11. drowning

Dipper stared out the window, sighing as he watched the rain fall rapidly down from the gray clouds that rested in the sky peacefully. There went his plans for a monster hunt.

He watched as the droplets hit the puddles in the ground, the drops causing a ripple as it spread throughout the puddle. As much as he hated to admit it, he did like the rain..it made him feel calmer and more at ease..which was good as of now since the last couple days had been...really stressful.

Nightmares and a certain triangle had been getting to him more than he would approve of. Mabel had made him dreamcatchers when she found out...and not just small amounts...she went all out. Heck, by the time she was done, there was even a dreamcatcher on his nose.

But even that didn't help him. He had tried dreamcatcher a before...but those were just store-bought. Mabel had made some hand-crafted to see if those were any better, but apparently the answer was no.

He could hear the TV playing in the other room, sounding like 'DuckTective' or 'My Mummy Is A Werewolf 2: This Again' was on. He rolled his eyes, because either way, it was stupid. The 12-year-old turned his attention back to the rain and puddles and watched the water from the sky fall and hit the puddles.

Something seemed off..about this one puddle he was staring at. He didn't know why...possibly because it was bigger than an average one?

Literally.

It could be the side of a bed is how big that puddle was. Either way, he was gonna find out.

Dipper ran past the living room and sat on the wooden floor, snatching his shoes from by the door and yanking them on his sock-covered feet. After he was done, he stood up and looked around to make sure the coast was clear...and it was. He then proceeded to turn the knob quietly and open the door slowly as he snuck out and closed the door silently behind.

The preteen let out a sigh of relief and hopped off the porch, stepping out into the rain and walking over to the abnormal puddle. Once he was there, he stared down at it, seeing his reflection of himself..except his reflection started to grin..and his eyes started to change.

His eyes were yellow and they had black slitted pupils. The next thing he knew, he was staring down at Bipper, who even had the reverend suit on for occasion.

Dipper got wide-eyed before staggering back, but he seemed to get pushed forward by the invisible possessed body. The 12-year-old stared down at the reflection confused then rubbed his eyes as it went away.

He was probably just tired...nothing sleep can't fix?

The kid slowly nodded and stared at the puddle once more before turning his back to it and beginning to walk away...before something grabbed his ankles suddenly, causing him to fall. He landed on the muddy floor with a yelp as the mud splattered onto his face.

He started to get dragged and he screamed, his hands trying to keep a grasp on the ground, but  no avail. His fingers dug into the ground but he still kept getting dragged. His legs kicked and his arms tried to keep himself on the ground, but nothing was working.

Dipper was flipped around to see himself getting dragged into the puddle, which should be physically impossible..but apparently not today. He yelped and his fingers dug into the mud, marks being made in the ground as he kept getting dragged. The next thing he knew, his lower-half was yanked into the puddle and his head was barely above water. He took a deep breath and with a wince, he was yanked underground in the puddle.

It was as if that puddle were a lake or something...except he couldn't see where he came from so there was no chance of finding a source of air unless nobody saved him.

The preteen desperately looked for a source of air but found nothing. His eyes began to sting and his puffed-up cheeks couldn't hold their air anymore, so he let go and the air left his body.

Dipper swam fast and desperately looked for an opening of some sort with the amount of time he had, but found nothing.

His eyelids began to feel heavy and his lungs started to feel crushed, so his legs stopped. Everything felt dead and non-working as he slowly blinked to see the reflection Bipper he saw from earlier staring in front of him with a huge grin on, showing he had been victorious.
