Chapter 6-(Birth Multiverse)
Palette life is better with Goth in it but can he convince the other that?
Dream loves his family and would not mind adding one more
—-
Palette knew his family was differnt to others and was always reminded of that when he left the house. He wasn't sure when he realised but he knew he was being put on a pedestal, to rise to the same greatness as his parents. It always confused him when he heard that as to him his parents were just like any other monsters. His mom, Dream, had helped him control his aura as it had been haywire in the early years. It apparently had to do with his father not having a SOUL, so he would need more practice to help contain his magic.
He didn't know what to think of his dad being soulless and didn't really see the issue. It made more sense when he understood that he could sometimes sense others feelings and learnt to separate it from his own. His dads 'feelings' were never that strong and it helped balance him from being bombarded from those around him.
He loved his parents and the effort they put into teaching him magic but he was lonely. All the other kids who had met him seemed fascinated with his parents and wanted him to perform tricks for them all the time. His dad was helpful and showed how to act more over the top of his traits, to push people away.
It alwasay surprised him how well it worked but saddened him at having no friends. Meeting Goth was a new experience. He watched the other look bored with his dad and walk over to them. The formal greeting was odd from someone who looked so young but he did blush when he was complimented on how pretty his magic look. He sensed no envy or greed, only admiration which made him unsure how to react. Thankfully his mom took over talking while he gathered himself.
Dad became persistent in getting Goth to like him while he and mom watched on in hilarity. Over time he knew he saw the other as a sibling and became more protective of him. Most people saw Dream as a kind monster but forgot he often fought against the Bad sans, which Goth copied. He practised those skills on the disgusting monsters who slandered Goth and made sure to keep him safe.
He was sad that they met up less over the years but with his magic spiking as he grew he didn't feel safe being around others and refused to ever hurt Goth. When he tried to catch up with the other, he was alarmed at how dull they felt. It seemed he was watching the life drain out the other as the years passed by and he was terrified he was watching someone 'fall-down'. His mom assured him that Goth was fine but he saw the looks his parents exchanged when he was out of sight.
Mr Reaper was a strange monster and it took years before he even realised that this was Goths father. Watching them talk was weird and he was suspicious when he saw Goth actively prevent the other from touching him. He wished Goth could live with them instead but his dad always got a weird look on his face when he brought it up, so he stopped asking. He would just have to get stronger so his reputation alone could protect Goth from everyone.
When dad came back unusually grim, saying the Destroyer had taken Goth he felt sick. He magic stirred in restlessness and his mind filled with anger. He was assured they had a plan to get the other back and he refused to not take part. He wasn't in his stripes anymore so he argued he could be useful. Mom had looked wistful when he saw him but reluctantly allowed it.
The battle was loud and it was the most violence he had ever witnessed before. He knew he was more sheltered then others but that was mainly due to his parents fear of others using him to get to them. Hearing the shout of glee from his dad he turned around and was shocked. He was so glad Goth was here but was unsure what was happening.
He couldn't hear from where he was but whatever was said made dad look grim and call off the fight. All skeleton monsters looked puzzled and many tried to argue, but the angry spike of magic that swept over the area from the Creator made them quiet. Seemed a meeting between select monster would take place as a new issue had cropped up.
He could not mange to sneak into this meeting and even his dad refused him entry. He waited at the door and perked up when they opened. Feeling the sense of disbelief and grief permeate from the room was not what he expected to be greeted by. The only one who seemed unaffected was Goth, who was being looked at in heartbreak by Mr Reaper and surprisingly the Destroyer.
He wanted to know what had happened but mom had grabbed him and teleported home, refusing to let him go. He had tried to reassure the other he was here but this only seemed to make it worse. When Goth and Ink joined in the cuddles he enjoyed the contact.
He wouldn't hear the news of what was talked about for a while, but when he did he was enraged with the whole situation. He would show Goth he cared and destroy all those who got in his way

Dream had thought he would always stay by the Tree of Feelings and would spend the rest of his life guarding the apples with his brothers. When the villagers came he was intrigued but didn't think much of it. Being invited to explore he was unsure, till his brother encouraged him to go. This became daily visits with demands of what he should do piling up each day.
He never noticed when his brother hid a wince when they hugged or lied when he said he fell; and that's why he had bruises. He was too tired from the daily tasks and just enjoyed the quiet presence of his brother.
