Now, I have read The Girl Who Cried Monster by R.L. Stine more than once. And I must say, I find it to be quite superbly neat, as well as highly inspiring too.

Basically, the protagonist is 12-year-old Lucy Dark. She reveals that she likes to tell monster stories, and has told so many that her family (which, of course, consists of her parents and her 6-year-old brother Randy) and her friend Aaron are sick of it. Of course, Mrs. Dark observes that, with her imagination, maybe Lucy will be a writer when she grows up, although Lucy isn't sure about that.

Of course, if I had to pick a favorite part of this book, it would definitely be this part:

I had a camera.

My parents had given me a really good camera last Christmas.

If I sneaked into the library and took a few snapshots of Mr. Mortman after he became a monster, the photos would be all the proof I need.

My parents would have to believe actual color snapshots.

Forgetting my disappointment about Aaron, I hurried up to my room and pulled the camera off the shelf. It already had film in it. I had taken a bunch of snapshots of Randy's birthday party just before school let out.

I examined it carefully. There were still eight or nine shots left on the roll. (p. 78)

Now, back then, they had film cameras, which meant you had to take the rolls of film to the store to be developed at the one-hour photo places they had (although there are people who still do that with film cameras even now). This is different from today, because we have digital cameras, and if a photo didn't turn out right with a digital camera, you could delete it and re-take it.
