Chapter 44- (SevenSins Multiverse)

Reapers (Envy) path to how he ended up alone.

Karma is not pleased by the changes that have happened to them

SevenSins Multiverse

Reaper had been alone for many years, through his own choice. He had chosen a land that was un desirable to mortals and immortals alike and decided to exile himself here. He might be miserable in how his life currently is going but it wasn't always like that.

He had been one of the few happy at being granted a Power and he loved the feeling it gave him. He had lived alone before he was changed, with hardly any family or friends to call his own. When he received a Power he didn't just gain more strength but a new family to call his own. He knew not all of the others saw it that way but what else would they be called in this circumstance, that connected them all.

He stopped counting the years since he had been a simple monster and instead tried to live life to the fullest. As soon as he had been trained to control his gift he was let loose and he enjoyed every minute of it. He never knew how easy it was to get addicted to his Power but soon learned.

Early on he often liked indulging in his gift making it much easier for him to go too far. He had just wanted to cause a little stir in the local village, between two rivals in business. His Power practically begged him to encourage more Envy to build up, so he happily complied.

He had whispered in certain ears, spread his magic in certain individuals and was prepared to watch the fall out in all its glory. He knew Ink tended to do something similar, so he saw no issue in playing it himself. What he now bitterly realised was that Ink had much longer to get used to the urges that their Powers could cause. Indulging themselves wasn't bad but if you get too deep it can easily consume you.

As the Envy in the village spiked he felt his true form break free and his Power ran amok. The screams of fear from the mortals soon turned to anger, towards each other, for every grievance. He feasted on the atmosphere being produced and wanted even more.

He went between villages with no rest, not caring he was showing his true form to all around. He started to lose time and soon his body moved like a puppet, going through the motions to achieve his singular goal. He never fully realised what was happening, until his counterpart Love found him. He cared deeply for his other half but at that moment he didn't see a friend, but a threat to his chance to get more Power. He pounced at the Virtue, not holding back on his magical attacks at all.

As the fight went on his mind slowly trickled back to him and he felt his horror build at what he was doing. He wanted to stop himself but his body rescued his wishes, not stopping the attacks. He finally managed to break free from whatever was taking over but only when he managed to rip apart large sections of Love's wings. The cries of the fallen Virtues froze him, as did the others magic staining his hands.

He shakily reached out to Love but pulled back at the flinch he received. He felt like a true demon, that the mortals tended to call him, and for the first time he understood why some of the others cursed their Powers. When he felt Ink and Error arrive he was unsure what was going on. He watched in a daze as Love was healed and he was straight after taken to Inks home, barred from seeing the others. He spent months inside with Ink, working on his control but this wasn't what he wanted.

He wanted to be fully punished for tainting his counterpart, as he could see the damage he had done to Love's wings, even when they had been healed. The Power in Love no longer flowed smoothly, in their once vibrant wings but was erratic. It made his SOUL feel it was drowning in the guilt and shame of his actions.

He didn't want to go back to his usual routine and potentially forget what had happened. He wanted to be destroyed, to allow a new Power to take his place. He was confident that Ink and Error could do it, but both harshly refused his plea.

This new life was such a curse and now he was finally realising the full repercussions of living forever. He would have to live with his actions and there were others who would never forget along with him. This was all too much for Reaper, making his SOUL cry in agony.

That is when he ran and started his life far away from others. He never left the dead land and over the decades he didn't even see any mortals. He stopped caring for himself, hoping to let himself rot all alone for eternity but things could never be that easy.

The biggest change came when he had been sitting outside, watching the sky when he felt a pulse of magic. It took his mind a minute to realise this signalled a new Powers presence.

He was prepared to ignore it and privately wished them better luck than him, when he soon received visitors. The Powers that lived with Nightmare started to visit and he was unsure what they could want.

"Heya Reaps. How is life? Rather dull here, isn't it? Why not go out and have some fun. I would be happy to help!"

He grimaced at Killers words and turned away from the other. They loved to try and taunt the other Powers, while not wanting their new positions they learned to thrive in their new life. It made him rather jealous.

