Karma woke up feeling drained and like his body weighed a ton. He tried to bury himself in the covers but whined as that barely helped. Opening his sockets he was confused why everything was white but he was far too achy to care.

He just wanted his dad....

He shuddered as another wave of pain came over him and he whined in discomfort, sniffling in slight fear. He didn't remember how he got here and he realised he was lying on pillows, rather than the mattress he was on before. He felt terrible and he weakly chirped, when he heard someone coo at him.

"Oh little raven. You are looking so much better but you still need to rest~"

"Dad? I don't feel well.."

He chirped in surprise as he was lifted up but soon nuzzled into his dads coat, relaxing at being near someone he trusted.

"It's ok. I'll be here when you wake up. You can go back to sleep~"

Why was he sick again ? It hadn't been that long since his last illness! Surely he deserved a break. He whined unhappily as his dads chest suddenly spasmed, realising they were laughing.

"It doesn't quite work like that, little crow~"

..he said that out loud? Just how sick was he?! He slumped into his dads shoulder, finding their humming soothing. He soon fell asleep, hoping he would feel better the next time he awoke.

Opening his sockets was much easier the second time and this time he thankfully saw his dad immediately. While feeling better than before it still ached when he moved. He saw his dads skull turn towards him but was confused when they didn't get closer, even if he saw their hands twitch.

"Dad. Are you ok?"

"I-I'm fine. You should focus on getting better~"

Karma tried to make sense of the words but his headache surged, making him whimper. He pushed himself up, ignoring the way his dad was hovering over him in worry but most tellingly still not holding him. That would just not do. He was feeling terrible and he wanted comfort and he would get it!

"L-Little raven, you need to lay dow-"

"I love you, dad. I'm not scared of you"

He saw the way they froze, looking at him with some unknown emotion. He squeaked in surprise as he was soon in their arms but purred happily. He was very happy that it had worked, glad he had guessed right. He was getting so much better at communication!

He huffed in displeasure when they tried to put him down and felt smug when they soon gave up.

"While I am enjoying this, you still need to rest. You caught a rather bad cold, little raven~"

Karma grumbled and decided he was going to sleep right here. He didn't remember ever catching a cold this bad before..but he supposed he had a rough few months. He hummed in response, chirping when they adjusted him so he could rest more comfortably in their arms.

The next few days followed a similar pattern of waking up in his dads arms before soon falling back to sleep. He had little recollection of much else and was growing tired of not being able to stay awake for long.

Karma was hopeful that he had fully recovered, when he next woke up, not feeling any aches in his body. He looked around, humming at all the blue strings hanging down from the 'ceiling' perking up at seeing some puppets as well. He really wanted to touch them but his dad was holding onto him way too tight!

He tried to wiggle out of the hold and was very surprised that they looked to be asleep. He rarely saw his dad resting and studied them in interest. He frowned at the dark shadows under their sockets and even their wings looked less neat than usual.

He was going to let his dad sleep longer, so was surprised that they suddenly shot up, thankfully still holding him. They didn't look fully aware, as they were looking around the AntiVoid with sharp eyelights, tightening their hold on him. Did they have a bad dream?

"Dad?"

He twittered as they focused on him, cooing as they suddenly relaxed.

"..you are still here~"

"Of course!"

"You won't leave me will you, little raven?~"

He was confused why his dad looked so worried and tried to send his feelings through their bond, scowling at how much effort it took.

LOVE/AFFECTION/CARE

He squeaked as he was squeezed even tighter, relieved when they quickly let up. He was very happy when they said they could leave soon, as he was getting a tad bored. He was a bit worried about Top and Aster though, as he had been looking forward to their surprise.

"Dad, are they upset with me?"

"Who?..oh. Of course not, little raven! They understood why we left but we can still have fun~"

"B-But what about the surprise?"

He giggled as his dad nuzzled his skull, smirking at him in amusement.

"We have all the time in the world, little crow. I have an even better surprise for you though~"

Karma was intrigued but pouted, as he was told he had to wait a few more days, to make sure he was back to full health. When dad suddenly stood up he hummed in query, baffled when they went over to a blue string that was wrapped around a bright red SOUL.

He grew even more puzzled when his dad cut through the string, before catching the SOUL and presenting it to him. He took it but was unsure what he was supposed to do with it.

"It's for you to eat silly~"

Karma was lost on what was going on. He was sure big brother said he didn't need to eat SOULS anymore and had even told his dad about that, who hadn't given him one since he started eating magical food.

"..I thought I should only do this in an emergency?"

