Chapter 35- (Raven Multiverse)

Ink has odd ideas and Karma has fun

——-

Raven Multiverse

Karma was so comfy but he felt he was missing something. Stretching his limbs after his short nap he looked around, finally remembering he was staying with Ink and Dream. It seems it had not taken long for his alternate 'parents' to tire of him. It was almost impressive how quickly it had happened. This must at least beat the record for this life.

He started reaching for his neck and let out a whine when he couldn't find his scarf. Ink soon popped into view and came over to the sofa he was on. He was holding his scarf walking over to him. It was wound around his neck, making him feel much more grounded.

"I got some more chocolate, it's on the table. Feel free to grab it whenever you want".

He had spotted that as soon as he awoke but he was suspicious. Until proven otherwise he wasn't touching it. He has been in this situation too recently to forget to be wary. His space was suddenly invaded as Ink confidently grabbed him and held him tight. He flared his wings in irritation at the sudden movement but easily settled down.

"Let's go meet the grumpy octopus! With your cuteness he can't turn me away. Dream isn't here to stop me now!".

Karma perked up at the nickname. Were they going to see NIghtmare? So many books for him to read. He didn't notice his eyelight turn to a star but Ink did.

"Perfect! Make sure to have that look when we see him".

Ink threw black ink on the ground, jumping through and entering straight into Nightmares castle. He knew he wasn't supposed to do so but it was so much quicker like this! He had to quickly duck, when a knife headed towards him.

"Twitchy! How rude. I even brought a guest. Aren't they adorable?!".

Killer knew it was a mistake to stay at the castle today. Inks energy seems especially manic today and he despaired at what he was going to deal with. He scowled at the nickname and was about to spit out some choice words, when he choked at seeing what was in Ink arms.

"What's wrong, twitchy? Oh! This is Karma. Doesn't the outfit suit them!".

Now Killer loved cats and the small being dressed like that and looking at him in pure disdain, was definitely up there in cuteness. Even the way their wings were puffing out made him think of disgruntled cats. This image violently warred with the thought of Ink having procreated. He would let the Boss deal with this, he was leaving.

"Bye twitchy! He is super jumpy when I am around. I've always wondered why. Let's go find Nightmare!".

Ink was sprinting through the corridors making Karma laugh in utter glee. He hadn't had so much fun in a while. The Creator suddenly stopped at a large wooden door and kicked it open, making it crash against the walls.

"Nightmare! Look who I brought over. Now you have to let me stay. Dream? When did you arrive?".

Both twins merely sighed in answer, causing Ink to laugh. They really were too similar!

Nightmare had been enjoying the rare alone time with his twin. They had slowly started reconnecting over the years and now made sure to meet up at least once a week to catch up. He had never allowed Ink to stay for long in his home, after the mess he had left the first time. His eyelight regarded the smaller monster being held by the Creator.

His mouth twitched at the outfit and the curious gleam in their eyelight, when glancing at his books. He had listened to Dream worry about not knowing much about Karma so thought he could easily remedy that issue. He questioned the others intelligence for not having asked yet.

He got up, making sure to lower his tentacles as he got closer.

" Hello Karma. My name is Nightmare, Dreams twin. Would you like to read some of my books? "

The laser focus he was pinned with made the answer rather obvious.

" Can i ask you something first? It won't matter what the answer is, you will still be allowed to read? ".

Karams defences raised at the tone. Why had Inks hold tightened with that question? They better not be lying about the books, he might bring his scythe out if they took that away. He was a tad wary what exactly they wanted to know though.

"Ok"

" Can I CHECK you, Karma ?"

...that was it? Looking at Dream he saw them make a face at Nightmares back for some reason. Oh, wait. Monsters were a bit private about those, weren't they? He merely nodded in response. He didn't particularly care what they might see, he had nothing to hide. He felt magic wash over him and shivered at the feeling.

When they seemed done he squirmed in Inks hold, wishing to be put down. It seems he wasn't being clear enough with his wants, as Ink merely adjusted their grip on him. He huffed in frustration and seriously considered biting the arm holding him, to be released.

" How...... ".

Nightmare's voice attracted the other two monsters' attention and he grinned at the hold loosening. He bit the arm, feeling pleased when he was immediately let go. He caught himself easily and started walking towards the book shelf. This was turning out to be a great day!

