Chapter Two-The Underground

The cave echoed with hard voices as a small figure rounded its way down a flight of metal steps. Gray wings just brushed the metal steps making it sound like a broom. The male figure stepped off the last step and hurried towards a group of people who were all huddled around several peepholes.

"What's happening?"

"Hush Malcom. We're trying to listen." Someone hissed. Malcolm shrugged his shoulders as he went to an empty hole and peered into the gold colored room. In the middle of the room was a long black oval shaped table. One top of the table was a red runner cloth that went all the way down to the ends. In the middle of the table and spaced out were three candle holders with four candles in each holder. Bolted into the ceiling was a chandelier of candles all flickering rapidly.

"Does no one have ideas?" A gravelly voice sounded as red eyes slowly peered out from the dark, glaring at the robed men and women that occupied the leather chairs.

"Well count-"

"Count!" His voice thunders. Did you say count!" With hurried steps the shadow came into the light and many shuddered at Vextor's face for it was hideously disfigured by a burn that covered his left side. The right on the other hand showed how handsome he had once been.

"Yes sir, I did." One the woman squeaked out. Vextor sighted and pinched the bridge of his nose

"How many times do I have to tell you that I want to be called king!?" He stopped and stared at them. Some whimpered in fear of what he might do. Others tried not to laugh at his annoying antics. "It's really not much to ask to not be called count. Count is so outdated. Besides, I'm not old school like Jethrum was."

"That's right sir, I mean he ruled all the way into 2017 and he still wanted to be called count and have us drink from goblets and do things that happened centuries ago." Vextor turned himself towards the young Demon's whose face now paled as he shrank down into his seat

"Did I ask for your opinion, Melenuk?"

"No Sir, you didn't." Vector turned from the young man and sat down looking at each of his followers.

"Well I suppose I should tell you why I've actually gathered you here today. I've gathered you all here today to discuss the matter of the Human."

"What about her?"

"Does anybody know her whereabouts? Where does she live? Where does she attend school? And lastly, where is the best place to kidnap her?"

"She attends Mixens Academy." Someone said

"She lives on Vestpoint Street, house number 8339."

"And what of the place to kidnap her?" Vextor asked wearily.

"Place for kidnapping is still unknown, your majesty."

"Well then, that is your ne-" The door to the meeting room flew open and a gray colored woman with matted ivory colored hair was shoved into the room falling to the ground. Behind her was a large tall man with ear length brown hair and lime green colored eyes.

"What is the meaning of this Barnaby?"

"Got caught using the OutBack."

"Oh she was, was she!? Careena, speak for yourself now!" Vextor raised a hand and with it Carena too. She hovered a few inches above the ground, obviously struggling for air.

"I. Just. Had. To. run. A quick. Errand."

"What kind of errand would you be running to have to use the outback? You know the outback is only for going into the human world and only if you have a bounty there or unfinished business in which the Keepers would know of and tell me. SO I'll ask you one more time, what were you doing?"

"An errand." She said, spitting in his face."

"How dare you treat your King this way." Vextor said as he shook her back and forth as he spoke. "Barnaby, get the truth serpent." Careena wiggled slightly but it was useless against his magic. A hissing sound sounded as Barnaby brought in a small green and teal colored snack. Vextor released her and put her in his chair and kept her there with his magic. Barnaby placed the snake around Careena's neck and it immediately wrapped its way around her neck tightly.

"One last time Careena, will you speak for yourself?"

"No."

"Very well." Vexor said as he nodded to the snake who opened its mouth to reveal one long fang in the top of his mouth. Without warning it whipped its head backward and then forward, digging its fang into the vein of Careen's neck. She screamed as the poison entered her bloodstream. The others at the table sat in shock as they watched Careena's skin turn like crepe paper and her eyes begin to turn white. Barnaby lifted Careena's head from the table

"Why were you using the outback?" He asked as tears slowly slid from her eyes as she turned to Vextor

"It was all for you Milord. I was getting her for you. I wasn't trying to use it without asking, I just wanted to please you." She said as her face began to glisten with sweat, tears and blood. She panted slightly as green lines began to scatter across her face.

"Who is her Careena?" Vextor asked as he kneeled to the side of her brushed back her hair creepily.

"The human. Rena Betrolli." She said softly.

"So you were just trying to get her for me. To be helpful because you knew I was struggling. Is that right?" Vextor asked in a syrupy voice as he patted her hand.

"Yes! Yes Milord, that's right." She said with a smile as she spoke in ragged breaths. Vextor's face turned cold and his eyes began to burn with rage as he stood and turned the chair towards him

"So you would go against my wishes to not engage yet just to gain good graces in my eyes!? That is appalling Careena! What you did was not good but bad and therefore, you must die."

"But your majesty!"

"No! Do not try to save her, Dellina." He said, turning towards the plump woman. "What she did was wrong. We must stick to the plan or everything will be undone and the prophecy will happen before we even get a chance to stop it or even prepare for it."

"What Prophecy sir! What does the human have to do with it!?"

"The prophecy that is written in the books!" He said erratically as he paced around the table looking each one dead in the eyes. "The ones that tell of a human that was born from an angel and a demon. A human with no powers on the outside but who will somehow wipe out all evil and restore peace to the world uniting both demons and angels in harmony." He said as he paused in front of Careena who didn't have a clue to what was happening because of the poison and sat laughing hysterically.

"But sir, even if the prophecy comes true, it won't be the end of the world, we can just kill her then."

"No! She is an abomination to us all. She's the weakest of all of us and doesn't deserve to live."

"But how is she an ambonation?"

"Because she came from one who is Holy and one who is Dark. It is not possible and should not have happened! We don't mingle with the other kind. It is wrong. And another thing, how did the two most powerful beings in the world produce something that is human, it is not right, the girl should have at least had some powers of some sort."

"But sir, you know that Jethrum has plans laid out for the child. Plans for a devil to provide the dangerous thoughts and an angel to be the good thoughts to counteract all the negativity in the world to be by her side always. They aren't going to let you take her."

"We'll see about that." Vector muttered quietly to himself. "No, but they're part of the fun. I know Jethrum has been trying to turn Kalil to the good side, but once a demon, always a demon."

"What is our next step?"

"Well, I'm glad you asked. First we must take care of this matter." Vextor said as he returned to Careen'as side and stroked her face with his long fingers. Then before anyone knew what had happened, he snapped her neck and sent her up into flames. After she was gone and the flames disappeared, Vextor brushed her ashes off his chair and sat down staring at the awestruck people around him. Someone cleared their throat after a bit

"What's the next part?"

"The next part of the plan is to let Devora find her and give her the letter."

"The letter?"

"The letter that explains to the child who she is and whatever else Jethrum put in there. But of course the child will want proof so then Ollie and Kalil will enter into the picture."

"And after that?" Vextor paused a moment, placing his finger tips together as he stared off into the fire at the end of the room.

"A week after that, we begin our task of trying to kill her before the fifth full moon rises to capacity." He finished with an evil cackle as cheers filled the cavern.