They had a discussion about it, even if he had felt rather baffled by the whole thing. Although, he had noticed how serious dad had been about the topic, so had reluctantly agreed. Even Nova had stopped handing him random SOULS, after his dad had a private chat with them. He had no idea what they said but Nova hadn't been around for a bit after, as dad said they were sick.

He never knew they could be sick...

"It is. You were asleep for a week and you were not accepting any magic from me..it was rather w-worrying, little crow~"

Karma was surprised but he supposed that did explain why his dad looked so disheveled. He shrugged before taking a bite of the red SOUL, his wings twitching at how spicy this one was. The red ones really were weird.

He hummed in surprise as his magic drastically rose, feeling so much better. His dad sure did know a lot.

Karma's wings puffed out as he stepped through his dads portal, scrunching his face at how this place felt. It thankfully wasn't the worst, he still felt shivers run down his spine remembering the place with Strings, but it was still a change to the past few multiverses he had been in.

"It's ok. I've checked and this place is still stable even if some of the Star Sans are.. unique ~"

He chirped in acknowledgment and held onto their hand, wondering what they would be doing here. He had tried to pester his dad for more information but they merely laughed at him, saying it was a surprise. He scratched his neck, pouting when his dad stopped him, telling him to be careful. It's not his fault he was so itchy lately!

He got less excited as they made their way into a rather busy street and lifted his arms to be held. He hid his face in his dads neck, shivering at the many SOULS in this place. He tensed at the sound of children's laughter and when he took a peak he saw they were in front of school.

"Why are we here?". He mumbled, feeling stress build at the thought of having to attend school again.

"We are here to meet your surprise of course. Talking of, i see one of them over there~"

He squeaked as he was suddenly put down, clutching onto his dads trousers in anxiety.

"..Are you Oneiro?"

"That's me. You must be Alter. Is Goth still ok for today? I don't see them anywhere~"

Karma looked up at the Sans variant talking to his dad, shifting in anxiety when they turned their gaze to him. His wings twitched as they crouched to get on his level, watching them carefully.

"Why hello there. I'm called Alter. What's your name?"

"Karma.."

"That's a lovely name. Would you like to meet my son? They look to be a bit older than you but I'm sure you will get along. They love meeting new people "

Karma looked at his dad, feeling a tad scared. He had met many children and he really didn't get along with them. They were so loud and could be very mean. He hated that Asy had forced him to go to school but going with Pale had been ok...

When his dad squeezed his hand in encouragement he quietly said yes to Alter, jumping as a white blur suddenly attached themselves to Alter.

"Dad! You are never here this early. Is something happening today?"

Karma saw the moment he was spotted as the wingless Goth variant jumped, their gloved hands tightening on Alter. He was confused why they stepped away from him, looking at the hand he had on his dad with a weird look, before whispering something to their guardian who shushed them.

He tensed when his dad let go of his hand and nudged him closer to Goth. Feeling shy he mumbled his name, quietly asking if they wanted to play.

"R-Really? Are you sure?"

Karma frowned at their stutter but nodded, fiddling with his scarf, hoping they were nice. He had a small smile as they excitedly listed all the things they could do, saying they should come over to their house. While it sounded nice he was a tad overwhelmed by the choices, which thankfully his dad noticed.

"Why don't we head off to Goths home, then you can decide what to do. We are staying the whole day, little raven~"

"..ok"

As they walked away from the school, Karma noticed the way that Goth would look at him when they thought he wasn't looking. He was puzzled why they opened their mouth but snapped it shut before blushing.

Were they shy?

Taking a chance he let go of his dads hand and grabbed Goths gloved one, feeling them tense in response.

"Do you want me to let go-"

"NO!..sorry. I was just surpised is all. No one really does this"

"..but you were just touching your parent..?"

"My magic is dangerous and I can't really control it.."

Karma hummed and swung their joined hands, having a good idea why that was. Reaper types seemed to have the same issue after all but he wasn't worried, as he had the same magic type. The rest of the trip was silent but he smiled as Goth held onto his hand tightly. Maybe he will get a new friend after all.

"Go put your stuff away Goth, then you can go and play outside". Alter spoke up as they reached their house. It was a pretty home with a bunch of flowers outside and Karma let his new friend lead him inside.

Karma felt Goth hesitate to leave him, clutching his hand even tighter before eventually letting go. They soon came back and pulled him outside, hearing his dad tell him to have fun, before the front door closed.

He looked at Goth, who was fidgeting again before suggesting they play hide and seek. He knew it wouldn't be hard to find them if he was using his magic but that didn't sound fun, so he switched it off even though it made him feel very vulnerable. It wouldn't last long but it would be perfect for the game.

"I'll count first, Goth"

"Ok!"

