First Christmas
Christmas was rolling around and Crowley was for some reason excited, not that he let it show. He was excited to spend his first Christmas at the bookshop with his angel. As a demon celebrating Christmas was weird considering its a celebration of Jesus (even though he was technically born at easter) and so Crowley had never celebrated it but now that he was with Aziraphale he wondered what it was like.
Crowley walked into the bookshop to see Aziraphale and Muriel decorating the tree together.
"What are you doing?" asked Crowley who was a tad bit hurt that he hadn't been asked to help.
"Hello to you too my dear, I was teaching Muriel about the traditions of Christmas"
Crowley was hurt and so he dismissed the bright bubbly smile Muriel gave him.
"Cool, cool" he stated as he kissed the angels cheek and walked through to the back room and lay down on the sofa.
Crowley began to spiral in his thoughts. "Why didn't Aziraphale ask him for help decorating? he always asked, granted he always said no but he still asked. Why was Muriel there? And why was this annoying him so much?"
He was still lost in though that he didn't realise Aziraphale had asked him a question. When the angel got no reply he walked up to the demon and shook his shoulder a little.
"Sorry what?" asked Crowley who had flinched.
"I said 'Are you alright?' You seem a little preoccupied"
"I'm fine"
"Also you don't really celebrate Christmas so...."
"So...what? You want me to leave?" asked Crowley who had gotten a tad bit defensive.
"What? No of course not, I just meant the things Muriel and myself are going to do might be a bit boring for you"
"Oh right, yeah I've got some stuff to do anyway, I'll see you later angel"
Crowley kissed the angels cheek and walked off up the stairs into their shared flat.
'That was odd' thought Aziraphale.
Later in the day Aziraphale had gone across the road to see Maggie and Nina who had combined their shops and gotten together.
"Ah Maggie, Nina, Merry Christmas"
"Merry Christmas Mr Fell, How are things?"
"Very good, I've been teaching Muriel about Christmas traditions"
"What about Crowley? He seems kinda down" asked Nina
"He's been here?"
"He's sitting on your roof, has been for hours" said Maggie who nodded towards where Crowley was sitting.
"Oh my, he did seem off earlier, then again he never really liked Christmas" said Aziraphale as he looked up to the demon who was watching the people go about their lives
"Really? He told us he couldn't wait to spend Christmas with you"
Aziraphale snapped his attention to what Nina had said "What?!"
"He said that he never really celebrated Christmas but he knows that you do, he said that he was looking forward to his first Christmas...with you"
"He never said"
"Did you really expect him to?" said Maggie
"I brushed him off...I...Oh no, I need to go"
Aziraphale rushed out of the coffee shop and into the bookshop, he ran up to the roof and saw Crowley still sitting there.
"Crowley?"
Crowley turned to face the angel "Hey Angel"
Aziraphale sighed and went to sit opposite the demon.
"I'm sorry about earlier, I didn't realise"
Crowley seemed confused
"I spoke to Maggie and Nina, they said that you wanted to spend Christmas with me, is that true?"
Crowley sighed and said "I'm never telling them anything ever again"
"Crowley why didn't you just tell me?"
"I never had to, you always asked me to help decorate, ever year without fail you would ask, I was going to say yes this year but when I walked in and saw you decorating the tree with Muriel..."
"You felt like I pushed you out...I'm sorry my dear, I just wanted this to be perfect with it being their first Christmas"
"Its not just their first Christmas Angel, Its mine too, I wanted to know what the fuss was about"
"I understand that my love and I'm sorry I hurt your feelings, do you want to help decorate the shop?" smiled the angel
"I don't think I'd be much help considering I have no idea what to do, you two can do it, I don't mind" said Crowley who looked out over what little of London he could see.
"Nonsense, I taught Muriel, I can teach you too" he said jumping up to his feet.
Aziraphale stood there with his hand held out for the demon to take.
"You really want me to, I don't wanna mess it up"
Aziraphale knelt down beside the demon and cupped his cheek making him look at him.
"You won't, I messed up by assuming you didn't want to help, I won't make that mistake again" said the angel who kissed the demon "Let me show you Christmas"
Crowley smiled slightly and stood up following the angel back inside and down to the shop.
Aziraphale taught both Crowley and Muriel the traditions of Christmas, both of whom soaked in every word. The bookshop ended up looking better than it ever had and their Christmas was absolutely perfect, although Crowley would have preferred Muriel not to be there but even with them there it wasn't all bad.
"So my love what do you think of Christmas?" asked Aziraphale on the morning of December 27th.
Crowley turned over in bed to face the angel and said with a small smile "I think I like Christmas"
Aziraphale smiled and wrapped his arms around the demon who had put his head on the angel's chest.
"I think next year it'll be just me and you" said Aziraphale as he started playing with Crowley's hair.
"Can't wait angel" sighed the demon who snuggled closer to the angel.
Bit of fluff after last chapter :)
