Chapter 21- (Oneiros Path Part 1)

SwapDream is looking for his child. Karma is confused at these weird monsters

——

Back in SwapDream Multiverse

Dream was pissed at how long this fight was going on. He had tried to leave multiple times but it seems the Destroyer had some tricks up his sleeve. Every time he tried to teleport he ended up back where he started from, greeted with a glitching Gaster Blasters as a treat.

He usually would not mind having some fun with a grumpy Error, but his connection to Karma was getting wonky and even cut off at times. He froze momentarily when he could not sense his feather and was lucky his brother covered for him. This had gone too far. His aura blazed and he watched the Destroyer crumble, at the sudden emotional change. Even the powerful can be brought down by their emotions.

Standing above the Destroyer he was tempted to attack, but knew it would be pointless. He didn't have the power to fully end a God but he could find some use of them. He noticed that Error hadn't reacted when he felt his feather disappear, meaning his child must still be alive. A bond would have been useful to have.

"While you look great at my feet, i sadly need your assistance, Destroyer~"

He could see the other regaining their balance and felt their emotions dip to anger, so he didn't mess about.

"I can't feel the marker I put on Karma. The bond is still there, isn't it?"

It might have sounded like a question but it was more a demand, to make sure that it was a reality.

"You will help me get him and then leave. I saw his condition. He is lucky to be alive"

No playfulness was in his tone but he stopped his tirade when he saw the displeasure in Errors eyelights.

" I agree. This was the best state I have seen fluffy in, but he was worse when he first arrived ".

The grumpy Destroyer actually listened? Well this could be a useful addition to the game~.

He might give them the benefit of the doubt but he wasn't a forgiving monster.

"Not good enough~"

" Ink has been sending magic down the bond, since you took him. Fluffy still needs our magic "

He scowled at the truth. He had been trying to find any way to get around it but nothing had worked. He would have broken the bonds but he wasn't hopeful Karma would survive or even wanted to . He didn't necessarily need that multiverse Creator and Destroyer, but he hadn't met any he liked more than these two. He was also sharp enough to notice Error never admitted to helping with magic.

"Why are you helping? I've seen how you are with your little gremlins"

Disgusting creatures with no redeeming qualities. Nothing like his perfect little raven~.

....Oh? What is this he sensed.... Is that guilt? He could use that.

"Bring me to where the bond leads and you never have to worry about Karma again. I can easily take care of them and you only need to donate magic. If not just get me another Destroyer's magic".

He could see the idea take hold but now for the final push.

"It would be helpful if you got rid of his original 'caretakers'. No need for them to try and come get Karma~"

Perfect. He gave them a goal, which suited their morals nicely, and got a tracker to find his child. He was a tad upset he would not get to do the deed himself but sacrifices needed to be made. He can't believe his brother said he couldn't play nice with others or compromise. This clearly proved him wrong.

His happiness was short-lived when the Destroyer's expression dropped.

" I'm being blocked. It was a pain finding fluffy here but it seems someone else is trying to hide them ".

How? It had been at most an hour.....where did that portal take them? He was sure Karma would have still been in his multiverse. Seemed he underestimated the power a God can have.

"Look. Why don't we all calm down. Brother, you said Ink had a strong bond with Karma, right? With two Gods it will be much easier".

The hand on his shoulder helped stabilise him. He hadn't realised his wings had flared or his magic had been gathering in his distress. His brother was right. He could still get what he needed. He could mange to work with these two and who knew. Maybe he should follow his dear brother's example. Even his most Beloved 'pets' were useful, having Gods would be a lovely addition to his empire~.

With Karma in Blueberror Multiverse

The softness of the bed almost made him believe that his memories had just been his imagination running wild. When his eyelights finally focused, that thought was shattered at the room he was awake in. It looked like one of Inks spare rooms, but he was sure he wasn't 'home'. The door opened and a monster looking like Ink opened it.

"Morning Karma! Breakfast is ready, so come down whenever you want".

...that was odd. His Ink would never leave him alone that quickly and even the other one had been very tactile with him. Knowing his name already was strange but using his cover name was even stranger. He knew someone must have CHECKED him but he didn't realise how much this experience was changing him.

Monsters CHECK usually reflected what they themselves felt. When had he accepted that he was longer Goth? He knew he wasn't attached to his name in general, as it changed many times, but this was still the same life.

How disconnected had he become from his birth name for his SOUL to accept this? He was also curious what else the CHECK had shown them. He was happy to never look at it himself. as it still didn't feel natural. He didn't want to see what state his mind and body were in, he just wanted to continue on as he was.

Sitting up he scowled when he felt his hunger return. He doubted this monster meant he would be given magic but probably solid food. He did not bother to delay too long as he felt another SOUL in the house, reminding him of Dream. Walking down the stairs he found the kitchen and sat down at the only spare seat.

Now that he was closer he was sure this Ink lookalike was the monster he had shown his displeasure to. It could be why the other seemed a bit skittish around him. Moving his gaze away from him he spotted this Dream scowling at his 'collar'. Did they want to replace the magic with theirs instead? Maybe it was a Guardian instinct he was observing.

He looked at the food on the table with a suspicious glance. He wouldn't bother to explain he wouldn't eat it so tried to get an answer instead.

"Why am I here?"

At least Ink finally looked at him.

"You were saved from the Antivoid. You don't look as bad as I expected. Well done for surviving!"

