First day back on campus. Classes went okay, and during lunch I hung out with Maia at the library. I have to keep her close, given that I might need her sometime down the road and her constant whining about Marc makes it easy to learn about his schedule. Plus, to be honest, I kind of enjoy her company.

For the most part, we just did our homework and talked about how much we wished we were still on vacation. Maia told me about how she saw Julia in class today and how much it hurts to know that their friendship is over. I tried to ignore the last part. It made me feel guilty, and I don't have time for that.

And then the complaints about Marc arrived. Apparently, she saw him exiting the science building right before meeting with me, and he looked really cozy with another girl. "God, he's such a jerk," she said. "He didn't wait very long to move on, did he?"

I nodded along and added the occasional "wow" and "that sucks", but I'd already exited the conversation.
