady with an icy expression.
"Haruto," I whispered. "Don't do anything reckless."
He unconsciously nodded without looking at me. Though I could still see his wild and angry expression.
For a split second, time was still.
Then it began.
The lady lunged forward, her eyes all focused on Haruto. Moving her left arm backwards and thrusting it in Haruto, he deflected it with his psychic. The boy smiled but then it was immediately replaced with a shocked expression when the lady used her right arm, using it to reach for me.
Her fingers were only two inches from touching one of my hair strands. Haruto quickly controlled the other arm and the lady groaned in slight pain. My eyes gazed over at Haruto with a modest expression. "You okay?" Haruto asked, not daring to look away from the lady for his psychic might let go of her.
I nodded but then realized he couldn't see me. I cleared my throat. "Y-Yeah."
I heard the boy sigh then he smirked and the lady glared. She made an attempt to kick the boy by the face, but yet again, had the same result. Now controlling both of her legs and both arms, Haruto used his psychic to throw the lady across the isle, making her crash into the Underground Storage sign.
Haruto glanced at me and I grinned. "Good jo-"
I spoke to soon.
You're so useless. A voice inside of me hissed. I rolled my eyeballs in a fractal manner, not bothering to say anything.
The lady shot up in the sky from the ground, her red bat-like wings spreading. She sneered at Haruto. "You're unwanted here, boy. You're only making this more difficult. I only have business with the girl. Now, move out of the way, otherwise."
Haruto and I exchanged looks. He glared at the lady with his maroon eyes, ready to control any feeble attempts that she has under her sleeve.
The lady sighed and gave him a spiteful look. "You asked for it."
And with that, she once again lurched forward to our direction, focused mostly on the boy standing beside me.
I could've done something.
Anything.
But instead, like the dumb idiot I am, I just stood and watched in horror as Haruto failed to take control of her and felt the pain of her bite on his neck. Blood and gore splashed messily around him and the lady and he screamed in agony.
"No..." I said.
I watched as the boy dropped from her grip and fell on the ground, unconscious.
I fell to my knees as the lady wiped her bloody mouth. She glanced at me and I instantly felt fear. Fear and anger. Great. I'm gonna die. And in the most dumb way for I can't do anything.
The lady slowly walked up to me and bent down to meet my eye-level. "Hey-"
"Don't 'hey' me!" I yelled angrily, pushing her away. She gave me a surprised look as if I got dirt on her or something. I cried and forced my voice out. "You killed him! You killed my friend!! You're gonna pay for that!"
The lady attempted to lay a hand on me but I slapped it away. "Don't touch me! Stay away from me!"
"Look, kid, this isn't what it look..."
I didn't hear the rest of her sentence. My head jerked forward, feeling dizziness and pressure around it. I couldn't move. Or maybe I could but I make out the sense that I was. My hearing faded and the lady's voice seemed to hush away. My vision blurred and the lady stopped talking.
I felt my mouth utter some words with a tremble, but couldn't make out what I said. But I knew it felt like the three-syllable name of my friend.
"Haruto..."
My vision turned all black. Like something ringing when you have too much water or when you have earache, a sharp, high-pitched sound snapped in my ears.
Then my consciousness got completely knocked out.

-Kyuu Ketsueki-
~Typical Immortal~
"Haruto..." The girl mumbled unconsciously.
The boy that I bit earlier has recovered though he still lay, resting. Rendered with my aid and the help of Tatsuya's aid, we healed the scars that were left on the boy. I glanced at the girl named Tesa then at the boy named Haruto with complete utter guilt.
"Feeling the guilt, pesky girl?" Tatsuya asked, finishing healing the mortal boy's injured neck.
I rolled my eyes at the stupid nickname and decided against replying. He just smirked, making feel even more intimidated.
Tatsuya was a quintessential example of the typical character of a group. Annoying, perverted, yet powerful at the same time. At least that's what I can see in him through my mind. There was this one information that blocked my mind from trying to get from him.