"INK. Apologise for his rudeness. We want to help you recover from that...experience. My name is Dream and that is Ink".

At least the names were the same but he had to clear up the misunderstanding.

"Thank you for your...kind actions. I was perfectly content there, so if one of you could drop me off in the Antivoid i would appreciate it"

"Ink. Can I talk to you in the other room for a second? Help yourself to food while we are gone, Karma"

He wasn't happy at his question being ignored, nor at the subtle command. They better not expect him to actually eat, as even looking at it made him feel ill. A perfect distraction arrived in a staticky portal. He saw no observable difference between any of the other Errors he had met, so he stayed silent to see what they wanted.

He watched as they looked between him and the food and scoffed. Their hand reached out and pulled a chocolate bar, probably from their inventory. It was placed in front of him, with no contact being made. He gave a glare, to show what he thought of the silent command.

" Eat it and i'll take you to the Antivoid ".

He glared harder at the cruel proposition but he knew he wouldn't refuse. Ripping off the wrapper he took a small bite and prepared for the nausea. He was pleasantly surprised when none came and ate more. He hummed in pleasure as his hunger faded. He enjoyed tasting something his magic finally accepted.

He saw Error's smug look and refused to react to it. He did notice their eyelights drift to behind him though. Turning he finally saw the state of his wings. They didn't look too bad but they had definitely changed. He loved his black wings but the white tips at the end of his feathers did look cool.

He moved his hand, feeling the texture and was pleased when it all felt the same. Wanting to see one closer he grabbed the tip of a feather, preparing to rip it out, when his seat disappeared and he fell onto a squishy surface.

Slightly dazed it took him a few seconds to realise he was in the Antivoid, sitting on a beanbag. A weight was dropped on his lap and he felt his eye lights change at having more chocolate. He stuffed most of it into his inventory but stuffed a few in his mouth. He chirped at the taste but was uneasy when his bones felt a bit fuzzy.

He moved a hand straight in front of him but he saw nothing bad. Ignoring the sensation he happily continued eating. He was content with his prize and even Error was happy to stay silent. The only noise was his eating and Error knitting. He was surprised at how many chocolate bars he had eaten and swore he would find more in the future. He could definitely just eat this for the rest of his life.

It didn't seem that long till another portal opened. Glancing to his right he saw Error sitting in his own bean bag still, so was confused who it could be. The staticky portal opened, showing the strange swap monster from before.

"Blue?".

The other seemed to startle and stared at him in a peculiar way. The glitching sound next to him seemed to be increasing and he thought this Error might have Crashed. Before he could check he was spoken to.

" I'm glad you are ok. Ink has been searching for you ".

The voice was a change but he still felt he hadn't been wrong in his guess. Also, why would Ink even care? It hadn't even been a day since he got here...right? Maybe having a SOUL made them even stranger. He didn't have much time to ponder as Ink appeared next to Blue.

"Hey Error. Have you see-. Oh. Good thing I checked here. By the way, can I borrow some magical thread?".

This Ink looked very happy and smiled a touch too wide.

" S-sure Ink. No p-problem ".

Before he could turn to check if they were alright, Ink picked him up and jumped through an inky portal on the white floor. He was upset at being taken from that safe environment, when he was placed on a kitchen chair with Ink kneeling in front of him.

Their eye shapes seemed to be focused on the feather he was wearing. They took out a small paintbrush, dipping it in ink and covering the whole feather. The thread from Error was then tied around it . He was confused what this was meant to do when he felt his neck lighten, as if a weight was removed.

He looked down and saw a puddle of ink and yellow magic on the floor. Moving his hands to his neck he realised nothing was there. He was unsure what to feel about it but it did let his bonds be felt again. Poking them they felt slightly off but he was unsure why. He wanted to ask why Ink had done that but he started feeling dizzy. What had they done to him? He wasn't sure he liked where he ended up.

A new weight was placed around his neck and he was baffled at seeing the Creator's scarf around him. He was about to pull it off when his hands were squeezed tightly.

"Don't take this off, ok? It will help you. Just trust me".

The weight was comforting but the serious expression directed at him was unusual. He used his magic to poke the item and let out a purr at the familiar mix of magics. It felt like Creation and Destruction magic, but it didn't feel like it belonged to this Ink. His questions kept piling up and they grew when he was presented a new outfit. It was identical to what he was wearing but it had an odd scent on it.

It soothed his senses so he was happy to wear it.

-

It was odd living in this house as he wasn't sure what the others even thought about him. He had never been let outside, as this Ink seemed very possessive about him. He watched as even Dream was kicked out, on the premise of letting him 'recover' with less harsh magic near him. He only really saw Ink or Error but those were rare visits.

He did sense Fresh SOUL occasionally but never witnessed him in person. He did find small toys in his rooms when he sensed Fresh. Ink had been furious when he saw and had disposed of them. He was even made to change his outfit again. He wasn't sure why he was being avoided by the parasite but he had no way to find out.

He was usually left alone and when Dream had tried to visit, Ink had made sure the other stayed far away from him. Witnessing this actually made him relax. It felt like being around Reaper again, so he knew the rules of the interaction now.

A habit he couldn't break was when he was sent off to bed. Every night he looked around expecting his Dream to be here. He didn't realise how attached he had gotten to them and hated how his loneliness grew. He was tempted to ask Ink to go outside tomorrow, hopefully to forget this new unwanted revelation.
