Chapter 20- (Blueberror Multiverse)
How Blueberror came to be and the odd monster he found
——
Sans never thought there was much else to their simple life. He set up traps waiting for the human and went home to Papyrus at the end of the day. He had a very scheduled life and was happy with how it went, until the Destroyer changed his life. He had heard rumours about a black boned monster that dusted all he saw till no one was left. No one knew who originally shared the story but he had thought it was only a tale to scare the monsters still in stripes.
That was sadly not true as he soon found out, when strings surrounded him and dragged him away from his broken world. He watched all he knew collapse before the portal fully closed, trapping him with his captor.
He had no idea where he had found himself and had been wary of what the other would do to him, so never asked. He was constantly kept in the others strange magic and held in place. He watched as his captor knitted small puppets and watched a strange show using their magic. The white surroundings had started to hurt his eyelights, so he mainly focused on the Destroyer and the items surrounding him.
He had paled when he first saw the SOULS hanging up high. He was further horrified when he was told the puppets were filled with monster dust. That fear slowly faded when he learnt more about his captor.
He observed how they rarely left the space he was taken to and he never saw any other monster visit. When he was dragged to sit on a spare bean bag, to watch Undernovela with Error, he believed the other to be lonely. Sans was convinced the other wanted a friend, so that's why he had been taken.
The other also started to interact with him and even started calling him Blue. He had asked what was wrong with his name but after being shown how many other alternatives there were of him, it made him understand quickly.
Not much had changed with this revelation but Error seemed to slowly relax around him and even removed the strings holding him still. It all came to a head when Error showed him how he killed other monsters in AU's. While alarming Blue still said he would be his friend, no matter what.
Error hadn't seemed happy with his words and had lowered one of the hanging SOULS, explaining the concepts of RESETS. Errors said he had attacked Blue universe on purpose and had only waited for the right moment. The Destroyer then attacked him but he refused to fight back.
This is when he made the worst mistake of his life. He had told Error he should not be afraid of being friends with him. The rage clouding Errors features frightened Blue and it got worse when he was left alone in the pure white space.
He had started walking trying to find Error but it was a fruitless effort. He wept and screamed for the Destroyer to come back, but no one ever came. His body started to change, starting to mimic the monster who had dragged him into this new hell. He was all alone and had stopped trying to leave a long time ago.
When felt his mind start to deteriorate it made him snap back into the present. He finally saw what his arms looked like and could see the glitches floating around him. His magic no longer had that bouncy fun feeling he was used to. It felt more volatile and prickly.
He remembered Error making portals and wondered if his changed magic would aid him to escape. He failed many times but was relieved when he finally saw an exit. He sprinted from his prison, admiring the colours and noises surrounding him.
He was unsure what to do now when a strange human, who was only black and white, welcomed him to the Omega Timeline. They were called Core Frisk and were a helpful friend in the early days of his new life. The place he ended up was apparently for monsters to live, who had managed to survive the Destroyer or other tragedies.
Time passed and he changed his name and realised he could never go back home. His form was too changed and his Code corrupted. He had been surprised his universe wasn't permanently gone, but he refused to think of why. He had found another Swap sans who had no universe to go back to. He sent them back to his universe and felt bittersweet at their happy ending. He made sure to keep thoughts of Error away and helped the monsters in the Omega Timeline instead.
This is how he eventually met the Creator Ink, who was an eccentric but reliable leader and his friend Dream, the Positivity Guardian. They were fun to be around but the latest meeting struck him cold.
"Error contacted me. Fresh brought a monster into the Antivoid and lost them. Can you look, Blueberror?"
He had never been sure what his feelings were, towards the monster who led to his life changing but right now he felt cold anger. How dare they allow this to occur to another! He wasn't sure how Ink could stand to be in the others' presence but he refused. Dream may have confessed to feeling guilt come from the Destroyer, when talking about him, but he didn't care. Until the other talked to him directly it meant nothing.
"Ok. I'll search around. You should check some AU's. They might have gotten out"
His voice, while less staticy than Errors, still made him cringe at the change. He ignored the pity on Ink's face and went to look for the monster. He knew how unlikely it was they were in an AU, as he was very lucky he had ever escaped. He had the best chance of finding them, along with Error, as they could withstand the Antivoid with little effects. There were perks to having your whole being changed.
Months passed and he felt his hope fade. He had even seen Fresh looking ,with an uncharastic serious expression. Everyone knew it was unlikely the other had even survived, but learning that they were a babybones made the situation even worse.
He lay in the white space, letting all his frustrations and fear out. He felt anger at never having tried to kill Error, to prevent this situation from occurring. Guilt rose at these thoughts and he mourned his old life. He hardly recognised the monster he had become some days. He was getting ready to look again when a voice called out to him.
"You ok?"
He had gotten ready for an attack, but stilled at the monster in front of him. It matched the description Fresh had given but he could see the signs of the Antivoid, trying to change them. There had been no mention of their black feathers having white tips but he was more alarmed by the flickering eye light directed at him. He had no time to lose, so he quickly grabbed them and opened a portal to the Omega Timeline.
" Core! Contact Ink and Dream. I found them ".
He saw some curious monster stop to stare, so he moved over to a quieter area. He wasn't surprised they hid their face, as the contrasting spaces could be a shock to the system. He watched Ink and Dream rush out a portal heading straight for him.
"Blueberror! How do they look? Any damage? Do you need any help?"
A whimper attracted all their attention. Ink stopped his barrage of questions and efficiently made a black blanket and threw it over the babybones. His voice was much quieter when he next spoke.
"Sorry. Can we CHECK you, little one?"
There was no reply adding tension to the stressful situation. Were they even still alive? Only the weight in his arms held off his fear.
" Do it Ink. We need to know "
He felt the magic that briefly touched him and saw the way Inks eyshspes switched to exclamations marks.
"Feed them some magic. Their HOPE is dangerously low. We were lucky you got to them in time"
Blueberror made sure to slowly give magic, before stopping soon after. No need to overload them. He handed them over to Ink and twitched when he saw an odd look pass over the Creator's face. Before he could ask, Ink shrieked in pain.
"They bit me!"
Dream burst out laughing at having some normality to the situation. When he had calmed down he lifted up the blanket and saw the babybones had fallen asleep, after their vicious 'attack'. His humour faded at the lacklustre shine of their wings and the grey colour of their bones.
"They need rest. Let's take them home"
While never official, the three of them were widely known as the Star sans. They had even decided to live together, as the friendship had grown into becoming a family. They went home and watched the small one rest in a spare room. Ink rushed off to update his allies and the Bad sans. Neither group particularly liked each other but they made sure to try and stay out of each other's way at least.
A low whine was heard from the babybones, making Dream try to sooth the other. Quiet words and gentle touches seemed to work and they settled. This whole situation was a mess and he had no idea what they were going to do. The glow from their chest area caught his eyelights. Moving the blanket away he scowled at the foreign magic. Feelings came off the bizarre item, greatly alarming him. When he touched it he nearly choked at the possessive intent infused in the item.
He would need to tell Ink, so they could get rid of it. It made his Golden SOUL want to be closer and it equally repulsed him. Who knew what the item could do to a babybones SOUL.
Who was this winged monster and why were they alone when Fresh found them? He hoped they would wake up soon so they could find out.
