Old Memories

Dean still had a huge frown on his face as you pushed past him, jumping into Jayden's arms. "I thought that voice tearing my head apart sounded familiar!" You exclaimed, a sudden lightness filling you. Just having something, someone from your old life was enough to calm some of your worries.

"I'm so sorry about that, I just wasn't sure how else to reach you." He said, returning the hug tightly, and you could hear Dean clearing his throat in the background.

"Alright, hands off of her. And how can we trust you?" Dean asked him, pulling you away from him. Jayden started moving in the small cabin, but Cas stepped forward, holding his Angel Blade up to Jayden's neck.

The two stared at each other for a moment, with Dean holding you back before Cas suddenly reached forward, pulling Jayden into a tight hug. "Dina, I can't believe it's you! I thought you died many years ago."

"Castiel, my brother, it's good to see you my brother. It's been far too long since I've seen a friendly Angel." Jayden, or Dina as Castiel called him, said as Cas moved to let him into the cabin. Dean seemed torn, wanting nothing more than to toss the man back out onto the gravel, but also wanting to know what the Angel was up to.

"So, you're an Angel?" You asked him, sticking close to Dean while studying your old friend. He had been your friend all through elementary school, before turning into your boyfriend your junior year of high school. "Were you always an Angel?"

He nodded, his smile vanishing as he took you in. "Yes, I've always been an Angel, making sure my vessel grew to match it's age. It was needed, so I could keep an eye on you, keep you safe."

"Well where were you when Uriel tried to capture her?" Dean asked, his hand wrapped possessively around your waist.

Jayden watched Dean's interaction with you, before giving you his trademark sly look the two of you had shared many times. "I had been called away, searching for something. It pains my heart to know I wasn't there to protect you."

"Jayden, it's okay. You were always there for me every other time I needed it." You told him, missing Dean's jealous glare.

"But still. I should have been there." He answered, before Cas guided him to the small kitchen table. He sat down gratefully, and both Cas and Sam joined him. Sam had stayed quiet this entire time, observing everything.

Dean eyed the empty chair, before guiding you to it. Once you sat down, he stood behind you, his hands resting on your shoulders. "Alright, why don't you start at the beginning. Because Cas might recognize you, but I still don't believe you're on our side."

You glared up at Dean, hating the fact that he was letting his jealousy get in the way of helping your case out. "Jayden, ignore him. He gets like this every now and then. But please. We would like to learn your story. Maybe it will help us figure out mine."

Cas nodded. "Yes, I would like to hear it too. Ever since you vanished after what the human's call the Civil War of the United States, I've wondered about you."

Jayden, you couldn't call him Dina, cleared his throat. "I'm sorry for vanishing without a trace. But it was needed. By that time I had met Charmeine, and had become her personal confidant." He started explaining, while the four of you stayed quiet. "She was amazing. Sweet and kind, and I fell in love with her. We knew it was frowned upon, but we couldn't help ourselves, and she hated the disharmony it was creating amongst out group. And then, when she decided she no longer wanted her grace, I helped her hide it, away from prying eyes, where we thought no one would dare look. She vanished then, leaving no way to contact her, with the only instructions to watch her grace, and to make sure no one used it for ill intentions."

"How did I end up with it?" You asked, still confused about that.

"That is a good question. Charmeine had it sealed away, far from anything. Maybe you were always destined to have it, and she had a spell that sent it into your system. You see, before I met her, she was an intern to Metatron, learning more about life, and everything than anyone. The way she studied, she probably knew more than him too. That's what made her so dangerous, and that's why she gave her Grace up, and became a human." He answered, making your head spin.

"So, how long ago was that? Is she dead now?" You continued throwing questions out, needing to learn as much as possible.

He smiled a broken hearted smile, giving you your answer. "I believe so. After she gave up her Grace, she gave up everything having to do with being an Angel, including me. But once I felt her Grace flowing through your veins, I became your personal guardian, keeping it safe so no one could use it."

"So what's your plan now? Because there is a hoard of bad Angels after Y/N right now, and we've just found out that if she uses it she could basically explode." Dean argued, still unsure about the man across from him.

"There is that possibility, yes. But I plan on helping you defeat Uriel, and moving the Grace to a better hiding spot." He confirmed, gazing right at you, and feelings of long ago started to emerge. You caught yourself blushing, which only caused Dean's hands to tighten more on your shoulders.

"We heard that removing the Grace from Y/N could be fatal for her." Sam stated.

"If not done properly, then yes, Y/N would die. But I believe that I have a way that will effectively remove it, while keeping Y/N whole and beautiful." He answered, just as Dean moved away from you, heading outside without a word to anyone. "Is he alright?"  Jayden asked as you moved to follow Dean, to see what was bugging him so much.

"He's not used to people barging in and taking over." Sam started explaining. "And put that with the fact that you have history with Y/N, not a good mix. Her and Dean just became a couple not too long ago, and he doesn't handle jealousy well."

You raced outside to find Dean leaning up against the Impala, his hands shoved in his pockets as he stared at the darkening sky. He must have heard your boots crunching the gravel, but he gave no indication as he stood there, a frown on his face. "Dean, what's wrong?" You asked him, coming to stand in front of him. The air was chilly, and you forgot your coat, and you wanted nothing more than to wrap yourself up in his arms, letting him be your heater. His mood seemed too sour for that, so you stayed back, wrapping your arms around yourself, trying to stay warm.

"I just can't believe we're letting him waltz right into our cabin, and act like everything's okay!" He grumbled low in his throat. "Yeah, you and Cas might have both known the man, or Angel. But that was eon's ago, and he might have changed. He could be working with Uriel for all we know!"

You sighed. "Dean, but what if he can help me? I would love to have the Grace gone, and if he can do that, isn't it worth believing in him, just a little bit?" You asked, tugging on the edge of his coat, taking a step closer. "And is this entirely about not trusting him? Or is it because him and I used to be a couple, a long time ago?"

"Y/N, it's..." Dean started, before he let out a string of curses. "I know you and I, are relationship is in the early stages. But I hated seeing the way the man was watching you. As if you were a piece of meat, and he hadn't eaten in a week. I just really don't trust that man."

It was kind of cute, how jealous Dean was. Stepping even closer, you wrapped your arms under his coat, around his waist, before pressing your cheek to his warm chest. He didn't move, didn't try to push you away or even try to wrap his arms around you. He stayed still, and you could tell he was still a little on edge. "Dean, you have nothing to worry about. What Jayden and I had, it was fleeting. We were both young, in our teens, and when our relationship ended we stayed friends. You're the one I want, the one I want to stay with." You told him, before standing on tip toes to press a kiss to the side of his mouth.

He gave in then, tilting his head down slightly and moving it so your lips were connected to his, his arms wrapping around you, giving you the warmth and comfort you wanted. "I still don't like it." He muttered against your mouth, but you kissed him again, and he forgot all about complaining.