We have never met before. Never in a billion or trillion years, considering the fact I've only lived for eight hundred million and ninety-one years. Despite that, I felt such a negative aura coming from him. Not all negative auras are necessarily bad. Maybe it's just that he's.. a killer, perhaps. In the past.
"How old are you?" I questioned without looking at him. My eyes lay their focus on the injured male and female.
Tatsuya raised an eyebrow. "Biologically, or-"
"Both."
"Oh, uh," the male bit his lower lip and glanced at the empty piece of rolled tissue cardboard that he, earlier, stupidly thought could've healed the mortals. "Realistically, I'm exactly six billion years old. Biologically, I'm twenty-one."
The sides of my mouth couldn't help curling into a smugly smile. "So that makes me older than you," I paused as Tatsuya frowned. "Biologically anyway."
"Why? How young are you?" The male asked.
My left eye twitched at his question. How young am I? Not likely how you ask people of their age. I didn't bother answering and changed the topic. "Did you see me earlier?"
"What do you mean?"
I puffed out a small amount of air. "When I burst into this mansion, dumb casanova."
"Casano-" he stopped himself, then nodded. "Yes. I saw a really scary-looking bat lady."
I cursed under my breath which just made him laugh. I continued, "Why didn't you stop me, then? I could've wrecked more than just..." My eyes glazed over Haruto and my voice lowered. ".. him."
The stretched his arms then paused for a moment before he beckoned me to go across the distance of the two us. "Come here."
My hand instantly gripped on my celestial silver knife that Gad has given me. I attempted to speak up but Tatsuya did before I could. "I won't hurt you. Promise in Gad's name."
I raised an eyebrow and I slowly lowered my hand that was about to take out my knife. "You... Gad," I couldn't, for some odd reason, really say what I was thinking but he seemed to get the message and nodded.
I gave him a long, suspicious stare, but then finally decided, he might not be so bad. Especially after healing that mortal Haruto and the Chosen One. I got just to my knees and crawled near him then sat a good 1 foot away from him. I crossed my legs. "Okay, speak."
"I knew you," Tatsuya played with the empty piece of cardboard with his psychic powers. The cardboard floated in midair, making weird somersaults. I waited patiently for him to continue. "I knew you had something to do with that girl." He nodded his head on the unconscious Chosen One, resting right next to Haruto.
He stopped playing with the cardboard and the object fell on the floor helplessly. Tatsuya crossed his legs, imitating my position, then gave me a serious look. "I've been around here in this world for years, girl. Don't underestimate me. I know that old man gave you some mission to get a group of people called... Chosen Ones, was it?"
My eyes widened. "How-"
"You and Him were in the cave," he continued. "My mind can capture several different events happening. As long as it's near where I am."
My mouth trembled. "So, you're saying..."
Tatsuya nodded. "Right. I heard every single word that came out from that mouth of yours and from that old man's." His eyes didn't seem that friendly anymore. "Why are you doing something so... felonious?"
"It's not a crime to time-travel to fix something." I shot him a dark look.
He shook his head. "Not a crime. It's just so.. wrong. Interfering with two timelines."
"You don't know anything!" I snapped. "Gad is..." I immediately shut up. Tatsuya is an outsider. Unneeded. Anyone that should not be involved in this mission shouldn't know anything.
"I may not know about the reason why you're plotting this, but I know what's right and what's wrong." He said coldly.
"Shut up, immortal little Underling."
"I'm guessing that old man probably had problems in the future that He couldn't fix and couldn't let go so He wanted to go back to time." Tatsuya stood up and I was about to speak but my mouth shut up. He glared at me. "Zip it. I know you know that what He's doing is creating.. destruction, too."
"Mm! Mm mm mm! MMM!!" My lips still sealed, he used his psychic powers to hold me in place. My mouth, you moron! I was trying to say but either Tatsuya couldn't understand what I was saying, or he was just being a king of the jerks. My eyes shot daggers at him but he just ignored me and casually walked out of the room.
I cursed under my breath.
I can't stay here. I thought. If I do... I won't have time to get the others. Oh, why is time so limited in this fragile mortal world. My mind raced with plans on, how to escape from this psychic that I am forced against my will to stay put, that I'm sure would fail, until someone cleared their throat, startling me.
