Gym Class
After lunch we had a couple more classes, then came Gym. I walk down to the locker room, bag over my shoulder and nearly walk straight into a girl. "OMG I'm so sorry!" She says as her head jerks up from her phone. "No, it was my fault." I say, though I know it wasn't. "Aw! Stop lying, its mine." She says, putting her phone in her pocket. "Gym class?" I ask, seeing that she too has a bag. "Yeah." She says. "Cool--------." I start, literally dosing off after the word cool. The girl lightly slaps me and I wake up. She hands me a cup. "Here, it's Starbucks(yes, we have Starbucks here too), it's what kept me from doing that all through the day." She says. I take a drink, and even though I normally don't like coffee, it tastes really good. "Mmm! What is it?" I ask. "Uh, caramel white chocolate latte." She answers. "Hmm, I may have just found a coffee that I like!" I say. "Well, keep it. I'm full of energy, you need it!" She says. "Thanks!" I say as I walk off. For a second I forget that she was going to gym class too, but I remember when I see her behind me. When I get into the girls locker room I look around to see who else is there. Of course there's me and the latte girl. I see a girl with very pretty brown hair and well, rather pointy ears, a girl in yellow gym shorts and a sports bra running around yelling about a stolen shirt, a girl who is literally, and I really mean it, sitting on top of a top locker, Pinky(PAC man ghost), and who I'm guessing is a DDR girl by her outfit, of course those are only the most noticeable. I set my bag down beside my locker I was assigned to and look around. Latte girl ends up beside me. "Um, do we...." I start. "Were all girls! Change where you are!" She says, taking off her shirt. I change into my blue gym shirt and black gym shorts and swap my hightops for tennis shoes. I turn to latte girl to get better aquatinted. "So, what's your name?" I ask her. "Oh! I never told you? How rude of me! I'm Peach." She says. I don't know what it is with me and the Mario characters, but I'm meeting a LOT of them. "I'm Mara." I say. "That's a REALLY pretty name, and you can't get teased when you eat fruit either!" Peach laughs. "Aw! Geez, nobody would tease you!" I say. "I think you're starting to get us wrong." Peach says. "Whadda you mean?" I ask. "Well, most of the Mario game characters are really nice! Except for Mario and a few others. Luigi told me about you guys talking and well, so did Bowser." Peach says. "Wait, you and Bowser.....NO!" I exclaim with a gasp. "Yes!" Peach says cheerfully. "Oh! That's awesome!" I shout. "I would have never expected you two to get together voluntarily!" I say. "Well, we did!" Peach says. "But... what about..." I start. "Oh, Mario has no idea, he thinks I like him." Peach says, putting a finger to her lips to show that I was to keep this a secret. "Got it." I say. "So, who's the gym teacher?" I ask, but it doesn't get answered because a girl runs into the locker room wildly screaming. "EVERYONE FAKE AN INJURY! WERE PLAYING DODGEBALL!"
"Uh...i love dodgeball." I say, confused at why everyone else is super scared. "Oh, you won't like it the way we play it here." The girl says. I walk into the gym and immediately find out who the gym teacher is and why nobody likes dodgeball. In a corner of the room I see none other than Samus Aran herself with a blaster filled with, you guessed it, dodgeballs. The girl who was sitting on the locker walks out and says, "You know, I actually like dodgeball, then again, I'm good at avoiding things."