He closed his sockets before counting to 20, before starting to look for his hopefully new friend. He was glad that Goths home wasn't in a very busy place but the many trees still made it a challenge to find them. He spun around when he heard a branch break and grinned widely when he spotted the edge of their red scarf.

He had to be close!

He carefully walked through the trees, not wanting to alert Goth and smirked when he spotted them, facing away from him. He jumped on their back, giggling as they fell on the ground.

"I found you!...Goth? Are you ok?"

Karma chirped, wondering why his new friend was so still, looking afraid to move. Touching their skull to check for a fever he flinched as they suddenly stood up, making him land hard on the ground.

"Oww. What was that for-?!..why are you crying? Did I hurt you? I'm sorry!"

Karma stood up very unsure what to do. Taking a guess he pulled them in a hug, surprised they sobbed harder. He cooed and pat their skull, completely lost why this made it worse. Thankfully his dad soon turned up, surprising him on how quickly they got here.

"What wrong, little raven? I could sense your distress~"

"They are crying and I have no idea why!"

He was still being hugged tightly and he gave a pleading look to his dad to help.

"...Little raven, he can't usually touch others~"

"What's that got to do with anything?"

His dad pointed to his hand, widely smirking at him while leaning against a tree, looking rather amused. Karma was kind of embarrassed how long it took him to realise he had been touching Goth's uncovered bones and just held on tighter to his friend.

After that disastrous first meeting things went so much better. Karma had really grown to like Goth and had begged his dad to visit them more, which they easily allowed. Now he got to see Goth daily, even if they still stayed in the AntiVoid in between.

He was being carried in his dads arms, on the way to Goths, when he suddenly looked at them in puzzlement.

"Did you get shorter?"

He squawked as he was suddenly thrown in the air before he was caught and tickled.

"How mean! I think you will find you have gotten bigger~"

"Noooo. Sthap! Ti-kles! Dad!"

His laughter trailed off when they thankfully stopped, trying to catch his breath. He felt his dad place their palm on his cheek, turning his skull to face them. He cooed questionly at the weird look on their face, seeing it soon change to the usual smile before they nuzzled his skull.

"Such a silly babybones~"

"Dad!"

He huffed as they laughed at him but perked up when they reached Goths home. As soon as the door opened he jumped out of his dads arms to go and find Goth, tackling them when he saw them.

"Karma! Don't scare me like that!"

"Sorry! I was just so excited. Dad said he would take us"

"Really?! I need to get the glitter!" Karma giggled as Goth ran to their room, excitement almost radiating from them in waves.

"Don't forget the marker pens!"

"Just what have you planned, little raven?~"

He turned to face his dad, giving a mischievous grin in response. Goth had told him how they found Dream and Ink weird, so he thought he would help them have some fun!

It had not taken much to convince them of his idea and now with dad helping them get there, their plan would be super easy to enact! His smile widened at the pile of items in his friend's arms, hearing dad whistle at spotting the colourful feathers. When he was satisfied with their supplies he pestered his dad to open a portal to the Doodle Sphere, nearly vibrating in anticipation of their plans.

"Let's go, Goth! We don't have much time"

He dragged his friend to the Creator's home, a smile growing at the beautiful blank canvas for their creative talents. This was going to be great!

-

Three hours later Karma was clinging to Goth, both laughing hysterically at watching the fruits of their endeavours, thanks to dad leaving a small portal open for them.

Dream was really shining brightly, the glitter doing an excellent job on sticking to everything, especially with a bit of magical help thanks to dad. Ink looked like a really ugly chicken and Goth laughed louder as the Creator suddenly tripped, falling into Dream, causing the Guardian to screech in rage.

Karma was thrilled how happy Goth was, pleased he had managed to cheer up his friend. He had also secretly added a dye to Toriel's shampoo, which should make it turn neon green. His gaze darkened at the thought of her being near his friend, but he smiled normally when his friend looked at him.

"That was very impressive babybones but it is time for us to go, little crow~"

Karma frowned and looked at his dad with a pleading look, but could see it would have no effect.

"B-But why?"

"Goth still has school and other daily activities. Alter can only take them out of school for so long~"

Karma grumbled but was distracted when Goth barreled into him, causing him to lose his balance.

"..I'll miss you. Make sure to text!"

Karma was glad that they would still be in contact and readily agreed, before reluctantly pushing Goth off of him so he could stand up. He stood next to his dad, sniffling at having to go.

"It was nice to see you, Karma!..even if your dad is weird"

"Goth! Remember inside thoughts"

Karma chuckled as Alter scolded Goth and waved goodbye, stepping into the portal his dad had made.

"Don't worry, little raven. There is still much more fun to be had~"