"Awwww, don't be like that. I brought all the guys along to keep you company. I even have news on the new guy. Aren't you interested?"

He hesitantly looked at the other and sighed at the cheshire grin he was graced with. Pride was always good at getting his way and now didn't seem any different. He reluctantly listened to the talks of the new being and how they were a babybones.

He was shocked at the news and pestered for more about them, irritated he had given in to the other again. The visits continued, with Killer being the most frequent and loud visitor. When he had asked why they decided to start coming here, he wasn't surprised at the answer.

"We are bored of course. We all will probably have to spend a few years being 'perfect citizens' till Ink gives the ok. No one wants a potentially feral Power, you know?"

Dust was the most blunt being he had ever met and he appreciated the truth.

Months continued in this pattern before an insidious plan started to grow in his mind. He wasn't sure if the others noticed but their tone had grown softer, whenever they talked of the new Power. He could feel the care and interest, this new one added to their lives. If Powers that barely saw the young one reacted like this, how were Ink and Error reacting?

He subtly started asking questions about how Ink was dealing with this and learned so much more than he could ever imagine. He was shocked Ink was so smitten and allowed the new Power much more freedom than others before. He hid his smile at the plan that was coming into place, even as a part of him screamed to not do it. He would pay for his crimes, even if he had to add one more to it.

He didn't want to admit he was also slightly envious at how well the new one's life was going. How come he didn't get to live like that? He ignored the voice that told him he had done this to himself and he could always go back.  It was far too late for him to change.

He was unsure how he would enact his plan, when it seemed luck decided to shine upon him. He hadn't been sure if this was the new Power at first, but when he spotted the wings and fully felt their magic, he was certain this is who was described. He stood in silence and tracked their path as they got closer to him. He felt his SOUL pulse in anticipation and managed to control his instincts around the other.

When they were right in front of him he carefully placed his hands on their shoulders, making sure they were fully facing him. He didn't hold them in place, as it felt as if even the wind could take them down. Their small stature and large curious eyelight made him understand more why Ink was so drawn to them.

"You have much you want, tiny crow. I can feel the envy you inspire in others and the desires you have. Such a powerful source that I could easily keep for myself"

He couldn't help but try and warn them to leave, even if it was indirectly. He loosened his grip and internally begged them to run away, so he wouldn't do this. He did not have the willpower to stop himself anymore. Spotting the beads with Inks magic on their scarf made him falter, as he could feel the protective intent in them. This was terrifying as Ink had never marked others like this. He wanted to pull back, stop himself from ruining the life of an innocent but his Power pushed him on.

The other stayed as they were and he wanted to cry at their too trusting nature. He instead submerged himself with his Power, in order to have the courage to finish what he started.

"I can feel such disgusting wishes upon you. The selfish desires for more. the envy when you see something that isn't yours. Let's see what you truly are envious of, shall we?"

He pulled them closer and moved his hands towards their skull. It was so much easier reading the inner feelings this way. Reaper felt like he was in a trance, as he started spitting out the truths their SOUL was telling him.

"You want all the shiny items you pass by everyday. The jewels in a ladies bracelet and the feathers that Freshs' wings have. Even the stars you are envious of, tiny crow. But what you truly are envious of above everything else, is the way others can easily die...."

Reaper's hands shook slightly as he went on and he had never hated his Power more. He spotted no surprise on the others' features, making him irrationally angry. No one that young should be that desperate to die that a Sin could sense it. He was sure he could increase his Power form this little one alone, but that was not the part of the plan.

"You know Ink just wants to add you to his collection, right? You are nothing but a way to indulge his Power. He will throw you away once you lose his interest. Why don't you leave him first? Show him he doesn't control you~"

He could feel his tail wanting to appear, at how much he was using his Power but he resisted. He was not going to lose control ever again.

He stepped back from the tiny being and waved his hand in the air. A black portal appeared that started sucking all the light from the surroundings. He had no idea where it led but he had used all his magic to create this. He was glad he had extinguished his eyelights, as he didn't want to show the other how physically affected he was by this.