"Who are you?" I ask her. "Oh, I'm Astrid, you know, Dark Brotherhood quests, Skyrim. She says. "Oh, that explains the locker thing." I say. She walks off to go talk to someone and hands cover my eyes. "Guess who?" I hear. It's obviously Aiden. "Aiden, really?" I say pushing his hands away. "So, you're in this class." He says. "Yeah." I answer, looking around. Other than Aiden and the people I just met, I don't recognize anybody. "So, the only people I know in the class are a princess, a ninja-like chick, and a murderous violent psychopath." I laugh. "Sounds like a normal Monday." Aiden says all too casually. We both bust into a fit of laughter which would have lasted longer had we not have heard, "SO! YOU ALL KNOW WHAT WERE PLAYING TODAY!" I whip
My head to the left to see that Samus has stood up and raised her epic dodgeball cannon into the air. "Were gonna do this by lasts names, A-M On the far side of the gym, N-Z on the side closest to me." She says. I walk over and see Aiden walking with me. "Sweet, same team!" I say. "Yeah, were on a bad side of the gym though." He says. "Why?" I ask but am answered by a poor girl on our side getting hit with a high speed projectile dodgeball in the stomach. "Oh, she's on that side of the gym." I say. "Yep." Aiden says. "Oh! GO!" Samus shouts as a net on the ceiling opens, releasing dodgeballs into the gym. I run and grab one as a boy to my left is pelted with a ball. I run to the line and throw at Samus. I miss, but she sees me and she launches a ball at me. I duck out of the way and the ball whizzes over my head and hits a heavily armored girl straight in the face. I run back and nearly get knocked down as Aiden rushes past me and nails Peach in the face. I pick up a ball that rolls by my feet and make another attempt at Samus, but once again miss and once again narrowly avoid a cannon dodgeball. The girl who was running around the locker room without a shirt throws a ball at me which I catch, getting her out and getting the armored girl back in. That really doesn't help though because our side is dropping like flies thanks to the dodgeball cannon. I get another ball, how I have no idea whatsoever but I just go with it. I run and throw the ball, not even looking where and fully expecting to get hit with a shot dodgeball, but the impact never comes. I look up and see Samus fiddling furiously with the cannon, which has a dodgeball lodged in the barrel. "Oh my god." I gasp as I grab a ball and throw it at her, of course, finally hitting its target. My side cheers as the other groans while their best player walks onto the sideline. After that, we absolutely crush them. You just don't win with crushed spirits. Now, broken bones? I think a couple people on our team has those, but they'll figure it out eventually. I walk out of the gym after showering and Aiden runs to catch up. "What took ya so long?" I ask. "Had to nearly drag an unconscious person knocked out by a certain psychopath's fists off of my bags." Aiden says, gesturing to his more unkept than usual hair. "Do you not get in trouble?" I ask. "Wait...you don't know about the lives thing do you?" Aiden asks. "Uh, what?" I ask. "Us, as in video game people, have an almost unlimited supply of lives, you know, in case more games are added to our series." Aiden says. "So, they really have no problem with fights." He says. "So our world has Super Mario Logic?" I ask. "Yeah. Basically." Aiden says. "Well well well, what do we have here?" I hear a voice say from behind me. "Oh shit, here we go." Aiden groans. I turn on my heel and automatically know who I'm looking at. He's a boy who is slightly shorter than me and a bit bigger. He has curly brown hair with a red cap. His shirt is red and his jeans are splattered with paint. "That's Mario." I think to myself. "Can you not." Aiden growls, turning around with his eyes darkened with pure hatred. "You know you have nothing on me! Outside of our world, NOBODY knows you!" Mario says, pushing Aiden against a set of lockers. "Well the people here know me and guess what, they're pretty damn scared! So I suggest you back off! Even though killing you ultimately does nothing, I can still drag it out for as long as I want." Aiden says, pushing Mario off of him. "And who's this?" He asks, gesturing to me. "My name is Mara, thank you very much." I hiss. "Oh, so now you're gonna get smart with me?!" Mario shouts punching me in the face. I stagger back and Aiden rushes forward. "You did not just do what I think you just did." He growls, his voice overflowing with rage. "What?Maybe now little miss unimportant will stay where she belongs, in the background." Mario says pushing Aiden away right before he gets to him. I regain balance and walk up to Mario looking calm but internally mapping out the exact method in which I will kick his sorry ass. "Now listen here you idiot. I am my own person and I can choose where I stand, which in a moment you won't be able to stand." I hiss, only giving him enough time to give me a look of confusion before I kick him in the balls as hard as I can. He falls to the ground and I storm off. "Mara!" Aiden calls as he runs after me. "Thank god it's break right now, I would be so late for class." I say once I get far enough away from the scene of the fight. We both sit down. "Are you alright?" Aiden asks, running a hand over where I was hit. "I'm fine." I answer. Aiden puts an arm around me and says, "I was hoping I could keep you away from that dick."
I give a weak laugh and scoot a bit closer to Aiden, needing comfort. "Yeah, nobody really does anything about his bullying." Aiden says holding me a bit tighter. "That sucks." I sigh. "So, what's it like, being feared be everyone?" I ask. "Well, it's pretty nice sometimes, less people mess with you and it's fun to tease people with, but the thing is with me, that if I show a mushy affection for anyone or even a friendship, they get scared because of my character's habits. It's like this..." He says then trails off. After about a minute of silence he turns to face me, nearly making me fall over with a sudden jump. "You see, it's just that, you, even though you're a friend, are terrified of me." He says. "Well, I'm sorry then." I say. "Oh don't be! It's fine, were being too sad anyway!" Aiden laughs. "I should get to class." I say as I stand up and walk off.