Ink looked in disbelief at Karma's back. He didn't know babybones could be so feral! He would need to be more careful in the future for their teeth. He warily eyed their wings as well. He had seen what damage Reaper could do with the seemingly fragile limbs.

"What's wrong, brother?".

Ink looked over and noticed how Nightmare wasn't looking too good. It might be hard to tell, with all the goop covering them but the swaying was a clear sign of distress.

" H-how are they still alive? "

"Problay due to clearly having Reaper as a par- ouch! Dream? What was that for?!"

"Be serious for once! Brother, what did you see?"

Ink knew this was a serious matter but he was growing bored. Dream had pushed his brother to sit and now they were whispering to each other. He was wondering what to do when a tug was felt on his scarf.

"Ink, I'm hungry. Do you have any chocolate with you? I've run out...".

He grinned at the question. He did indeed have the chocolate as you never knew when he needed to calm Error down. Grabbing one he handed it over and watched as they carefully peeled the wrapping. When they indicated he get down he did, a tad confused. Opening his mouth, to ask what they needed, he nearly choked at the chocolate being stuffed in his mouth.

He swallowed the piece of chocolate, baffled at what had just occurred. Is this how others felt with him? He was faced with an intense eyelight that flickered over his body, waiting for something. When nothing happened they thanked him and ate the treat. Babybones were very strange creatures but definitely interesting.

He heard Dreams' laughter with Nightmares soon following. He pouted at them, finding amusement in his predicament. He would like to see them try and be unaffected by that. He sat down on the arm chair, waiting for their laughter to die down.

He was updated on what they had talked about and also some plans they would implement later. Ink reluctantly agreed they would need to contact Error soon, to see if they missed anything else. They still didn't understand how they broke through the defences around their multiverse but doubted Karma did the trip willingly.

A knock on the door made them realise they had been here for several hours.

"Boss, I've made lunch. There should be enough for your guests".

Nightmare was tired but pleased at what they had managed to sort out. Standing up he winced at how sore his back had become. Having tentacles was not always a bonus for his health. He saw Dream head over to Karma, disturbing them from their reading. He was impressed with the books piled next to them and how quiet they had been while meeting.

Moving to the kitchen he didn't wait for his guests, as he knew Dream had memorised his layout by now. He trusted his brother to drag the menace and child with him and would give him time to warn his group to behave. He would rather they survived his brother's wrath if they did anything to the child, let alone what he would do.

When he arrived he hummed at seeing different sandwiches pilled around the table. Horror easily made more food than needed and it would be sufficient for the other three.

"Listen here, you've heard the rumours of a multiverse hopper. They are here and much younger than we first thought. Behave''.

Three matching grins was his only reply and he wanted to groan at what he had to deal with. Horror, Dust and Killer were usually fine to deal with individually, but when together they seemed to thrive on chaos. He was very tempted to throw them out but sadly his guests arrived before he could.

"Hey kitty cat, are you hungry?".

He was surprised Dust had said anything, as they were usually content to watch in the background.

"What's up? Cat got your tongue?".

He narrowed his eyelight in warning at Dust for pushing, when he noticed Karma wasn't looking at Dust but at something behind him.

" You don't belong here, spirit. Be gone before I crush your SOUL for polluting the balance".

Magic flared in the air then just as quickly disappeared. He shivered at the sudden temperature change but made sure everyone was ok. He glanced at the babybones with new interest, especially when he heard Dust whispered that his 'brother' was finally gone.

"That was awesome! You should so do that again. Here, have some more chocolate. That must have been exhausting"

For once he was glad the soulless wonder could easily break the tension, that had started to build up. Karma didn't even look bothered at what had just happened and instead focused on their prize.

Karma loved it when SOULS moved on with litte interference from him. He had been shocked when he noticed a corrupted SOUL, latched onto a living monster. That usually never ended well and he was wondering why Reaper never dealt with this. It wasn't like it was hard.

Inks mouth had already opened when he turned to them and he was pleased at how quickly the other was learning. He fed them a piece of chocolate and waited, the same as last time. He ate the remainder and basked in the taste. He was getting cranky at not having been fed magic in a while but he hadn't spotted anyone he felt safe with yet.

Talk slowly started up, with glances being directed to him every now and then. Today had been rather fun but he knew he could not get carried away. Looking around the table he morbidly wondered which one of these monsters would be next, to throw him away. The pattern had repeated too frequently for it not to happen again. He kept the smile on his face whenever the empaths looked over, trying to show that nothing was wrong.
