Standing by the phone, Lily put her head in her palm, wondering if she should be doing this. Sighing, Lily picked up her phone and rang the number of her parents. While waiting a few seconds, the phone rang before the phone on the other line was picked up and a very lady-like posh sort of voice answered.
"Hello, the George residence, Mrs. George speaking."
"Hello mother," Lily said as her mother replied somewhat sarcastically. "Well if it isn't my daughter, haven't talked to you in a while."
Lily rolled her eyes, "well mother I've been busy, raising your grandchild and all, the one you have yet to visit." She told her as her mother replied, "yes well, your father wanted to of course, but I believed it would have been better if you were left alone for a while, you know allow you two to settle down." Her mother told her, as Lily laughed slightly, knowing that this was just like her mother.
"You sure that was the reason you didn't visit me? Or was it that you were just too busy?" Lily asked as her mother tutted, "you know how busy I always am dear, it may have also contributed to it. I'm sure we'll see you soon dear, especially if you move back here."
Lily sighed, knowing she would never be able to convince her mother that she was not going to go back and live in London. "Mother, you must know by now that I'm not going to move back to London, I have a life here in New York. It's Charlie's home and my home."
She heard her mother tutting, "honey, you're home is back here, in London, not New York." Lily huffed, knowing that she was not going to be able to get it through her mother's head. She shook her head and tried not to allow her mother to get to her and instead asked if her father was there, to which he was, and her mother handed the phone over to him.
"Hello dad," Lily said to him, smiling. Lily got on a lot better with her father than her mother, her mother was an uptight, solipsistic woman, who believed it was a women's way in life to become a housewife, whilst the husband and man of the house made the money, much different to how Lily viewed life. Whereas, Lily's father was supportive of whatever Lily wanted to do in life. Harrison George owned a wide range of companies in London and across Britain, making their family quite wealthy. But that didn't matter to Lily nor her father, her father cared more about family than any of the wealth their family had, but her mother cared. Amelia George cared how people viewed her and her family, how they were presented to the public eye and she somehow forgets how her family was feeling or what they wanted in life because if it wasn't how Amelia wanted it, it wasn't going to happen nor was to be good enough for her.
"Hello darling, how's Charlie?" He asked, wanting to hear more about his granddaughter. "She's well, I wish you could meet her, she'd love you." On the other end on the phone, she heard her father sigh and almost whispered.
"Darling, you know why I can't, and I wish I could. Just come visit here, you don't need to stay forever, just come visit, you can even bring your friends." Lily rubbed her head, confused as to what to do.
"I don't know dad," she sighed, not knowing what to do. "Let me think about it and ask my friends, I'm not promising anything though." She told her father, knowing that if she was to go, it would only be to see her father, whom she had missed more than anything since not only moving to New York but also since giving birth to her daughter.
"That's all I ask of you sweetie," her father said, as Lily could almost hear the smile that was plastered upon her father's face. She sighed as said goodbye to her father, before hanging up the phone and put her head in her hands as then James walked through the door.
"I see you've talked to your mother then, I always thought she was such a delightful woman if I do say so myself. I can see where you get your personality from," James joked. It was then Lily picked up the nearby and threw it at him, making James try to dodge it, laughing whilst running back to his room.
"Bloody idiot," Lily muttered to herself, now knowing she would have to decide on whether she wanted to go to London for a visit.