My head immediately shot up, expecting that feeble, little immortal to have finally come to his senses and free me. He wasn't there. I rolled my eyes. "I'm probably just tired. My mind's getting messed up."
"No.. Here." the voice said.
I turned to the speaker. My expression softened. You.
"Haruto's fine," the boy sat up, touching the area of his neck where I bit him. My eyes roamed to my clenched fists. I heard him snap his fingers, and I felt the weight of control escape me. My mouth breathed in the fresh air.
"Yes. Uh.. I apologize about earlier." I said, my guilt slapping my face again.
Haruto gave me a small smile and shrugged. "Actually, it didn't really affect me much."
I blinked. "What?"
"I built up this resistance to small pinches and bites. A lot of blood comes out but they're actually, uh, substituted blood." He explained.
I nodded, slowly taking it all in. He's smart for a kid.
"Besides," he continued. "I know I was stubborn. I knew what you wanted but I guess the information I heard slid of my head like a group of rocks blown down a mountain like avalanche."
I bit my lower lip. "You too, huh?"
Haruto glanced at Tesa. The girl still looked the same as earlier. With the exception that she looked much more better in health. "I'm not like Tatsuya. I'm not one to judge.. Well, sometimes. But as long as Gad knows what He's doing, I'm fine with that."
My threatened revolt to him fizzled out. Really? My mind said. He, of course, knew what I was thinking, and nodded.
"Well, kid," I carefully chose my words. "I mean Haruto. Would you mind if I take her?" I nodded at the sleeping girl.
"I don't," he quietly said. "Just... be sure she's safe."
We exchanged a few small words, and at any time, I've been half-expecting Tatsuya to pop out, but he didn't.
With agreement settled, I transferred Tesa to the other timeline.
Back then, I knew this girl was about to enter a dangerous world. I couldn't guarantee her safety. But my head made a nod anyway. "I assure you she'll come back." I didn't want to add 'alive.' That sounded bothering.
The boy smiled at me and I could see the expression of relief pass on his face. I feigned a smile.
Guilt immediately slapped my face again.

-Tesa-
~What?~
My eyes fluttered open like blinded windows. My head hurt. And I felt so... anxious, for some odd reason.
I gazed at my surroundings. Where was I? A... I can't tell. What's up with this space? It's making me claustrophobic, although I was half certain I never had claustrophobia.
It was like I was stuck inside a box like a helpless animal. There was no room for me to move. I was crouched, my hands wrapped around my knees. Wherever I looked, it was all like a blank space. All black. No light, no colors.
My head spun and it gave me a migraine. I cringed.
What's happening? Is this a dream? I-It probably is...
I didn't know what to do. But given my limited movements and dull vision, I passed out.
The next thing I knew, I was alone in a bed. At least I thought I was.
I heard voices.
"That poor thing," a voice of an old woman said. "Maybe she was kicked out of her parents. How cruel!"
"Well good thing we found her," another voice spoke. "The 3022th festival is coming tonight! She must've woken up by now."
My eyes were still closed. I frowned. 3022th festival? What are they talking about?
"Oh yes, before I forget, dear, when was the deadline for our special menu?"
"December 3022, dear. My, you're so forgetful."
My eyes shot up to see two old women looking at me. "W-What?" My mind couldn't really process everything. What? 3022? Okay, what?
"Oh, dear! You're awake!" the woman to my right exclaimed. She had grey hair tousled on her shoulders and brown as tree trunks eyes.
"You must haste, dearie," the other woman to my left said calmly. She looked younger compared to the woman to my right. She had black hair with a few strands of white. Her eyes were the same shade of brown. "I know you might be confused and all but we need to go to the festival, otherwise we'd be punished. We'll explain everything as we go there."
I furrowed my eyebrows. "Festival? 3022? Punished? What is going on?"
"My, she's a curious one." he woman to my right said.
Everything happened too fast. I felt like a trapped rabbit stranded on an island. But if I wanted to know what was happening, I had to cooperate.
And so, I did.
