In this fast-paced, revenge-fueled, romance-filled, heart-warming, and tear-jerking adventure, three teenagers with supernatural abilities battle everyday struggles while also having to fight physical enemies. Daisy, Jensen, and Tony, a supernatural trio, are on the run from an organization that believes all supernatural beings to be unholy and in need of complete elimination. Tony also happens to be the prophecied Phoenix--king of the entire supernatural race. Can Tony step up and save his friends and the entire supernatural population, or will he fail to be their savior?
* This is the first book in the series
Goose's Thoughts:
It's Week Fourteen and we're plunging into another fantasy world of Werewolves, Lynx, and Phoenix's!
This is my first time really reading a story that involves werewolves and supernatural beings, and as an introduction, this was a great start! I loved how much thought and care went into the world created and the supernatural beings that we're introduced to. Meg has clearly put a lot of thought into the creatures and their powers.
Each character brings their own unique spin on the story and I loved seeing them grow into their powers, particularly Jensen. The shift in him from the quiet, sullen boy, into the jokester of the group was a fun transition, especially as it came about because he had people that were similar to him. Tony's inner turmoil about being the Phoenix King also created an interesting character arc for him dealing and accepting the fate he's been given.
Another thing I loved was the difference in background between the characters. Whilst Tony comes from a large, loving family, Jensen's dad doesn't care much for him and Daisy's brother disappeared. The family dynamics between each character really helps with their reactions and general attitudes in the story.
Meg's writing style really brings this story to life and I love the description she offers for the characters and the world around them. It's interesting to see how similar the world is to our own with the addition of the supernatural beings.
If you're looking for a fantasy story featuring an assortment of supernatural beings, then this is definitely a story for you!
Thank you for writing such an amazing story, Meg!