He could create normal portals easily but he had grown curious in his youth of other types of magic. Some said there could be other worlds out there, but he had only scoffed at the utter nonsenses. Now looking into his creation he couldn't help but think there truly was more to existence then the world he lived in.

When he heard noise he turned to the babybones, seeing them walk to the portal. He witnessed no fear or hesitation and he felt sick at what he was allowing. As they were about to step in they turned towards him and gifted him a beautiful smile.

"Thank you, Reaper. Perhaps this will grant my wish. Goodbye"

He was left in shock as the portal snapped shut, just as the other stepped through. His SOUL screamed at him for condemning a young one, just to get what he wanted. He tried to convince himself this was the only way but knew it was all lies.

He was sure the others wouldn't let him live now. He would finally get what he wanted, but why was he suddenly terrified of facing them? In his SOUL he knew but he wanted to pretend till he had to face his crime. He doubted even Love would look at him, when she found out. He was puzzled at something though. How did the other know his name?

-

Karma knew this was most likely a trap, as soon as he had gotten near. He listened as the other looked deep inside him and spoke the truth of his SOUL. He wasn't surprised by what he heard and had never hidden it from others.

"You want all the shiny items you pass by everyday. The jewels in a ladies bracelet and the feathers that Freshs' wings have. Even the stars you are envious of, tiny crow. But what you truly are envious of above everything else, is the way others can easily die...."

None of this was new and he doubted others didn't have similar thoughts. He wasn't a 'pure being' and never wanted to be one. He doubted they even existed and was wary of any who claimed to be one.

"You know Ink just wants to add you to his collection, right? You are nothing but a way to indulge his Power. He will throw you away once you lose his interest. Why don't you leave him first? Show him he doesn't control you~"

He was unsure why his desires angered Reaper, but the other started to spit out truths he hadn't wanted to believe. He had started to enjoy staying with Ink and enjoyed the care he received, but hearing Reapers words stirred his mind into a frenzy.

Ink would surely end up behaving like the others he had met in other multiverses. He had experienced it too many times to not be surprised when he was thrown out like a piece of trash. It would be even worse here, due to their even immortal SOULS not outlasting the majority of existence.

He doubted they would exist when the mortals vanished from this plain, leaving him alone once again. There were too many risks involved in staying, even if it was tempting to let himself open up to beings very close to what he was. Ink had been so open and understanding to him, but Reaper's words ripped open barely healed wounds. He had made himself too vulnerable here, leaving was clearly for the best.

He watched in numbness as a portal was created. He grinned when he realised it felt like the Void and had no idea how the other had even accessed this. He was impressed at the magic the other must have expended to even create this. Walking to it he felt the coldness brush against him and sighed at the feeling. Perhaps this was a gift, in a roundabout way. He doubted the other had any kind intentions towards him, making him believe this would not take him anywhere safe.

"Thank you, Reaper. Perhaps this will grant my wish. Goodbye"

He stepped in and laughed, as the Void greeted him like an old friend. He drowned in the dark and felt his body fall like a star in the night sky. He felt he would float in this state forever and knew he would be content. The darkness suddenly shifted and a bright light caught his attention. Looking down he saw the pin on his scarf was getting brighter and he hissed when it suddenly blinded him.

?? Multiverse

Karma wasn't sure how but he needed up on the ground, in a rather noisy location. His head started to hurt when thousands of SOULS suddenly bombarded his senses. He wanted to scream at how overwhelming it was but managed to stay silent. Getting up he staggered away from the source and cried in relief when he felt himself quickly acclimatise. Why did he feel so terrible? He thought he had mostly healed from what he had been through?

Leaning against a tree he was glad his eyes were starting to focus and was confused where he was. He looked down to check over his body, when he froze at seeing his hand. Bringing it closer to his face he saw he sadly wasn't mistaken. Moving it to his head he closed his eyes and tried to calmly breath through this new revelation.

"Did I just die and get reborn?.... Why am I a human again?"
