Chapter 79- (FGOC Multiverse)
Heart (Sans from Underlust) meets the babybones and Oneiro

FGOC Multiverse
Heart logically understood why he was avoided by the others but it still hurt that he was judged for things that were outside of his control. Even the nickname they tried to give him was belittling, Lust, as if that was all he was and ever would be.
He hated that his AU was called Underlust and the reputation it had gained with the other AU's. He remembered at first being so excited when he had been invited to join the Council and learn more about the multiverse.
That excitement quickly fled with the harsh words and dirty glances he was gifted, as soon as others learned where he was from. It had been demoralising but he refused to break under them. He refused to apologise for what he had to do, in order to survive in his messed up AU. He would like to see them survive what he had!
So many blind Judges he was near, no matter that they thought that they were superior to him. He was disgusted by them all.
Heart had continued going to the meetings and eventually even made friends with a few others, which had made his SOUL feel light at being proven not everyone was so narrow minded.
Things had been looking up for him but that was until that damn Original ruined everything!
He had been disorientated when he had suddenly found himself in a basement and bewildered at seeing so many alternate Sans in the house. Learning that they were stuck here and that even the Creator had no idea what was happening, was not great news.
It hardly helped that alternates from places he had never heard of started to appear, further elevating his stress.
The weeks passed and he had settled into a routine, making sure to avoid the majority of his new 'house mates', especially the irritating Fell. It's like they didn't understand boundaries and thought he would be 'weak' just because of where he came from!
He had been quick to show them the error of their ways but with the way their stare never wavered from him, he doubted they got the message.
When another week passed he was unsurprised when another monster was dragged into Sans mess, even if he didn't recognise the large winged being. He was prepared for the usual scorn or derision, once he introduced himself like Sans insisted, so was rather surprised at receiving a rather cordial greeting from the being called Sol.
"Nice to meet you, Heart. I look forward to getting to know you~"
While he was used to the words, the playful way they were said, with none of the demeaning gaze was refreshing. He was so glad his brother wasn't here though, knowing they would take this much harder then him. He had done his best to protect his brother from the other AU's and if that meant acting more into the assigned 'role' others expected of him, then so be it.
Another month passed in the house that was getting rather crowded with all the new monsters. He had long since ignored all of Sans reassurances, knowing they were lies. No one seemed to have any idea what was going on and he doubted the 'all powerful' original knew any better.
He did manage to meet up with the Creator though and was surprised at how quiet they were, compared to all the stories he had heard. He rarely saw them at Council meetings, with Dream often saying it was better to keep them away, due to their hyperactive energy. He was slightly ashamed he had bought into those rumours, knowing that others had said much worse things about him.
Heart was pleasantly surprised at how much he enjoyed spending time with the quiet artist and felt himself able to relax for the first time since being stuck here. He even started spending everyday with them, when hiding away from the majority of the others.
Even Blue with his upbeat personality was sometimes too much and he observed how even Ink looked uncomfortable being around the other. He had been sure they were friends but maybe that was another false rumour?
One day he and Ink had been sitting in the library quietly reading when Heart heard the sounds of the machine and the vibrations travel through the house.
"It's started again. I'll go check who the new housemate is"
He only received a hum but that hardly bothered him. Ink just seemed unusually quiet lately and he was surprised that Dream had not noticed the differences. They still spoke about Ink as if they caused problems every second, never realising the truth. His respect for Dream had fallen, with all the things he heard them say, making him even more wary of the so-called Positivity Guardian.
Heading to the living room he was initially confused at seeing Sol standing there and glaring at everyone in the room. He was unsure why they had their wing held weirdly in front of them but when they lowered it he froze at seeing a babybones. He couldn't look away from them, at being able to see a young one of his kind again.
Children were so rare in his AU, that all were cherished. It was another reason he could never get along with some Fell monsters, especially with the way he had seen them treat some of their young. He truly believed that all children were precious and should be protected at all costs.
His dislike for Sans grew, at somehow managing to bring an innocent into their mess. No matter all the false promises they were given he knew Sans had no idea what was going on or how to solve it.
He had no idea why some idolised the original, when the other was so close minded. He saw the way they looked down on the so called 'bad' AU's, seemingly forgetting that those were just ways their life could have gone. Such a stupid Judge they were, that they never thought to ask for his help with the machine and only based their 'knowledge' on shallow first impressions.
He stepped back as the two new monsters passed him, watching as the child was handed over to Goth.
"Can you look after my child for a bit? I don't want to bore them with adult talk~"
He didn't know Goth well but could see how their eyelight softened at the babybones, so was unworried at seeing them leave the room. He would still be sure to keep an eye on them though, especially around some of the monsters in this place.
As soon as the babybones had been taken out the room he stiffened at the dark gaze from the new monster, that soon swept over the room. He had never had that gaze be directed on him by Sol before and he was glad it never had. He felt a chill run through him as their magic spiked with the intent to harm.
"Before we get into the details I have a little rule of my own, that I won't compromise on. Hurt my child and i will end you"
"Whoa buddy. No need for threats here"
Heart snapped his skull towards Sans, bewildered at the stupidity they were spouting. Of course there was a need! If he had been with a babybones he would have done the exact same thing in the other position. Did the other magically forget they had threatened them all to keep away from their brother on threat of death?
