"Aha, hand it over Pitch!" Lily laughed, as James rolled his eyes, handing Lily the betting money. "Still cannot believe you bet on your own child Lils, a real low." He said sarcastically.

Lily raised her eyebrow, "wasn't it you who started the bet?" She told him as he huffed, "well how else am I meant to make money?" He asked her in a 'duh' tone.

Lily shook her head, "maybe get a job James, that might help with the money instead of traveling around New York all day." She chuckled,

James turned to her. "Lily, I am from London, a place where you see the same things everything day. To me, the royal family were like neighbors who you never saw. New York is new and I can finally see things I've never seen, I just have to be careful where I go."

Once again the girl rolled her eyes, "James, you don't go out, you stay down at Central perk." As James looked sheepish, he shrugged.

"Better than nothing I suppose.."

As the pair laughed away to each other, there came a knock at the door, confusing Lily, as she nor James were to be expecting anyone at that moment in time.

Opening the door, the face of the one Lily had not seen in months stood there Infront of her.

"Chandler," Lily breathed, desperately trying to cover up the bump with the knitted cardigan she was wearing that day, though that was all Chandler's eyes could focus on when he saw her.

"Is-is that our-," Lily cut him off before he could say anything else.

"My baby? Yes."

Not focusing on the hurt reaction on Chandler's face, he tried to talk once more. "A-and do you know w-what it is?"

She put up a hard facade, trying not to show him her broken walls since he left her. "Do you think you deserve to know? If I'm not mistaken Chandler you walked out on me, so technically you have no right to know whatsoever. So please if you don't mind, leave, I've been doing fine without you, and I'll carry on doing that." She smiled, showing a fake kindness towards him.

Just then James came up from behind her, "Lil, who is it?"

Chandler took an intake of breath, feeling the lump in his throat become tighter and tighter, not understanding that both Lily and James were only friends, and instantly concluded the worst.

"Who the hell is this?" Chandler asked, voice slightly croaky from it being so dry when seeing James.

James smiled at him, giving that always charming smile that showed his kindness towards everyone. He held out his hand, "hello there, James Pitch, Lily's best friend."

Chandler had a fake sort of laugh and smile, "yeah hi, whatever." He then turned back to Lily, "are you going out with him?" He asked as Lily shook her head in disbelief.

"Did you not just hear him? He said he's my best friend, and also me and him, not a chance."

James put a sarcastic hand over his heart, "thanks Lily, love you too." She rolled her eyes at him as she turned back to Chandler.

"So to answer, no we are not going out, we are best friends. And to conclude Chandler, whatever you're doing here, it doesn't matter. You didn't want me nor the baby, you made that very clear to me and we're doing fine by ourselves. So we're going to carry on that way, I'll raise the baby, you will have no say, just as you wanted." After her speech, Lily slammed the door in Chandler's face, leaning against the door, breathing heavily and holding her bump protectively.

James folded his arms and smiled, "well I must say, that was rather enjoyable to watch. Well done, I'm proud of you."

It was at that point that Lily's walls broke down, all that heartache and loneliness had built up inside of her and the moment Chandler's face stood in front of her, it hurts and rather furiously. Tears fell on Lily's face rapidly as she held a hand over her bump and her mouth, trying not to let the whimpers of sadness escape.

James understood Lily's hurt, opening his arms, allowing her to fall into them for a comforting hug that she had needed for a very long time, needing to stay there for a while as he rocked her and stroked her hair and whispered comforting words, something no one had done for a long time. It felt nice, safe and even though the two were friends and always would be, there was no place in the world she would rather be, and no one else she needed, just her, James and the baby girl she was carrying inside of her.

Hopefully, now, everything would get better, Chandler would realize what he said the first time was true and would no longer come to both Lily and the baby, and she could raise the child in peace.

But things never quite turned out like that for Lily, as many things never did. Because things in life came around in the most peculiar ways, even when we do not expect them, but we get through the bad times, so the good times we remember even more because they dig deeper into our hearts and stay there for as long as we live.