The years went by and Dream had gotten used to the daily toll he had to endure. He finally realised he had been blinded when he came back to the tree seeing his brother eat the apples. The anger directed at Nightmare from the villagers made him feel sick, but he couldn't manage to get the villagers to leave them alone. The situation escalated when they attacked NIghtmare who seemed to lose his mind and slaughtered them all. He had been terrified but couldn't leave his brother alone.
He spotted the last golden apple and ate it to keep it safe. While he didnt truly like his role as guardian he knew positivity nedded to survive or the world would be dull. Slowly turning to stone was alarming and he feared this was punishment for touching the apple. The darkness engulfed him and he felt calm. He wasn't sure where or how long he was there but was startled when light appeared and a skeleton monster was in front of him.
Ink was an odd being but learning about his lack of SOUL made him understand better. He grew to admire the Creator and the role he took in defending his creations. He joined in and they met another monster named Blue who seemed to slot into their team. They joked around saying that they were the Star sans due to their eyelights being able to change shape, but it seemed the name stuck.
Seeing his brother again he wasn't sure what to think. He hated what the other did to the AU's but wasnt blind that he was never killed. He found out he had been in stone for 500 years, meaning the other had plenty of time to hone his skills. All the supposed near misses happened too often to be a coincidence but he pretended he didn't notice. He hoped his brother still cared for him but was unsure what the others end game was.
He knew the multiverse saw him as a light being who looked naive and would tell no lies, but they were wrong. His early years made him put up a mask to separate him from the greedy beings. He never wanted to be taken advantage of and blinded to those close to him again.
Getting closer to Ink had been unexpected but not unwelcome. When the other came up describing what he felt for him Dream couldn't help but blush in embarrassment. Agreeing to date the other had been impulsive but he trusted Ink. He was one of his closest friends and they had been through a lot. He gradually fell in love and saw the other did too, even if they never voiced it. Having a babybones was joyous and he adored having someone around to teach his magic to.
He had become wary of other monsters when he saw Palette's aura unintentionally affecting them. It was heartbreaking seeing his child cry when he realised his so called 'friends' stopped liking him when he learned to control his magic. He prayed they would have luck with the play date that Reaper had set up. He rarely saw the other anymore, after their mate disappeared, so he was curious to see how he had been.
He watched in disbelief as Goth looked irritated with his mate and came over to him and Palette instead. His eyelights softened as the other complimented their magic and laughed when he was told his mate was 'boring'. He couldn't help but test the other and often pushed his aura on them to see how they would react. A look of distaste and to be told to stop was unexpected but a refreshing reaction.
He approved of Ink trying to bond with the babybones as he sensed deep sadness and longing in the young one. Watching Ink be treated as an annoying pest was hilarious but he was annoyed with dealing with the over dramatic wailing when ink was rejected. Hearing Inks whispered confession of his magic trying to form a bond with Goth did not surprise him.
He loved watching Goth play with Palette and it was a nostalgic scene. Goth really reminded him of Nightmare when they were younger, with his looks of disdain at being interrupted and his joy of reading. He wouldn't have minded having more family but thought it best to discuss with Reaper before anything happened.
He had been horrified when Goth was taken and didnt stop helping in the plans to get him back. While he usually would hate so many monsters fighting one, his rage convinced him otherwise. He didn't care when he saw his brother with the Destroyer and kept on fighting to get back Goth. He felt Palette's emotions drastically change and looking over he saw Goth being held by Ink.
Having the whole battle stopp and a meeting set up confused him, as was the swift agreement from the Bad Sans and Destroyer. The meeting felt tense with only Goth seeming content to wait for someone to start.
"Goth, why don't you tell me what your role really means".
Dream was confused at what Ink was asking. Wasn't Goth just a helper for Reaper?
"I am the balancer for SOULS, which is mainly affected by the other balance keepers. Too much Destruction leads me to releasing SOULS from rest to be reborn to fill the space. Too much Creation means more SOULS are held in the great beyond"
Dream didn't see the major issue so far or why Ink still looked unhappy.
"What happens when a balancer dissapears, Goth"
"I'm used in exchange of course. You've heard an eye for an eye, like the humans say. I am the most replaceable one, so if one of you died my existence would be taken for your rebirth"
The accepting aura did not match the outrage that proclamation caused. No wonder Ink looked ill. If they had killed Error they could have condemned Goth as well. Dream felt nauseous at the negativity building up but worse was the uncomprehending expression on Goth's face at this. It felt like they should have known this already.
Dream hated how in the dark he was and could see Inks displeasure as well. Further talks would need to be discussed of what everyone knew, as he refused to loose more family to unknowns.