"Let me be clearer. If you use magic on my child it will kill them"
"H-He is telling the t-truth"
Heart stiffened at Dreams' tone but was more focused on what he had just learnt. It was heartbreaking to hear just how fragile the new guest was and he fought the urge to go check on the babyones straight away. He doubted their parent would be pleased by having someone who looked like him near their child, so he resigned himself to being discreet.
Heading out the room, once it was clear that main points were being covered yet again, he went back to Ink to update them on the latest arrivals.
Maybe he could convince Ink to help keep a watch for the child? It wouldn't hurt to ask at least.
-
Days passed with no appearance from the babybones occuring. He had been growing restless with worry but Ink assured him they were still alive, so he let it be. Although he was not brave enough to go near either of the large winged monsters, no matter his worry for the child.
He let out a breath when he spotted the child in one of the winged Dreams grasp and swiftly left the room, before he was spotted. Their magic was not friendly or subtle, in the hostility it radiated to any monster that was around their child.
He was just about to open the door to Inks room when a hand forcibly turned him around, making him come face to face with a smirking Dream type. He had no clue which one this was but guessed Oneiro, at the casual way they were holding the child.
"You are called Heart, right? Would you be able to do me a favour?~"
He was shocked into silence, unsure what the other even wanted. It seemed his agreement wasn't needed as he soon found himself with a babybones in his arms, and he automatically adjusted his grip to make sure they were comfortable.
"Yes. You will do nicely indeed. I will be out for a few hours. Would you mind looking after Karma?~"
"O-Of course not!"
He hugged the babybones closer, feeling his SOUL soften at the eyelight looking at him in pure curiosity. He jumped as another voice spoke up, seeing Sol stand right beside the other. He wanted to ask where they were both going but the mischief in their eye lights stopped him. He was glad he wasn't the target at least.
"Have fun, little aster. We shouldn't be long~"
As soon as they both left he briefly stared at the babybones, before opening the door to Inks room. The other might like peace but they did have a few useful items to entertain a child.
"Ink? Can I grab a few things? I'll be out straight after"
"What for?"
The reply was distracted as he could see Ink drawing by the window, not bothering to look up. The trust warmed him but it was also amusing seeing the 'powerful Creator' look so normal.
"Babysitting duties"
That caught their attention and he saw the way they tensed before quietly gathering some paper and crayons. They paused over a colourful tub before grabbing it too and handing it over but paused as they saw he had his hands full.
"I-I'll help you.."
"Thanks! Lets go, Karma"
Quite chirps were heard making him coo at the tiny monster. Heading to the spare living room, he was for once glad Sans had bought such a large place. He showed Ink the room and when he saw Dream coming near, he slammed the door in their face. They were much too uptight for his tastes.
"Now sweetheart, do you know who I am?"
"...my babysitter?"
"Yes but my name is Heart and the other monster is called Ink. Would you like to see what things Ink has kindly brought you?"
"Yes please"
So polite! He put them down, seeing them hesitate when they briefly looked at Ink, before carefully walking to the pile in the centre of the room. He watched as they picked each item and examined it before placing it to the side. It was when they reached a small colourful tub that they grew confused.
"What is it?"
"It's play-doh"
He silently watched as Ink spoke up, curious how this would play out.
"....What do you do with it?"
Heart stifled his amusement at how Ink lit up and enthusiastically explained what it was and what you could do with it. He thought it was the perfect moment to grab a few snacks for later, so quietly left to go to the kitchen. He knew his brother was a black hole while they were growing up and expected most children were.
When he came back he was surprised to see Karma asleep on a large pillow, he was sure was not in the room before. He placed the plate down on the table and looked over at Ink, who was staring at the babybones with white eye lights.
"Ink. Are you feeling ok?"
"..yeah. I'm fine"
Heart watched in worry as his friend left, unsure on how to help. He sat down on the chair, promising to himself he would check on them later.
It was a peaceful few hours with Karma waking up and playing for a bit, before the winged monsters entered.
"Sol! Oneiro! Look what I made!"
Heart was amused at how such large monsters could look so comfortable indulging a babybones. When Sol picked up Karma and left, he called out to Oneiro.
"Why did you choose me?"
"Hmm?~"
"To look after Karma. Surely you know my reputation?"
He was bitter about it but was realistic enough to know that it still worked against him. He had often seen parents drag their children away from him in fear and disgust, as if what he looked like made him untrustworthy.
Their eyelights briefly lit up and he felt as if they were staring straight at his SOUL but he refused to back down, almost desperate to know why they had chosen him.
"You were perfect for this. I knew i could trust you to defend my child with everything you have~"
Heart blushed under the genuine compliment and covered his face in embarrassment, as the other laughed at him in amusement. Maybe this place wasn't so bad.
~~~~
Heart: This place sucks. Zero redeeming qualities!
*Karma pops up in the house*
Heart:..Maybe i was too hasty
-
Heart: Why did you choose me to babysit?
Oneiro: I trust you of course!~
Also Oneiro: *Not admitting to having chosen them specifically for this role and stalking them before entering this multiverse*
